S is for Santa
Of course! Ho ho ho ho... Have you been good?
I'm pretty sure that you have, so, as is his custom, Santa is going to bring you something that you had been asking for, but also something unexpected.
Some of you have guessed it already. S is for Santa, but it's also short for Stereoscopic. And for Space, which is where we'll be going with our next adventure []-D
Actually we've just been to space, with Star Wars Outlaws. But this time we're moving to the best-looking planet in the whole universe: Pandora. And what do we need to get rid of, in order to fly there unencumbered and be able to enjoy each tiny detail of a wonderfully reconstructed virtual world?
S is for Shimmering. S is for Stop. S is for silly, which is what I'm being now instead of coming to the point.
Once again, I used to think that this would not be possible. And once again, thanks to your enthusiasm and support, I was proven wrong.
Despite many requests for it, I had been postponing indefinitely the horrible task of fixing TAA or DLSS for our VR supported titles, because it was a huge time sink that would need to be replicated from scratch for each new game. When I did it for the very first mod that was available on this Patreon, I had to spend weeks reverse-engineering the way the game computed and stored the motion vectors, literally down to each individual hair strand in the horses' manes.
It was a bloodbath, and back then I told myself I would never go through such a painful experience again, just to get rid of a few shimmering pixels around nearby objects and NPCs. Unfortunately, without precise motion vectors neither TAA nor DLSS can work properly, so it always seemed to be an all-or-nothing affair where deciding to fix a single game's antialiasing implementation to make it work in stereoscopic 3D would take me more time than modding the game itself, and crush my soul in the process :-(
Then suddenly, a few months ago, I had an idea for an algorithm that could perhaps reconstruct the correct stereoscopic motion vectors (or at least a decent approximation of them) for any game, with no need to reverse-engineer the byzantine ways in which the vectors are computed by the engine, but instead using only the information that the engine already provides to NVIDIA's DLSS libraries.
I didn't announce anything, because I didn't want to give people false hope in case the idea turned out to be a dead end. Also, as they say, ideas are a dime a dozen, and execution is everything. So I patiently set down to work on it, and as usual it took me WAY longer than I had anticipated. Many failed attempts, more sleepless nights than I care to admit, a number of apparently promising intuitions that turned out to be completely wrong. And a plethora of details to take care of, dozens of unexpected corner cases to smooth out.
But in the end, as you perhaps already saw from Brandon's video, the result was actually better than I had dared hope for. I thought there would be some incremental progress in image quality, that maybe I could make the defects a little less annoying; as a matter of fact, sometimes the upscaling is almost as good as native, and I was genuinely surprised at how much missing information it's actually possible to reconstruct without coaxing the game engine into doing any extra work.
Now, before you get carried away, I want to go into some details of what this new DLSS fix can and cannot do, and also give you some hints on how to make it function at the best of its capabilities.
Want the good news or the bad news first?
Yeah, let's start with the really bad stuff. Just like AER v2, this is NVIDIA only. If you have an AMD card, you won't be able to take advantage of the new technique with my mods. I apologize to Team Red, but I'm only one person. I know there are some third-party mods that make it possible to emulate DLSS on AMD cards using FSR, and it's possible they will work with this new tech of mine, but it is completely uncharted territory and you will have to experiment on your own. Also, though I have no affiliation whatsoever with NVIDIA and receive no money from them, I think that their cards are simply the best choice for VR. And basically everyone on the web seems to agree that DLSS is far superior to FSR in terms of image quality. AMD cards just don't have the hardware needed to compute dense optical flow in real time, and there's only so much you can do in software.
Next, the still-bad-but-not-quite-as-much stuff: this only works with DLSS. Games that only support TAA but not DLSS will not see any improvements. That is because, unlike DLSS, ordinary in-engine TAA doesn't have any standardized way of conveying the motion information, so it's not possible for me to make a fix that will work across different engines.
Moving on to the so-so news. The technology is based on a series of approximations, heuristics and a real-time reconstruction of missing data, so it is nowhere perfect. In many cases it works amazing well. But there are other situations where it fails. In particular, distant moving objects will tend to show longer trails than they do in 2D. There will be some shimmering left, especially on sharp contours. Some games may also give less satisfactory results, like for instance titles based on the UE4 engine.
