[Master Post] The Silent Sentinels Falls - animated battlemaps

The roar of falling water echoes through the canyon as you step onto a crumbling stone path, the mist thick enough to cling to your skin. Towering above you, two colossal statues - ancient sentinels or forgotten kings - stand half-consumed by time, watching in silence as the waterfall crashes between them. A old stone bridge stretches across the chasm, slick with moss and age, while makeshift ladders and a weathered lift hint at those who once dared to traverse this place. One wrong step here means a long, unforgiving fall into the abyss below- and something about these ruins suggests you are not the first to be tested.

This one honestly came out of nowhere.

I originally just wanted to push the new water system in Unreal Engine 5 a bit further (yeah… FluidFlux keeps pulling me back in 😄), and thought: “okay, let’s try a waterfall.”
And somehow… it turned into one of my favorite maps I’ve ever made.

This is one of the bigger ones - but what I love most is the vibe.
It really leans into that ancient, almost mythical atmosphere. Think forgotten elven or human ruins, something that wouldn’t feel out of place in Lord of the Rings.

Massive stone sentinels - maybe ancient guardians, maybe long-forgotten kings - stand watch over a narrow passage carved through the cliffs. A stone bridge runs beneath the waterfall, and you can almost feel that this place used to matter. A lot.

But time did its thing.

The original path is long gone - crumbled, overgrown, unsafe.
So decades ago, someone built a rough lift system: a suspended platform you can ride down, plus a network of stairs and ladders just stable enough to make the descent possible.

And gameplay-wise? Oh yeah - this one gets spicy.

Multiple elevation levels, tight paths, risky positioning…
Slippery rocks, loose stones, and a bridge that drops way too far down if you misstep. This map can absolutely turn into a tactical nightmare (in a good way).

I’m especially proud of the night versions - the moonlight hitting those ancient statues just… hits different. Easily my favorite variant.

A few notes:

  • All maps come in 8K resolution

  • And ... - Local Heroes get the animated version too 🔥

I didn’t manage to finish the Foundry VTT module just yet - the month’s wrapping up and I’m heading out for Easter with family - but it’ll be dropping very soon in the next few days.

As always, you can grab the full map packs directly from the Patreon posts.

Huge thanks to all of you - Patrons and followers alike.
Seriously, none of this would be happening without your support ❤️

Cheers!
