Trope Talk: Fridging!
how many times can Red air her grievances over the questionable writing decisions of the MCU? at least once more, as always

A well analyzed trope.
Hearing Red roast the MCU is always a great time
Ah I just love hearing about how the MCU gets so easily dismantled plot wise at the slightest hint of red’s decision to roast them like a chicken on a stick over a fire
There was one bit of fridging in Burn Notice. Okay there's a couple but one served as part of season 5's inciting incident. First half-dozen episodes of season 5, the protagonist (Michael Westen) is on his way to getting his burn notice lifted and go back to working for the CIA. His contact, Max, seems like a great guy and he has this joking thing now and again where he tries (and always fails) to sneak up on Mike. And then one episode ends with him going to see Max only to suddenly find him bleeding out on the floor of his office with a few bullets in his back and the killer manipulating the situation to frame Mike. EDIT: There was actually another one that feels pretty egregious because it only played into the one episode. Back in season 1, a client was the brother of Mike's best friend growing up and said brother, Andre, is in jail so he never appears in the episode, just explaining how this client already knows Michael. Come season 5 and we find out that Andre was just killed. Mike's broken up about it but he somewhat copes by helping Andre's brother take down his killer. The end of the episode does have Michael and co reminiscing about the nonsense he and Andre pulled when they were kids and that, despite his screw-ups, Andre was a decent guy. But Andre's only ever mentioned in those two episodes, he never appears on-screen, so they got the fridging effect without even having to pay an actor to portray the fridge-ee.
this was awesome!
Maybe there's a market for "Writers: Don't Do This" OSP posters? Or perhaps World Anvil would be interested in buying the rights to some of the illustrations for use within a new advice / guidelines section? The "No! I'm so motivated now" pic would be my favourite.
That is also what I look like when I realise I have run out of milk
[marriage story meme] every day I wake up and learn information about Supernatural against my will
In the first Star Wars, you can clearly see that for Lucas, Screentime == Importance: Uncle Owen dying: ~5 minutes screentime => mildly sad Whole planet blowing up, everyone Leia ever knew: ~30 sec of streentime => minor sadness "Hello There" Kenobi dying, but coming back, ~half a movie => very sad Evil Dark Side Father, murderer of billions, wants to die to be redeemed: ~3 movies => SUPER SADNESS YO, Bring out the funeral pyre, end the trilogy right there.
May I suggest a Trope Talk on Watsonian v. Doylist? It's an important and interesting distinction to make when critiquing media, and a lot of younger people in fandom spaces have never even heard the terms before.
A privates reference and my fav trope to dunk on. A good Friday morning.
