Reward: Irene Adler (Sherlock Holmes)
(Specifically how she shows up in the books - eg. an elegant actress, singer, and occasionally very convincing crossdresser - not the weird femme fatale version the movies and shows all seem to think is Just So Original)
This was the chibi request from tier-20 patron Farnak!

Thanks so much Red! The photograph is a perfect touch! =D
Really love the kind of 20's style that's going on there!
Not a supervillain, not a trained spy, not a con woman, not working for Moriarty... Sherlock lost to Irene because he didn't think a professional but otherwise ordinary woman could match wits with him.
What boils my onions about Irene is that by messing her up people also ruin Sherlocks more delicate characterisation. Read scandal in bohemia with the result and genre in mind and you realise that Sherlock us playing the part of the villain. He us helping an aristocrat hide his infidelity and extort a blameless woman, and he assumes he is the right! Sherlocks clsssism and chauvinism let him be turned into the villains tool, and never learns! For the rest of his carrier he continues to underestimate female clients and suspects. By making her a master criminal you remove flaws from Sherlock.
