Random collection of things
Hi Patreonizers! Your very tired internet friend Simone here.
Today has been a fun, albeit long day. Just got back from filming a video with Kari Byron that is going up in mid October. A few months ago we had talked about making brains out of vegan gelatin and blowing them up.
I can't really remember why we wanted to blow brains up, but we were committed to the project. And I feel like at this point we're past the point where we need a point to do anything. So we went to the bomb range and threw some explosives into gelatin brains. Watch out, Brian.
I spent the weekend making some new cupboard knobs out of threaded brass rod. Just cut the rod up, drilled holes and tapped them. Really happy with how they came out. Trés build chic and #notashittyrobot.
I've been answering a bunch of mail from you. And sending out thank you notes to the people who helped write recommendation letters for my US visa, because yay, it got approved!
Photos from @teepearls, @electriclilacs and @cmdanby
I have been seeing some of you post your #pieceofpegboard and it makes me so happy. It's like when your child sends photos from sleep away camp and, even though you miss them, you're so grateful to see them having fun.
Our international mailing is a little bit delayed though. We had to repackage 100 envelopes because even though we were told we had the right size and type - we didn't. You know what's a fun way to spend a Friday night? Rewriting 100 addresses by hand and plopping pieces of pegboard from one envelope to another.
Talk again soon

Two of my favorite science girls in the same picture :D
I so hope I get one
I just got my piece of cardboard! <3 probably the happiest i've been in months! I am an esl teacher, i'm gonna use it in class to teach vocab. <3 and send my students to watch your videos.
congratulations to your visa! yayy!
My piece arrived today!!! Thank you. Gotta pick a suitable frame now.
Just got my piece in Canada :D thank youu !
A #pieceofpegboard just arrived in Germany. 🙌 Will post a picture once I get around to actually doing something with it.
Also: thank you!
Just found this in the depths of my inbox 🙈 Love those knobs, they look really great 😍Oh, and blowing up stuff sounds really fun, looking forward to that video.
I only know the word brass in conjunction with music and had a reason to look up what it is. Hold your breath, the German word for brass is Messing, which in vocabulary terms is a "false friend" a word seemingly easy to translate. It doesn't have the meaning to mess with something, it's simply brass, but there you go, even when you don't want to mess around - you do.
Nice knobs. Say g'day to Kari for me. :) Keep sending those #pieceofpegboard pics people, cool stuff!
I got my peg board piece! Wow! It's like you are a real person who had a real peg board in a real house that exists in California and not just in my little rectangular distraction box! And you really hand wrote all of these??? 🙌 Blessings on your hands and for you, thank you and can't wait to see the Brian exploooode!
Just bring back Mythbusters and replace Jamie with Simone.
OMG - BEST IDEA EVER!!!!!!!
and thanks so much for my #pieceofpegboard :)
Blow up Brian! woo!
OMG!!! You got to play with Kari Byron?!?! She's amazing!! (OK, now, I nearly wrote 'she's da bomb', but that seemed far too on-the-nose!). The peg board photos look cool. I'm still really sad I missed out on a piece. Still, whaddayado... Blowing up brains looks like an amazing way to rid yourself of stress, and, hey, what an awesome way to spend the day!
Thanks for the random update! Sorry to hear about the hassle with the pegboard packing--even when you ask ahead of time to avoid a potential problem, that problem can still manifest. Ugh.
I see the bubble wrap on the floor and I imagine it’s for emergency stress relief.
Great to see you back on your feet. Your story is inspiring.
Great news on the visa! and looking forward to the 'sploding brains vid... the list of things that Kari Byron has not blown up is getting short now. doorknobs look excellent. great idea. now.. maybe get some sleep? ;P
Let's get the bad puns out of the way: You blow our minds.
Looking forward to the new brain(and Brian) busting video. Also congrats on getting your visa :)
Thanks for all the hard work sending stuff out!
now who doesn't like blowing brains up?! Maybe zombies? Anyhoo, stay awesome Simone!
If you often need to write addresses for all the stuff you send, get one of these. I’ve been using mine for years for sending all my cassettes and other stuff. Quick and easy when you’re in a hurry. :) http://www.dymo.com/en-US/labelwriter-450-label-printer
Excited to see your video with Kari! Also still holding out hope for a piece of peg board!
I’m in the same boat. Hopefully I’m in luck!!
Oh man, I was hoping to get one. Did I miss out? 😞
Wow, look at that Brian fly! You have the best fun ever, building stuff AND splosions, WooHoo 😎👑💩🤖
Those knobs do look good. I'm admiring the wall decorations too. You really have an artistic side.
I second the motion that the video is going to be awesome!
I bet that video is going to be awesome! Almost like being in an episode of mythbusters! Gotta say, i'm looking forward to more #notashittyrobot projects. Can't imagine all the cool stuff you'll make in your new workshop. Congrats on the Visa!
Just got my piece in the mail, haven’t actually put it up yet! Thanks again for it! Also, I’m ready to be mindblown by the Kari Byron collab 😁
