Streamers don't have nicer cars because most high end brands are picky about who they will actually sell too and often require you to show "brand loyalty" by buying lower end models or used cars first. Like I know it sounds strange but it's a real thing and so even if you had the money a company like bugatti might just say nah and not sell to you. There’s nothing wrong with a full size SUV like a Durango or old explorer, or even an XL one like a Tahoe or an expedition. It’s crossover SUVs specifically that have over saturated the market with disposable garbage. Real SUVs are chill. Although now every new SUV is crossover size. The new Durango, explorer, forester, all of them. They’re all just cross overs now in the new revisions. SUVs aren’t even SUVs anymore. And XL SUVs are basically just Trucks.

I get what Aiden is saying about Lambo. I think it becomes like Rolex where people buy them as status symbols (the crypto bro with the lime brat green Lambo). Rolex used to be more in line with the idea of a "tool watch" (you buy one and wear the shit out of it and it will last because it's high quality) but now people are so afraid to scratch theirs. There's a guy who works at my local post office who wears an older Air King and I can tell he's worn it through out his entire career. In the same vein, Lambo/Ferrari were about the highest pedigree in motorsports and now there is weird shit like the Ferrari Luce EV which goes against everything that made Ferrari great (F1, Le Mans etc). It's like if you see some dude with a Lambo or a new Rolex out in public it's like oh ok cool I guess. For me, it's infinitely cooler for someone to be passionate and be like yeah I drive this old Honda fit that I K swapped because it already has a great gearbox and I thought it would be funny and dope to have a small economy car that's also a track weapon. Also here are all these other insane mods let me walk you through the process. There's also this older guy I see on my commute who drives this old BMW 5 series that's in like pristine condition. My guess is he bought it at the beginning of his career and just maintained it and kept waxing it to keep the paint clean. That's fucking baller. There's a beauty to keeping an older car stock and preserving the interior and all the quirks that made it a car of it's era. Obviously depends on the person but you get a vibe for if someone is actually into cars or just bought something because it looks exotic and they are trying to flex.

2001 Civic (EU8) driver here, Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2, best car, no other car is car. It is just the sickest thing ever designed and its ties to Group B rally only turn that knob on real good. Dream car is probably some sort of modified 90's kei hatchback, MCM Mira style, nothing cooler than a 660cc turbo'd tiny boy. Achievable too. The general point about having money and buying a Lamborghini that's new is pretty lame, Lamborghini is not like Ferrari in its forcing of people to engage with the brand and buy older cars first and then they can buy new models, they're immediately achievable as long as you have the money for it, it's pretty cringe. The mods people do are tacky and gaudy so it leads to Lamborghini surviving making sick cars (relative to a Civic anyway) because they can sell models to anyone but they'll always have to appeal to them which makes each subsequent new model worse. Ferrari has a brand and an image to uphold, which is why people hold them to a much higher standard (see backlash about the Luce), it is a much more knower brand but still pretty basic. There are too many sick restomods (reimagined old cars) to be buying ANY new supercar imo, a knower will always choose one of those or mod something older themselves or through a knower garage like Alfaholics or Singer for example. It's so easy to know what's cool and who knows ball in cars. Tyler the Creator is a ball knower.

Lancer EVO IV is pretty sweet. Practical as a sedan, amazing engine that can take a lot of mods, and a rally legend.

The dream is to get a clean OG Audi R8 with the gated manual. I wouldn’t mind getting the V8 since it’s pretty reliable and the barrier to entry is so much lower than the V10, but my opinion is admittedly being carried by the 2008 Ironman nostalgia factor.

As a non car guy I just want to extract as much value (not necessarily money) from my car as possible. That is why my next car will be a navy blue platinum toyota sienna.

My dad kept a 2005 car that was barely able to go up steep hills (its very hilly where i live) and he gave it to me which was awesome but he prevented me from getting a car, instead he wanted me to dump over $8k for a new transmission and install and other repairs, and he was saying because the car sucks i can only use it for work, i instead saved my money, bought a used 2017 hybrid total around 12k, then when i gave his 2005 back to him he instantly sold it and bought two used cars (non electric not even hybrid also older than my hybrid) instead of repairing it, curious that. btw i love my hybrid :)

I don't think many cars can fully represent car culture like a civic can. I have a first gen forester STI, it's very fun and interesting, but can't cover the sub cultures like a civic. They're built into focused track or street racers, the sexspec and more aesthetic builds work great, for daily driving even the newer models feel much more mechanical than other cars in the same category. If you're not into the big 4wd culture, you can probably find a civic that will work for you

the Volkswagen rabbit literally defined the car market for a decade + after it came out and was such a clean and sick design literally every car manufacturer at the time immediately ripped it off so, prob the gen 1 or gen 2 rabbit, pref the 2 door.

Also RUF has a cool story since it was the only way to get Porsche cars into Grand Turismo. EA and the licensing rights to Porsche cars in games, but RUF was a different company that used Porsche 911 bodies to build cars. So gran Turismo was able to add the 911 into the game under RUF.

Its Aiden glaze time! Time for a little Aiden glazing. Aiden has been playing along with jokes at his expense really well. The others will make some outlandish statement and he will make a joke of half denying it but still engaging with the bit. Couple of examples are "dropping regular yokes" bit or from this episode "I'd only rewatch it 4 times". His playing along really enhances the joke and I've been enjoying them a lot. The other Yard members aren't brave enough to admit he's been funny.

I think i agree with Aiden but I think part of the point he’s trying to make that I agree with (correct me if I’m wrong) is like if you buy an expensive car from a “cool” brand just to flex basically and just cus you have money its lame. So seeing expensive stock cars from Lamborghini or Ferrari is kinda lame but if you like cars you would choose a cooler and more unique car not just an expensive one.
