Sorry! Here’s what I’m working on
In 1527, 600 men left Spain to colonize Northern Mexico.
In 1536, the four survivors of that expedition arrived in Northern Mexico.
In that nine-year-span of time, they would go from Florida to Texas on rafts, they would be enslaved, they would be medicine men with 100s of followers, and this is all only the beginning.
The journey of Cabeza de Vaca has not been ignored by historians. In his account, Cabeza describes in-depth the diverse and fascinating native groups living on the northern gulf coast. Beyond that incredible learning opportunity, the story is simply enthralling and without a doubt is the most incredible story I’ve ever read. I look forward to taking you on this journey, from the wondrous cities of the Apalachee to the starved nomads of northern Mexico.
To quote from the Penguin Classics introduction of Cabeza’s account: “His descent to hell is our ascent to meaning.”
I’m sorry I’ve shared so little, it’s a big project and I don’t want to split it up this time. It is thanks to your support that I can do this story justice, and I am forever grateful for that.
I expect the finished product to be out mid-December, and it will be roughly 2 hours in length.
Thanks for your support, I don’t take it lightly, and I hope to demonstrate I deserve it.
