Trope Talk: Ancient Superweapons
Genuinely one of my favorite tropes! Let's talk about why!

The ancient super weapon, the plot behind at least half the sonic games
Another trope I like is the ancient superweapon being used as religious icons, with the new cilivisation(s) beloeving the ancient super weapons were used to help ascend their builders, with the truth being they are simply big Things that wiped out everything in their radius (the halo rings, as an example)
In CGPGrey's excellent videos on Tolkien Lore he also posits that the One Ring is just lying its shiny metal ass off about what it can do for people. No one but Sauron can actually use the thing to take control because the Ring is part of Sauron and responds only to him. So it tells whoever is holding it whatever they want to hear just to get them to carry it closer to Sauron, but it never delivers. Even its invisibility power is cursed as it makes you extremely visible to the Ringwraiths, who are pretty much guaranteed to be worse than whatever you went invisible to avoid in the first place.
That's a really interesting take on it, I'm going to go check out that video. Thanks :)
One of my favorite versions of the Ancient Superweapon is when it went Horribly Right amd far too effective. Bonus points if there are records and one of the creators pulls a Pokemon and says "We dreamed of creating the world's strongest X... and we succeeded", or something similar.
“Ancient Weapons”-One Piece has entered the chat! In all seriousness, though, Red, I know the series is long, but please give it a try, I promise you’ll love it. At the very least please just watch the first season. You’ll be hooked from there.
w00 Nausiccaa! (Read the manga if you liked the film, LOTS more universe exploration)
