Trash flavor podcast?
I think this was your most interesting chat yet. I don't listen to a lot of of podcasts (basically Second Wind, Imaginary Worlds and you guys), but even your most off-topic ramblings are chock-full of thoughtful tidbits.
Annie, You talk about some people having extreme reactions to NTR, vs "yeah, so?" My personal reaction to most (male) harem games is "What? Everyone has sex, but only with the MC?" I'm sure there are some people that might be ok with something like this, but I would expect most people to think "if it's ok for you, it should be ok for me."
Honestly, Annie, I'm kinda with you on this one. I just kinda think NTR is okay. I don't hate it, and I don't love it. The guy hit on something that was my thoughts too. I think women like NTR (and I know several) seem to like it because they see things from the girl's perspective and like being pursued by multiple guys. I do wonder how women would feel if NTR was gender flipped. that would be fascinating to me!
i dunno, i have a feeling most guys would be fine if NTR was gender flip. how do i know that? because you're talking about the harem genre, i.e. the most popular genre in adult gaming by a mile. plus i know most guys don't have a problem when they or other guys cheat, but when women cheat oooh boy all hell breaks lose
NTR one woman one life - no women no life
Are you going for that lucrative McDonald's endorsement? Can't wait for the SPG Happy Meal toys! The Mysterious Co-Host with Action Sarcasm! Enjoying this episode as well as the shout-out. You may be surprised that there is a solid, growing segment of psychotherapists who both research and work with "flavors," as you call them, without pathologizing them. I wish this were true of the entire field, however we are making inroads. Excellent commentary on the DSM and psych history. Impressed you know what that is! And you are right about the sex-negative focus there. BUT also remember the works of the Kinsey's starting in the late 1940's. It was revolutionary. And I often argue how progressive Freud's ideas in the early 1900's were in understanding sexuality and its expressions in "flavors." He is greatly misunderstood as he was far more interested in understanding than shaming, even though many of his ideas were off. If not for them, we wouldn't be where we are now. The bottom line is sexuality is shamed through religion, primarily, as well as "lay" (pun not intended) societal mores that derive from religion. And one of the primary purposes of religion is what...? Control of women. I'm writing a novel here, so I'll stop. Love your work and thanks for doing it. Show name suggestion: Sex Podsitive Gaming (pun SUPER intended!)
This post is exceptional. Believe it or not, I have a sketch after the season I of the Being a Dik. The work is the book titled temporarily A4N (All For Nothing). To cut story short: 20% sub/dom senses are from parents, 20% memes all brands, 30% dao alchemy: beloved occupation goes first, and, also necessary, jin energy gives sex, but takes lifetime. And the rest 30% is karma, operational conditioning. So, right, having all layers. Who might disturb that layered cake and see what might happen if to get to the bottom of a personality
Re Palworld: I wonder if there are enough adult monster collecting games for that to be the theme of a video or podcast someday. Re NTR: I've always found it strange how vehement the hate for this is. It's not one of my flavors, but it also isn't a deal breaker for me if a game has other things going on I enjoy. It honestly seems pretty mild to me compared some of the other popular flavors. Your take on it here and in your “Why is NTR so Popular?” video helped me get a much better idea of why there are such strong feelings about it in both directions. Also, here's my terrible suggestion for a podcast name: Sex Podsitive Gaming
Looks like this podcast name has traction. We both came up with it at the same time.
39:20 Yeah in video games the audience is more involved while in movies and books the audience is not involved.
15:40 Yep Pure Onyx is basically like the classic Arcade Beat 'em up games like Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, River City Series, Golden Axe, Final Fight, Battletoads etc...
10:00 yeah episode 1 and 2 of pokemon anime 1st season is basically Ash fighting Pikachu to get inside the pokeball
Another great one. Talked about all the things that matter [to me]: female protagonists and even machine learning a bit. I have also made the argument that AI is not the same as ML, but that cat is not only out of the bag, but the cat has stolen the bag and is now beating people with it. So I give up 🤣. Looking forward to eight and three legged horses next week.
gotta say i really look forward to these :) i do want to say something you mentioned in the last podcast about how you stopped making videos about specific flavors because YouTube doesn't allow videos about flavors or fetishes? i know YouTube has gotten very weird about this sort of thing but that sounds utterly bizarre to me. it goes to show how the idea of having a fetish (and the word itself) has been given a pretty negative connotation, which is also bizarre to me. i mean everyone has something that turns them on more than other things, so having a sexual preference (i.e. a fetish) seems normal to me. in adult gaming news that you may or may not be aware of, an adult VN called Welcome to Nicest was banned from Patreon for it's subject matter. it's a shame because i was looking forward to it
