Detail Diatribe: The Multiverse Problem
Today Red complains about retcons for an hour and a half! Of course in the grand calculus of the multiverse that's no time at all

I like a lot of this video. Just want to say that Parallel universe Captain Marvel dying in DSMoM happens because Wanda rips the Tesseract power out of her first. You can see her armour being ripped off just before and then all the glowing power comes out of her in an explosion and she dies as a human being crushed by rubble. Makes sense if she can 1v1 Thanos and win. Not saying she should be that powerful, just that it's not a fault of the movie since that's been established.
I know I'm a little late for the party on this one, but I would like to bring up one of my favorite multiverses which is from the podcast, Hello from the magic tavern, which actually uses both types of multiverse that you talked about. The main character Arnie goes to a magical Narnia/ Tolkien esque otherworld, where he meets a wizard and a shape-shifting badger, and the podcast itself is being transmitted by a dude from outer space telling us other dimensions aren't real. And in that story there is a multiverse with other Arnie's going to other magical otherworlds, there's one where an Arnie goes to a wild west world and the wizard is now a cowboy and the talking shapeshifting badger is now a non-shape shifting talking horse, there is one where Arnie is basically Flash Gordon, The Wizard is now a scientist and the badger is now an alien angel dude, It's great. This is just a fun unique way of going about it that I enjoyed and thought I'd mention.
If I may posit another disruption tier: McGuffin Disruption. The bad thing already happened and the fall out helps drive the story. Could say Everything Everywhere All at Once is an example, also a novel Vanishing Point is another.
I'm a little surprised you didn't bring up the original 'Incursion' plotlines from Marvel that Multiverse of Madness got that information from. It completely killed off the Ultimate Universe (but brought over a few good parts into the main MU) and technically destroyed the main one and gave us some really interesting Elseworld-style Battleworlds as part of the plotline to fix things.
Something I'd point out: the way comic fans focus on specific runs by specific writers and say, "This is the one I like"? That's choosing which part of the multiverse they care about. It's a problem in the sense that the artists are unable to take this step, but it's a solution that the audience finds anyways.
This parallels the USB port evolution….
