The paperback book of 'Star Wars' - released 2 months before the original movie came out - names 'Emperor Palpatine' as the Emperor. I loved the paperback - in part why I looked forward to the movie coming out in theaters a few weeks later.
I have one small nitpick that in no way subtracts from the greatness of the video. In the original theatrical release of the first movie (yes I was there, I am old) Jabba the Hut does not make an appearance. The sequence was left on the cutting room floor after they couldn't get the effect they wanted. Oh, and, HAN SHOT FIRST.
I am gonna be watching Rogue One after finishing the video. While I really enjoy the last half of this film, I really didn’t enjoy the first and struggled to connect with most of the characters save for K2SO and Chirrut. Sadly I think I just blank on Cassian, which is a shame because I want to like him more. That said, enjoyed Andor, and this will be my first rewatch after watching said series.
Andor is absolutely amazing. The writing, acting and cinematography are incredible, the best that Star Wars has ever had. The only downside is that now everything else feels underwhelming by comparison. People will sometimes complain that there are too many surviving Jedi (even with the old Expanded Universe novels in the '90s), but I don't think it's unreasonable. There were 10,000 Jedi before the Clone Wars, so even if the Jedi Purge were 99% successful, there would be a hundred survivors. What I can agree with is that too many stories these days are about Jedi or need to cram a Jedi in. Andor is the only Star Wars show without a Force Sensitive main character. This is something that I feel like really started with the prequels where the cast of characters was "whoops all Jedi (plus Padme)". Before that, there were lots of Star Wars stories that weren't about Jedi: pilots, scoundrels, soldiers, all kinds of different characters in this universe. There's so much more to the setting than The Force and the creators need to re-learn that not every new story needs to be about lightsaber-swingers.