Also, having DLSS work (almost) correctly doesn't mean that we no longer need to use AER. The requirement for the game to render two stereoscopic images instead of just one remains. So the motion artifacts of AER v2 (or the judder of legacy AER) will still be there, completely unchanged.
But there's good news too! First of all, the new tech is essentially free, in the sense that it has no measurable performance hit compared to normal (non stereoscopic) DLSS. And even though there might be moments in the game where it doesn't work perfectly, it is always a big improvement in quality versus the old unfixed TAA or DLSS, especially on large nearby objects like NPC faces and hair.
Moreover, the fix is more or less "universal", in the sense that it is possible for me to implement it on new games with just a reasonable amount of customization. Talking days instead of weeks. Already in this release, the tech will be immediately available for all the titles in our list that offer support for DLSS (including Elden Ring, which has no native support but can do DLSS via a third-party mod). Of course you will also get a checkbox to disable it in case you find any portions of the game on which it doesn't work satisfactorily.
And finally, the super-good news: the quality improvement that you can squeeze out with DL(S)SS is so vast that you can now actually use DLSS not just on the Quality setting, but also on Balanced and all the way down to Performance, despite the huge magnification that VR applies to everything. Together with the FOV optimizations, this means that for the very first time it's becoming possible to play a game in VR with essentially the same image quality that you would get in 2D.
I think the importance of this cannot be overstated. Now maybe the studios and publishers will finally accept that they can offer official VR ports of their games without huge investments, while at the same time keeping the graphics quality at AAA levels.
See you tomorrow for the release!

I know that I am late to the game (pun intended) but I get strange full screen flashes every few seconds on U4. Never experienced this before on any other REALVR Mod. Using the latest early access version...
Can you do me a favor and post this under one of the newer Patreon posts please? It is far more likely to get seen that way😉 . Thankfully I get emails now when people post but it isn't always reliable. In your new post, could you also include what headset you are using and how it is connected if not DisplayPort? U4 is Uncharted 4?
People that think it is too much to ask to pay for patreon at least once for all this work are CRAZY. Just saying. Playing Indi right now and it runs perfect already and looks great.
Hi id like to bounce of an issue that I'm not sure how to resolve, below i'll specify hmd, specs and resolution steps: HMD: quest 3 GPU: RTX 4090 CPU: 9800x3d to experience best fidelity with this setup i found myself aiming for 60fps on game resolution (as presented in the REAL Mod overlay) relatively high settings, DLSS Quality (HQ,Q,B,P,UP) around 27.9 -30 PPD 1/3 or 1/2 rate it was working very nice, Pandora looked beautiful as hell and gameplay was quite fluid with just the trade offs i was ok with at the frame rate (FR) generated. now for some reason i've not been able to recreate that experience - my FR are tanking down to 40/30fps and even when switching to DLSS P i literally get no gains in FR, which is weird. i've made sure all background apps are closed, i've played around with settings (minimized RT related settings to low or off) i've adjusted PPD to much lower than comfortable to "provoke" some FR gains and executed a clean RealConfig.bat (deleting previous configs). only effective measure is lowering PPD significantly - not good. another thing to note - when setting the PPD scale to another value the "adapt" button presents the resolution at that PPD, that resolution is quite higher than i would expect (compared to other games and my memory from when setting identical PPD that resulted in the target performance I'm now chasing) i've checked the nvidia app in case there's any Global DSR settings set but it's still set to "OFF". I'm not sure where the increased resolution is stemming from, and I'm not sure why suddenly the performance is tanking (quite curious since the fidelity is significantly lowered and I'm still not able to produce near 60 fps). sorry for the long text, i just wanted to provide details on the matter - just like i would've wanted it. but ask away for clarification. any advice will be appreciated
Did you update the game to DLSS 4? Did you switch to the newest version of the mod? There was a game update a bit ago that was supposed to improve stability. Are you on the latest GPU driver? Maybe try rolling back a driver if so, unless performance was the same after updating the driver. There have been so many games Luke has done recently that I haven't played them much :( Except for Rebirth and DS2 because those are games I actually very much want to play!! I kinda got taken out of the flow of the story for Avatar and just haven't jumped back in other than for testing. Have you made any changes in Oculus Debug Tool? How are you connecting your Q3? Also double check your game video/display settings against the release post to make sure they are set correctly.
