February News & Previews #3

There is still one week left in our Secrets of Tixal Campaign on MyMiniFactory's Frontiers! Not only can you get the all-new narrative campaign for Age of Fantasy and the four new Hero Model STLs, but  you can also get the previous Saurian and Duchies of Vinci models at the best price they've been offered since their launch!

We've also partnered up with Two Thin Coats Paints to create paint sets for the Saurian and Duchies of Vinci factions and Chronicle to provide high quality natural hair brushes to get your armies painted and ready for play!

The Faction Spotlight is where we highlight background lore and design elements behind your favorite OPR models. We’ve put a lot of work into developing the ideas and principles behind our factions which have been reflected in the art and model design, and now we’re eager to start sharing it with you!

The Dwarves are an excellent starting point for these articles, since their background has recently been updated to expand their role in the story of the Sirius Sector.

There are only a few days left to enter the February Painting Contest!

Contest Categories: The contest is split up into categories, each with its own submission criteria, and each contestant may pick only one category:

  • Legendary - Paint this month's legendary model

  • Solo - Paint one single model from this month's release

  • Unit - Paint a unit of 5 small or 3 large models from this month's release.

  • Army (Dwarf Guilds Only) - Send us a picture of your full army. Each army must have at least 30 models from OPR, and must include at least 1 hero model.

Rules: To participate, pick one category and share a high-resolution picture in square format via the Dropbox link below (leave a margin on the sides for re-sizing). Only one picture may be submitted, and you must use your Patreon username as the file name, or the submission will be discarded!

Deadline: February 25th

Do you love OPR minis, but don’t have a 3D printer? Don't worry, we've got you covered!

All of the minis we released last month have been uploaded to our Only-Games Store, where you can buy pre-printed miniatures in high-resolution and durable resin.

At the top of post, you'll see some early previews of the what we are working on for March!

The Vampiric Undead Funeral Coach is a quick and terrifying reminder to enemies of what lies in store for them in battle. The Vampire Lord ridding atop the Coach can also be used separately on foot as another Lord option. For the High Elf Fleets, the Ancient Commander shares his tactical knowledge with his solders, making sure they're always in the right position with Hit & Run. The Snipers are stealthy advanced operatives and expert marksmen, deployed early to pick out important targets. Lastly, the Anti-Gravity APC is a lightning fast troop transport with an impressive arsenal and defensive capabilities to make sure it can get troops where they need to be.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models and not the final versions of the models.

That's it for this week, happy wargaming!

I feel bad for the poor exposed APC driver! Everyone else gets armor panels…he gets his head positioned center mass. 😝

On the plus side, I can see a quite a few interesting paint schemes with nods to different IP's. The helmet reminds me of Predator, but it also has that Robot Legion feel and might take a SW Battle Droid look nicely, it also has a GW high elf look about it which will be fun to paint, but weirdly the only part that make me think of Eldar is the backpack.

Axe elf is a bit of a mixed bag, the only negative for me is his car keys hanging from the wings on the backpack, it's going to be one of those annoying details that either never prints, or always gets snapped off with the supports. (ED has that and I think it was a bad design decision.)

I'm excited for the elves! I think the feathers and charms are a solid choice, if you'd been alive for centuries you'd pick up some trinkets along the way. Looking forward to making a Elf firefight team

Like it a lot. I'm thinking that the "feathers" will be made of metal when I paint them.

I'm quite disappointed with what I am seeing for the High Elf Fleets so far. The quality just isn't there. While I very much respect the departure in style from "other" sources. This isnt something I desire to own despite being a massive space elf fan.

Print them first before judging based on renders.

The Elf tank looks like a certain style of tech from a PS2 game series that I love. It's more angular than I was expecting but it kind of works for me. Not as sure about the helmet feathers but I guess we'll see with more images

I'm hoping for a bare head version

The Elf Fleet stuff is looking really good. Can't wait to see more.

Love it. APC looks great. Maybe first thing I print on the 4th now.

So the Dwarfs are the Sirius Sector version of the tyranids is what I’m reading here.

N
Nathan Gerardy · February 21, 2024

That is also how I read their lore. Cool looking scrappy tech people who...strip the universe of all mineral value leaving only a useless husk. So yeah. Made me a little sad.

G
Gatchaman · February 21, 2024

Oh, I love the elf helmet and the axe! And the coach is phenomenal! I have big plans for that vampire lord on the top!

J
James Callos · February 21, 2024

I don't know; more feathers? Feels too tribal to be advanced.

F
Fernando Lima · February 21, 2024

Well… that Elf vehicle looks odd.. I don’t know but it seems too chunky, bulky for an elven made equipment…

N
Nik Fortuin · February 21, 2024

It’s too tall and short front-to-back is the problem. Could be a rendering perspective thing. I find with these previews the proportions often look terrible, but the printed version look fine.
