I weirdly enough grew up with Dave Chapelles sons. He moved to Yellow Springs, Ohio. He’s very controversial because he bought a ton of real estate locally. He also has been opening a comedy club in our old firehouse for a few years. I haven’t been back since 2023 so I don’t know if it’s fully open yet. He did shows in a cornfield during the pandemic where he brought other comics which were pretty cool. He hosted and did five minute segments between other comedians. I got to go to a couple and it was comedians sort of workshopping their stuff that they couldn’t do because all the comedy clubs were closed. It was a lot of fun. He did get way too drunk on stage a couple times.

Though I can only imagine how surreal this must be for Aiden to watch. Yet like with a TV series, is it wrong to be invested in the characters, wanting to know more about what makes them tick? To the point of lacking downward pressure to actually do shit - I find that without the 8 hr M-F work schedule structure, I have a really hard time doing anything, generally. You lose the framework that predetermines the way you spend a huge chunk of your time, so it feels really aimless. I'll take 2 weeks off, plan to catch up on all sorts of shit, and end up jerking off and farting for 12 days

As a fan of this show I really appreciate when you guys do one-off episodes like this. I think they punch way above their weight in terms of their impact on the show’s 700+ hour catalogue. The Yard as a whole is made significantly more interesting and special when you can think back and say “yeah one time one of them uploaded an hour-long video of himself striking a dummy of his co-host and then when he got out of breath he sat down and started reflecting on how the accumulation of time and comfort has settled him down but there’s still a fire in his soul that yearns to be heard” I think that’s also why Skeleton Episode™ got so many people perking their ears up. Being able to say “that time they did a __ episode ” and having the brief description of the concept be funny & interesting in its own right is something that is usually reserved for tv shows, IASIP or Community being two prominent examples. The fact that the Yard also has a good amount of those despite being a podcast is probably why it sometimes feels (as you and Nick have mentioned) like fans give the show more praise than ought to be given to a podcast. I’m sure there’s more to it than just that, but I definitely think it’s a contributing factor to the sense that the show has entertainment value beyond just the sum of each individual episode.