While in the cockpit view of Panams Tank, look is reversed. It's fine in 3rd person, but in side the vehicle I look left and the camera turns right. Outside in 3rd person, the targeting reticle isn't really there either so I have to hope I'm aiming correctly.
Do you think this will also work with loss less scaling or no?
It just caused issues for me. I don't see how it would work but a couple people said they have gotten it working. Couldn't get any kind of answer on what settings they used when I asked though. Lossless scaling would affect the monitor image of the game and not the headset image.
Shimmering in Elden Ring resolved: Thank you Luke! You have outdone yourself. I spent a few :) hours in December 2024 playing Elden Ring with your mod v16 (and then 16.1), and you have absolutely resolved the shimmering issue. I wish there could be a press release. People need to know! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I feel like ER is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, and once played in VR a person would never back to play it in 2D. But until this v16 release, shimmering was quite bad. Now you've made it beautiful. I'm running a RTX4080Super, LukeRoss mod v16, Texture Improvements 2k full pack, the EldenRingReforged 1.25 mod from Nexus, MinimalHud 32 all options, at 3088x3088 (and often at 3400x3400) resolution. Yes, my build is loaded, but the newer textures are so efficient that they process better than the stock textures, much better detail and less processing power required. Its the only way to play this game, and it's gorgeous. I think I can confidently say that with the addition of your mod v16+, the shimmer is gone. I've been holding off playing in VR waiting for something to sort out the shimmering issue, and thought maybe the 5090 series might help because I could run the game at a higher resolution. Well, the issue wasn't about GPU power was it. I didn't need that GPU thank god, we just needed a brilliant mind --- yours just in case you didn't know where I was going with that --- and the will to use it.
Ugh, I am so jealous. I wish I could experience my first Elden Ring playthrough with DLSSS. The game looks soooo good now!! I am hoping to maybe do a co-op run somewhere down the line when I have some free time :) Exploring the amazing worlds From Soft creates in nearly perfect 3d VR is a dream come true for me. Elden Ring was probably my least favorite of the bunch (probably sounds crazy I know) but it is still a freaking amazing game and world to explore. Actually feels like a grand and immense adventure, unlike a lot of games these days.
Are there any suggested settings/changes to get this working well with AMD? I have the best AMD card currently available (7900 xtx) and at least with the default settings, when moving the frames drop and tear so bad that it's nearly unplayable. I had asked in the flat 2 VR discord before becoming a member, and was told this would still be the best mod for AMD GPUs, but after reading through here it sounds like this mod may only really work well with Nvidia?
Nvidia has some giant plusses for sure! I'd think you can still get a decent experience that card though. I was able to get an ok experience with 3080ti before the optis and DLSSS. Run the config file to reset the in-game settings to mostly low and then turn off screen space reflections. Focus only on increasing resolution as much as you can while maintaining the appropriate fps target for whatever rendering mode you are using vs your refresh rate your headset is set to. What headset are you using and what rendering mode?
merci pour vos conseille brandon tous fonctionne avec pimax mile merci
Good to hear, you are welcome :)
Just a note of appreciation - Haven't played Cyberpunk in a while.. maybe a year or so. When I last played, it was a bit rough.. Spent a lot of time with settings.. 1/3, 1/2.. DLSS on.. off.. Ray tracing on.. off... Just got back on with the latest mod.. And I'm tellin ya, it's 1,000 times better. Best part. I started with default config.. No ghosting.. no shimmering. Game looks incredible! It's literally like playing the 2d game.. but in full 3D. And it's never been this smooth. Luke/Brandon, well done. Btw, Brandon, good job on the install video - 7 minutes and it made a world of difference.
Glad the vid helped ;) Also, glad you are enjoying the mod so much! Pretty much all the credit goes to Luke, he has worked tirelessly lately to improve the quality of the framework. I don't sleep well in general, but I definitely do not miss any nights of sleep like he does 🙃
For clarification: Is 1/3 or 1/2 in the ingame menu the same as AER v2?
Yup Yup. They generate extra frames for increased fluidity and get rid of the motion jitter that was an issue with Legacy. I am still a stubborn Legacy user ;)
I wish you could make it work for star citizen
Having issues with Cyberpunk. Game launches but the display is two weirdly misplaced floating overlapped screens, one in each eye (not theater mode). Also can't get any controls to register, Keyboard/mouse or a controller.
