From the Library: Rural Tavern
A tavern is rarely just a tavern.
It is where the party hears the rumour that sends them off the road. Where a stranger buys the next round for reasons that are probably not entirely innocent. Where a quiet evening can turn into a bar fight, a hostage situation, or a midnight escape through the kitchen.
Rural Tavern was made for exactly those kinds of sessions.
You can start outside in broad daylight, with merchants arriving through the gate and locals going about their business. Then, when the sun goes down, the same place can become a much more suspicious setting for secret meetings, disappearing travellers, or someone trying very hard not to be recognised.
The pack gives you the tavern itself, several exterior areas, day and night variations, plus cinematic POV scenes for those moments when you want to set the mood before the map hits the table.
A few possible ways to use it:
The party stops for one quiet night on the road. Naturally, nothing stays quiet for long.
A local merchant has vanished, and the only useful lead points to a locked room above the tavern.
The innkeeper is sheltering someone important, and a group of armed strangers arrives after dark.
A celebration in the courtyard turns into a brawl when two rival adventuring companies meet after a very bad day.
The tavern is the last safe stop before the frontier β until the gates are closed and something starts moving beyond the fence.
It is a handy location for roleplay-heavy sessions, investigations, travel scenes, and the kind of chaos that begins with someone saying, βI only asked for a room.β
