How should we go about watching The Originals?

im currently rewatching the originals rn and am excited! and i know it won’t be a couple more episodes until we get there, but i feel like yall won’t even have to worry about scheduling. you could just follow the list that the person commented and still upload 2x a week every monday & friday! (practically watching the same show in the same universe lol).
I think watching them cohesively is the best but also I think tvd season 4x20 “the originals” and the originals pilot episode should be watched together almost as a two parter!
I'm a TVD fan, so I would love a TVD straight through. That said there are a few crossovers where there can be benefits from watching side-by-side. I am going to try really hard to give The Originals a fresh chance watching along with you either way. Thanks for the update and hope you are all fully recovered!

Definitely watch at the same time! Some of the crossover is major. It's not as much as some other cw shows, but there are definitely moments where context is key
It's not AS important as some other crossover shows (like Arrowverse for instance) but I agree with the rest that watching at the same time is better.
I am excited, You guys are going to love The Originals! It starts at season five of TVD. Season five was a really bad season for TVD. I, as well as many other viewers only liked maybe a handful of episodes during that season. TO coming out at that time was a breath of fresh air. This is why it gets my vote for viewing it in order of their release.
I actually liked TVD Season 5 for the most part. Paul Wesley in particular was fun to watch. There were too many different villains and that was unfortunate, but I like any time we get additional back story on either Salvatore brother, and the season finale was excellent. As for TO, I will really try to get into it this time.

They overlap so you should watch both at the same time
it makes the most sense to watch it as it aired tbh bc there is some story overlap and it would confuse you otherwise. But I’m done for however you guys wanna approach it ✌️
That is the way most people do it, that way storyline stays correct. Alot of reactors do that and just alternate between shows. If you don't do it that way, spoilers will happen

Start it like we watched, they way they aired. TVD season 5 starts that's when originals started. Just alternate episodes
You can’t start the originals until like season 4 episode 20 of TVD!!