What headset and how is it connected if not DisplayPort? Do you have OpenXR toolkit installed? Any other overlays or gaming/optimization software running? Have you changed any settings after running the config file? Like turning on Frame Gen?
Snowdrop is really jawdropping, and in VR even more, fuck UE XD Thans so much Santa Ross for this magic GIFT !!!!
No need to make it a competition. Both have some great experiences to enjoy in VR. I'd like to think we are kind of on the same team of doing what game dev's won't and bringing high end gaming experiences to VR lovers. Different groups but hopefully kind of the same team in the end. Of course, you are always welcome to your own opinion. That is just mine :) I think people should be open to enjoying all the VR experiences they can get their hands on.
going back to cyberpunk, thank you for your hard work, you are the best!
Sadenned here because I have an RX7900XT and I had to become a member here to be able to read that this can only work well on Nvidia.
Yeah, it is unfortunate :( Let's hope that AMD goes the same route as DLSS with their next release. Are you able to read the posts as a free member? Another thing I would suggest, is joining the Flat2VR discord. People will usually ask about new releases there and others will tell them what it includes so they have more info before joining again. It is a really good place to stay informed. On the plus side, you get access to Avatar in VR. Is this your first time joining?
I am in awe of your coding abilities. You are far and beyond the most impressive modder that I know of. What is your story?
Have you ever seen the Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie? He is like the Elf that wants to be a dentist, but instead he wanted to be a software engineer. His secret lair is actually Santas workshop. Shhhhh , don't tell anyone.
having trouble with this and what you mean by sending the active renderer to OpenXR. I have a Valve Index, running SteamVR. The overlay says its set to SteamVR. I can't change it to anything else. Going by your instructions, I'm supposed to set the settings in the mod to openXR and the steam settings to openxr. Currently, it just crashes. It crashes on every setting except for the legacy settings rather than 1/2 or 1/3. Please advise.
I don't think you can use OpenXR with Index. It is just a general message that using OpenVR is not going to work as well, like you can't use the FOV optimizations. You could try using OpenXR in the runtime dropdown in the REAL overlay main tab. If that doesn't work, then you are stuck with OpenVR which makes sense. It is not a problem necessarily, just not an optimal situation for these mods to run in. What game are you trying to play? If you want to put a copy of your RealVR64.log file on pastebin and post a link here, I'll take a look for issues.
Wow, just… wow! Luke Ross, thank you so much for your incredible work! I’ve been playing VR for years, and honestly, I never thought anything could still surprise me like this. But here I am—completely blown away! The sense of scale in the world, feeling like a true giant in the open world, the image clarity, the fluidity—it’s just unbelievable. And that DLSS fix? Chef’s kiss! Better quality with the same (or even better) performance—how is that even possible?! We’re so lucky to have brilliant minds like yours bringing us these incredible experiences. You’re a genius, and I couldn’t be more grateful!
I really don't know what I'm doing wrong... :( I downloaded this zip file, copied it into \Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy, extracted all, and copied the 3 files into \Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64, and when it asked me, I selected the option "replace files". But every time I try to play, I get a screen asking me to install the V.16... What am I doing wrong???? :'(
If you go to the Pinned post at the top, there is an install video. One of the games I install for is Hogwarts, so just follow along :) https://www.patreon.com/posts/welcome-new-tour-117463449
Not to clog up chat here but just a clarification question please. Am I correct that If the Horizontal FOV box is checked ( Vertical is grayed out for me) I will have black bars on the sides of my vision? I know I can stop them from shaking by dragging the middle slider down to 0.000 but the cost of the FOV performance improvents are the black bars and there is no way to remove them correct?
Depends on headset. If you are using a Meta headset you can change the FOV tangent multiplier in the Oculus Debug Tool to something like 1.1:1 if you are using Link. I don't know of any other headsets that have that option unfortunately. If the Vfov option is greyed out, I am guessing you are not using a Meta headset.
