Misc. Myths: Athens
The official founding myth (according to Athens)!

I love the idea of a "State-Sponsored Founding Myth"! Reminds me of the myth behind Thanksgiving!
Every nation has a founding myth. The Celts were so desperate for one that they claimed to be descended from a Moses-adjacent Pharoah. America has a full-bore mythology specific to itself, from big things like how MLK's March on Washington is just a standalone magical event to middle-tier things like the Gold Rush to smaller things like Paul Bunyan or Johnny Appleseed or John Henry, not to mention things like George Washington's cherry tree or Honest Abe and the like. But yeah, our founding myth as a coast-to-coast nation focuses on Plymouth Rock and Jamestown and basically ignores the other eleven founding states. It'd be like only talking about Athens and Sparta and ignoring all the other Greek city-states. :P And that's without getting into the theory that North America is composed of 11 nations ruled by 3 states. Which... has problems, but the basic point is correct. I'm betting people who grew up on the Eastern Seaboard don't mythologize the Gold Rush as much, for instance, whereas it's basically California's founding myth next to Spanish missions.
I love the weirdness that is the city itself, as we understand it, being a myth. Also, always appreciate that quick 'Ghost Love Score' snippet.
so Erechtheus had trouble walking. Meaning Erechtheus, had a dysfunction? .... I'm sorry! I'm sorry! the joke grabbed me by the throat!
Oh that’s good!
So does that mean Theseus was descended from Erechtheus? No wonder he was so cold blooded in his life.
Red, I'm begging you, make your covers available to listen to.
Also another great video, can't wait to buy the pins, but BLEASE
