PC broke
Hey guys,
I had a PC crash on Friday and it seems like it sort of obliterated my PC. We tried repairing it, but it is not doing too well - whenever we turn it on and off different things go wrong each time. I sadly won't be able to work because of this and will devote Monday to try and do what I can to repair it :( With kids in the house over the weekend it's impossible.
But generally we fear that this PC is done for. It is 8 years old and I have not been using it gently, so I think it might be it's time. I am sorry, there will be delays with are ;( I have no power over this and I wanted to work but I can't. I will post any updates whenever I manage to repair it or if we need to get a new one. It's a damn shame, because PC parts nowadays are do darn expensive ;(

While it is true that the prices for RAM are in a painful spot these days, people are looking back to the prior generation of DDR memory and GPUs to try and save money. Because an AM4 (or Intel's equivalent) motherboard is cheaper to get these days than an AM5 (ditto on Intel again). And while DDR4 prices are going up because of this new demand, its still a bit better than the prices of DDR5. And Amdor is correct about Linus Tech Tips. They covered the topic very recently by comparing an AM4 X370 board with an X570 one using the same CPU, GPU, and memory capacity. They found that the generation gap doesn't impact performance in any way that a typical person will really notice.
Sux at such a time. I can only suggest checking out Linus Tech Tips channel - they had few ideas for sensibly priced pc's in this economy. Good luck Lana. Trzymam kciuki.
That is really bad, I wish I could help since I got spare pc parts and built over a dozen computers for friends and family. But that would involve time (and of course the best I could do is discount it by not charging for any parts I already have). Depending on how the computer died and if it's desktop or laptop some things may still be able to be salvaged.
Oh crap, good luck :(
Nooooooooo! Let us know if you set up any specific fundraising. I can't afford a commission from you, but I may be able to help in a smaller capacity
That's terrible news, I'm sorry :( Hope you can repair ir or find something reasonable U_U