Well I have bought pimax crystal light for this ocasion 100% rendering res is 4352x5100 to display native 2880x2880 per eye . That is insane resolution and I feel watercooled 4090 overclocked to 3ghz not really is enough here but now will try DLSS P to hit that target as shimmering is gone . Otherwise I would have to pay insane $$$ for 5090 (I prapoblly still will ) :D
Hey, what is your runtime configuration? I tried to install Oculus/Meta, but REAL mod doesn't start, Pimax/OpenXR in Real have artifacts, I ended up using OpenVR in Real and PimaXR in PimaxPlay.
Were all bad for playing Cyberpunk. Naughty, Naughty, Naughty.
Santa found out about my trip to Amsterdam didn't he?
Yea , In Amsterdam day is almost over but I hope He will be in US time zone :D
Good night guys, I'm going to bed
Wish life had a time multiplier like Lukes Mod! 1000x!
ETA? :)
Be honest everyone. How many here are holding thier phones in thier hands trying to watch somthing on Netflix..........just waiting for that email notification?
Yepppp! although I’m from the UK so timing sucks for me. Just bought the game, now to speed sleep and take the day off work. Hoping I awake to the mods news!
quick quick !! i cant wait to explore pandora :) thx for your job and happy christmas
Hey Luke, gonna try to say this without sounding weird and romantic... here goes..... um.... You're the Panam to my crippling brain trauma! Nailed it! Best friends!
Well Luke now is the time. Like Johnny said : ,, Show me what U Got '' xD Today is the Day !!!
Big Thanks for your Works ! <3 You are like Flat2VR, Praydog, Ggodin... The Masters of PCVR ! Can't wait for Spiderman 2 LR VR Mod ! :) Curious about Indiana Jones its Vulkan ok but it works with Reshade there is tuto on Flat2VR/3Ddepthmax Discord to use this game in SBS/Reshade & Vulkan... There is still a hope to get a VR mod for this one ? A dream to play it in VR... ;)
Helifax is an expert with Vulkan he has Wolfstein mod which is excellent
looking forward for the release. really hyped to see dlsss in action.
Luke you never cease to amaze, the lengths you go to are truly inspiring and ive lost count at the amount of hours ive sunk into your mods (prob more than native) and i hope you will be around for many more years to come, but remember to take a break every now and then ;) And Brandon where would we all be without you and your tireless efforts to make sure no questions go unanswered and also what a great video []-D i had to watch it twice it was so good. Anyways when this new version drops its gonna be one for the history books so ill leave you all to your F5 spamming and wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and heres to 2025 and beyond. Stay safe folks and Cheers.
Thanks so much for the kind words, Gaz!! This year has gone by so fast. I too hope Luke is around for many more years! Enjoy your time in Pandora in VR, it really brings back that old feeling of exploring in the wilderness when I was a kid. I'd spend hours out there with my cousins.
Itching to play this tonight, fingers crossed. I’ve been scratching my neck like an addict waiting on this for a few days.
Wait, is it today or tomorrow? I'm over here jumping out of my skin haha.
He said tomorrow 22h ago ... who knows.
I just received email and at the bottom the attachment was V14? When is the new version coming out?
Any time today ;) Version 14 was a while back; we are on 15 currently. Should be version 16 for the new one.
Thank you Brandon for your quick response RE:RDR2. Suspect latest release maybe tomorrow now, SW outlaws is amazing conversion can't wait for Avatar and DLSSSS :)
Your brain is so hot - I'd take it out and stroke it if I could - I'm amazed and grateful for all the work you do to make our VR dreams come true - happy holidays!
Hmmmm, would taking out someone's brain and stroking it put you on the naughty list???
Amazing as always, thank you!
I play all my games mono because of my eyes it's no difference for me than with stereoscopic 3D. So I already have a big performance bonus compared to others with my RTX 4080. Will this impact the image quality of DLSS in mono-mode too?
That is a good question. I wouldn't think that it would in any major way. I never bothered to try though :)
Very excited for the Avatar mod, it’s dropping today right? What time……
From yesterday's post, it sounds like it is dropping today. I would guess somewhere in the afternoon (US time), but I don't really know.
My dudes.... you and brandon are two of the coolest people i know about. I dont know you guys but you guys have really contributed to vr in a major way. I think more so than any of these big companys.
