Law School - Episode 6 - Devlog #1
Hello everyone,
We're back on the grind!
First off, thank you all for the feedback and the fun I had reading your messages, seeing your reactions, and hearing your theories about everything that happened in this episode. You guys really helped me feel good about it, and I'm starting work on episode 6 with a clear head.
I hope you'll excuse the lack of episode 6 content in this devlog's promo image, but I haven't started rendering yet. Instead, I've been organizing my workspace a bit more and laying out the events planned for this episode so I could get into writing. Which I did.
This whole episode has been planned start to finish, like I usually do before any dev cycle. Size-wise, it's currently as big as episode 5, so I already know it'll end up bigger since I always add content along the way. It'll be a challenge, but I'm up for it, and honestly pretty excited for this one.
Where the last episode leaned heavily on the party as the main event, this one's going to focus on the main plot, and mostly on the LI's character development. MC is now exclusive with one girl (or will be, throughout the episode), so we get scenes of more and more people realizing that, which make for some genuinely heartwarming moments. The last episode was sadder than what I usually put out, for good reason, so I'm trying not to make that a trend.
I got started on writing last night. Or this morning, really, since it's 6am as I'm posting this. I'm very happy with how the beginning of the episode is shaping up. The first 3 days are still led by the "am I going to settle with you or not" thread (or "will you let me settle for you after what I did," depending on how you played things), but after that it finally goes single path, and I can't wait for that.
While we're on the subject, I want to address the scoring system from LS ep5, the percentage system. It's not there for you to play and check your phone after every decision. It actually updates a few lines later on purpose, because I don't want this turning into "playing to the stat instead of playing the character". The system exists so I can show certain events with the LI, or unlock certain answers in choices, only if you meet a minimum score. But if it turns into that kind of min-maxing, I can always hide it and just let it run in the background.
My point is: make decisions, take chances, see where it leads you. I don't want the story to feel smaller because you're spending too much time optimizing something that doesn't move character development that much :)
Anyway, let's talk numbers:

Yeah, mind-blowing, I know. But that's what this week's been for. I've actually blocked out three scenes in the script already (comments on what happens and how), and now I need to turn those directives into actual dialogue. That's today's job, and I'll probably get into 3D work later tonight.

hey maya loved the update.. no thats a lie, i did love it but the MIRI reveal at the lake well i really hope you have a 'way out' for this story thread planned because she is such an amazing character and i know as a writer drama builds a storys narrative but come on please giving someone a no win love story is just asking for players to fall into depression.. you can make the argument of enjoying the time they have left and everything else but in this day and age where suffering is all around we come to these visual novels to find an escape from this and to have a MAIN LI scripted as a heartbreaking end is just CeCe(leap of faith) levels of good writing but do i really wanna keep reading this when i already have enough drama in my life'... i do love your work and its a bold choice but this time i just cant get behind the choice given the characters importance
How is this game downloaded? Just want to make sure I can download before I pay for the membership.
Hey Maya, I just wanted to say something that I hope gives you a little encouragement. I recently finished going through Law School season 1 and just played 4 and 5 a day ago and honestly I didn't expect the game to affect me as much as it did. I've found myself thinking about characters and the story constantly, and even songs I happened to listen to while playing have become associated with certain moments in the game. I know you've mentioned in your devlogs that you've been dealing with some difficult things but I just wanted you to know that the work you're putting into Law School genuinely means something to people. For me it isn't just an AVN that I played and moved on from. the novel and story choices actually stuck with me and I have found my self wanting to replay every chance I get. so whatever you're going through personally the doubts and everything else, I hope you keep going and give yourself credit for what you have and will create. Take care, and thank you for making something that clearly meant more to me than I expected it to.
How do I get the walk through for me being the bartender i only remembered one drink and that's Vicktors cause it's the easiest and just vodka
Jessica - Pina Colada, Viktor - Vodka, Aurora -Whiskey Sour, Fang - Bloody Mary, John - Cuba Libre, Miranda - Amaretto Sour. Everyone gets what is underneath their picture except Viktor and Miranda whose have to be swapped

Wow definitely the best episode of an AVN I’ve ever played auroras story is so amazing and her growth and the other characters reactions to her is really great the visuals are amazing MM you continue to amaze me On To Episode 6

probably a very rare feed-back for the creator. I do love your special style of the face for the girls, when they are pouting: And here I prefer the comment "cute" than "sexy". But this is surely the style where I always will know, I do see a novel/game of MisterMaya. Nice.

Mr. Maya, I know I am bringing up the rear but I have to take care of life before I can spend time enjoying your evolving story. Either way, I appreciate the time and effort you have taken to develop a story with many different layers as well as characters with real backgrounds that you have all brought together for us. While the Main Character was having fun with the different girls, he should have known that it was going to come back and bite him hard. OF all the female characters so far, I see Miri as being the most mature of all of them, including the female faculty at the school. She also seems to have an inner grace that transcends the other girls. As with everybody else, I will be eagerly awaiting your release of Episode 6 when you have finished it!

I agree. I really enjoyed my blind run where i ended up with Rora. It was a wholesome moment finally committing to one person. That being said, I can't wait for Danielle to take my soul. Depending on her lewd scene she might take my top spot over Rora.

I'm really happy with all the content in the last episode, but one thing that I want is a lewd scene between the MC and Rose, even if it cuts down on the number of other lewd scenes and takes place at the end of the episode. I want to see the family stuff get resolved like everyone else, but the MC and Rose is what I want the most.
Think everyone is ready for some Rose on Connor action. 😉
