Law School Episode 5 - DevLog #26
I don't usually drop shots like this in devlogs, but I like this one too much to keep it to myself. Have a little teaser of the Olive route for episode 5 (if you've been making the right choices 👀)

Last week went pretty much as planned. The goal was to get started on the cutscene, and I did exactly that yesterday night. Actually went further than expected and finished the whole scene containing it, so now I've looped back and started on the next segment. It's a big one, roughly twice the content of the previous cutscene, but nothing I can't handle.
Aiming to wrap it up within the next ten days.
On the story side of things, we are finally out of that house. Back to Stocklinburg, and I will happily never open that environment again, lol.
Now, I don't know what the weather's been like where you are, but it's been absolutely brutal here. My office hits 37 degrees Celsius when the PCs are rendering, which is just not workable. I kept finding myself stepping out without even thinking about it. By Thursday I had maybe 40 renders done for the week, which was rough. I decided to shut the render rigs down for now, and that brought it down to a more bearable 31 degrees. Still warm, but cool enough to actually focus and get back to a decent pace. Between Friday and Sunday I knocked out around 130 renders, which is solid.
I've ordered a portable AC, though it won't arrive until mid-July. Until then the plan is to run the PCs at night only and work during the day. Not ideal, but it's the best I can do during this heatwave. At least the content is moving.
Anyway, let's talk numbers:
Static renders: 4,005
Animations: 157
Story content: 58 scenes written (60,395 words)
We officially crossed 4,000 static renders, making this my biggest episode yet on that front. There's still one lewd scene and the cutscene animations left, so cracking 200 animations is well within reach. Very happy with where things stand.
It has taken longer than I expected, I won't pretend otherwise. But honestly, the quality has gone up along the way, and in terms of artistic direction this is probably my strongest episode yet, so I'll take it.
Next week is going to be all about the cutscene animations. Once that's done, it's just the last 6 scenes of the episode left.
That's it for this one. Thanks for the support and the kind words, genuinely. I tend to get in my own head about the six-month window I set for myself, and I know this one has gone past it. I appreciate you sticking around and reassuring me, this helps a ton.

J'ai longtemps hésité à vous écrire en anglais, mais comme je ne le maîtrise pas très bien, je préfère vous écrire en français. J'espère que cela ne vous dérangera pas. J'ai joué à **The Entrepreneur** et j'ai vraiment beaucoup apprécié son histoire. Ensuite, j'ai découvert **Law School**, et je dois dire que j'ai encore plus aimé cette aventure. L'histoire m'a captivé du début à la fin, et la qualité des animations est tout simplement impressionnante. Franchement, vous avez réalisé un travail incroyable. Mes personnages préférés sont Miranda et Sana. Je me suis beaucoup attaché à elles au fil de l'histoire. Si je pouvais me permettre une petite suggestion, j'aimerais que le système de romance aille encore plus loin dans les prochaines saisons. Par exemple, pouvoir construire une véritable vie avec l'une des protagonistes, voire avoir un enfant avec elle. Je sais que c'est une idée assez ambitieuse et que cela demanderait énormément de travail, mais je trouve que cela renforcerait encore davantage l'immersion et les liens avec les personnages. Je pourrais continuer à parler de vos jeux pendant encore longtemps, mais je vais m'arrêter là. Je voulais simplement vous remercier pour tout le travail que vous avez fourni. On sent la passion qu'il y a derrière vos créations, et c'est ce qui les rend si agréables à découvrir. J'espère sincèrement que l'histoire permettra un jour une saison 3, voire une saison 4. En attendant, j'attends avec impatience la sortie de la saison 2 sur Steam. Merci encore, et je vous souhaite beaucoup de réussite pour la suite de vos projets !
Bonjour Antonin, Merci pour le message! En effet c'est beaucoup de boulot de réaliser ça, mais je veux vraiment viser autant de progression que mon corps ne le permettra avec chaque Love Interest. Je suis content de voir Sana recevoir un peu d'amour car elle a vraiment brillé sur ce 5e épisode, et je suis content de développer son histoire :) Je vais continuer à faire de mon mieux avec le reste, merci encore!

Not sure if you've already tried this, but I had a similar issue with room temperatures while programming, gaming, and running AI workloads on my RTX 3090. I undervolted it using MSI Afterburner, and it noticeably reduced both GPU temps and the amount of heat dumped into my room without affecting my workloads in any meaningful way. Since you're dealing with multiple render rigs, I know it won't solve everything, but it might be worth experimenting with if you haven't already.
Well I did undervolt them to 95% I could try lower and see if it makes a difference :)

heatwave is crazy and with constant heat emissions in a room,it gets really bad still you did great job man and hopefully I had make those right choice 😉 or need to restart or use builder mode ,Good Luck for next week

Fun Fact: Olive is adorable
Funny with the timing and the numbers of the temps.. It's been cooking here too... 37c - 39c if gaming/working. 31c - 33c if not. In my case it's mostly because I live in a concrete flat, where 2/3rd of it is under ground. The ground is pretty much solid rock that get heated/baked in the sun more than half the day, which in turn make my "home" a oven. >< I happened to buy a portable AC at a local electro store yesterday.. Got the temps to about 23c, before I took it down so I could shut the window for the night. Woke up to a much "chiller" 25.5c today. (about 6hr sleep) And now the AC is cranking again! :P Thank you for that Olive "sneak peek",! She's Easily in my top 3. (She and Miranda probably sharing 1st for me). Season 1 I've done all possible thinkable routes. Season 2, I'm only at 5 playthroughs. "None", 'Olive', 'Miri', 'Elsa' and 'Aurora'.(I will catch up on all routes eventually, I've just been slacking "just in case" saves get borked and I have to "restart" on season 2. (Never know) The "None" playthroughs are for potential future paths(If I can have goth mommy plz!) This route is also a "testing method" for me in any VN. If I enjoy the story without the "adult content" it's a good VN, thus worth my time! (Both The Entrepreneur, and Law School has achieved that, so far! - So, Well done! And Thank you!) Hope your AC arrive in the early half! (or sooner) And that you'll have a great summer even in the boiling heat!