Luke definitely has contributed to VR in a major way!! I would probably still be using a 2060 super if it wasn't for Luke and Praydog. Hell, I honestly don't even know if I would still be playing VR games if he hadn't showed up on the scene. VR modders definitely have a huge place in keeping VR alive and Luke is right at the top of that list. The VR Modfather ;)
DLSSSSSS (Deep Learning Stereo Space Sharp Super Sampling for Santa)
No... just... no 🤦♂️
...legend :)
i have a question that comes into my mind since yesterday... as you are actually working using data provided to the dlss dll, could be tecnically possible to modify the dlss itself (or make an hook dll) to make it universally compatibile with ALL games ? would be a godsend for other mods too (cough ... uevr cough cough) or does it require specific tuning for each game to make it happen ? ;) There are a couple ways to remove ghosting in uevr, there's a specific checkbox (when it works) or switching out from native stereo losing a lot of fps. maybe with this we could be able to keep native stereo?
I asked roughly the same thing and he said it is not really feasible. It does need to be fine tuned for each game. It is still a work in progress though, so no real way to tell how things will change down the line for absolute certain. DLSS 4 is right around the corner along with the next Nvidia architecture. We don't know yet what changes that will bring in itself...
Hi all, this is all interesting stuff! I'm wondering what the min playable spec is as I've not been able to get anything playable from my i5, 16 gb ram, rtx 3050.
A 3050 for VR is really quite low end. It also depends on what i5 you have. Do you have good performance (as in above 60fps) in the game you play? VR is a lot more demanding than traditional 2D displays normally
So wat would be the prefered settings on cp2077 now with a 4090 and this mod active? Also what best aer legaca 1/2 or 1/3?
That is going to be subjective to an extent, especially now that you can throw some heavy DLSS in the mix. I mean, I was able to record pretty good quality captures while playing at around 28,29 ppd on a Quest 3 using 1/2 set at 90hz. Avatar was a little tricky to keep there and it really depended on my location in the world and where I was looking. Similar to Outlaws, it can really hit fps hard depending on where you are at and how much is going on with the foliage etc. If you can handle 72 fps at 1/2, you can play with some pretty high ppd and settings if your headset can be set to that. I'll try to do a general setup video in January. I think one of the biggest advantages of the DLSS fix is that it makes 1/2 more of a valid option over 1/3. Elden ring especially benefits from the DLSS fix, honestly wish I hadn't played through it already. Looks so freaking good on my Aero.
Aw yeahhh I was visiting the page today planning on asking what the timeframe was for the new engine; days? Weeks? 2025? So this is the best possible thing I could've seen today! It's admirable that not only are you just continuing to add games to your existing engine (which would be perfectly fine), but you've spent so much time and energy over the last few years brainstorming ways to re-invent your engine and bring entirely new functionality to it! You easily could've rested on your laurels with this, but instead, you've chosen to put in far more time and work to keep improving it. That's worthy of more than a few metaphorical pats on the back. Thank you so much for being the kind of person you've chosen to be. (Brandon, too!)
Pretty much all Luke! He has done so much work to improve the quality of the mods this year!! It is crazy how much extra performance he has pulled out of his hat. If only Nvidia had the same desire for people to enjoy gaming :(
Excellent news for the holidays! That shimmering around the edges on VR mods is the main draw back for me, compared to flat screen! Can't wait to try it! I'm halfway on my HFW playthrough.
I've got Avatar Ghosts of Tsushima Cyberpunk Grounded StarWars: Outlaws All waiting for me under the tree. What games are other people considering as a result of DLSSSanta? Which ones should I play next?
Grounded doesn't have DLSS does it? Did they add it in a recent update or something?
Do you think we'll ever see a VR mod for Indiana Jones or Starfield?
Brandon said under a previous post that Indiana Jones is not going to happen bc it’s Vulkan (💔)… Starfield was also said to be unlikely, but I think he said someone else somewhere is working on a VR mod for it? Haven’t looked into that myself yet. Edit: Found the Starfield mod, it’s being made by someone named Mutar. Join the Flat2VR discord, there’s a forum thread about it. Currently very limited invite-only beta, but it looks awesome.
Any chance that we'll ever see dynamic foveated rendering in Cyberpunk?
Not until foveated rendering is mainstream. There is rumors that valves new headset as well as the quest 4 will have foveated rendering so when those release in a couple years from now than there can be talks of that.
Amazing. AAA devs should just outsource their VR implementation to you
Thank you Luke and Brandon! May something inspire us all!
I'm very excited to see how this works. But I guess I'm also a bit confused. When you say it's "Basically free" Does that mean we'll be getting same levels of performance now with no extra hit? Or does it mean we'll be getting WAY BETTER performance, almost as if we're playing in 2d? Does this also mean Raytracing might finally be possible with steady FPS In VR?
I think it simply allows for dlss, which gives performance. Many people would forgo dlss since the shimmer was pretty bad? I think fps will be same but simply clearer?
Love to see this. I just hate that modern games are all fundamentally designed around TAA in the first place. It makes everything so blurry and artifacted. But then if you force disable it, everything looks shimmery since that was never even considered during development.
Absofreakinlutely!!
Sounds great! I look forward to not needing to forcibly disable TAA in games to avoid ghosting.
wonder if the DLSS improvements are available for older perhaps no longer supported titles that still use DLSS?
No, Luke has not ported any of them over to any recent version of the framework. He did fix RDR2 already in this regard long ago.
Dude, this us huge. Thank you so much!
Incredible news, thanks so much Luke!
Honestly, I'm just pissed off that these game publishers and developers don't seek out these mods and implement them natively. You and your contributors should be celebrated at the Game Awards and paid far more than you get from your Patreon supporters are capable. VR is only in a rut because execs aren't in touch with reality...
Amazing work, Luke, truly amazing. PCVR would have been dead (for me) a long time ago if it wasn't for people like yourself, this is one of those areas where the independents are showing the multi-billion dollar corporations how it's done.
Great stuff can’t wait 😁
Thank you for your dedication mate.
Words cannot express how saddening it is that a certain Wild West game will not receive any of these new upgrades.
Hogwash may be appropriate??? Or bullsh!t
Cannot wait to try it Luke. You are one of the main reasons I can still game, thanks as always (including Brandon as well).
Me too. Never would have finished many games without the mod
wait wait have i read Pandora ? yesssss i was right stopping playing!! gonna get all dlcs for this holidays, best christmas present ever! thanks. and fix for dlss too! wonderful
You're a legend
Oh boy... Thank you!
Gaben, if you're listening... Very hyped for this update!
This modset just keeps getting better and better! For a little bit I was kicking myself for not being able (or willing) to get a 4090 to run these VR titles, but you keeping dishing out things that make it look or run better for my 4080S. STOKED! Thanks Luke!
So what cards are supported ? 20XX is enought ?
I don't think we have tried on anything but our 4090's but I would think it would work as long as your card can use DLSS.
Thank you for all you do I hope someday the industry at large will notice and appreciate your work… VR should be an option on every game
> using only the information that the engine already provides to NVIDIA's DLSS libraries Witty idea !!!
Thanks so much for this detailed explanation. I can't wait for tomorrow :) I have a feeling that one year (hopefully sooner than later) your vision of Game Creator collaboration will come true and you will win an award at The Game Awards 2026 :) May the Force be with You Luke...
I am in awe at your magnificent work. Thank you times 1 Million good sir!
Thats awesome. Just upgraded two weeks ago to a RTX 4080 from a AMD card. Right decision I guess
Awwwww yeah!!!! Time to reinstall Cyberpunk and Farcry 4!!! Thanks for all your hard work! It is very very much appreciated. Hope you get some time off yourself for a bit.
FC4 does not have DLSS :( None of the FC series does unfortunately.
Thanks fore the sleepless nights, can't wait for tomorrow.
Holy sh-
You’re the absolute best, Luke. Something like this was my pipe-dream hope for what you were working on, but I thought I was setting my expectations too high. Thank you! Now go enjoy some much deserved holiday time off!
I will be testing this regardless on my AMD and report back. Thank you
Hey man ! Wonderful job. Also any news on FOV optimizations to non quest devices ? I have pico4 and those horizontal/vertical boxes are still grayed out.
Pico 4 fov is already optimal in both directions, that is why they are greyed out.
🚀🚀🎄
Absolutely phenomenal work! What an early Christmas present 🎁 your work is amazing thank you!
Hell Yes!! I’ll be diving into your mods for the first time tomorrow, I can’t believe I’ll have the opportunity to experience Cyberpunk in VR. THANK YOU!
😍😍😍
