Project Roadmap
With the final wave of Saurian Starhost released in December, we're going to finally come to an end of the 3 monthly army releases. This has been a fun ride, but we're happy to go back to our regularly scheduled releases. :)
To give you a better idea of why we're doing this for those that are new, you need to understand that for the past 2 years we used to release ~8 units per month. During the last 6 months however, we've doubled that number to ~16 units per month, which has been extremely taxing for the team, and we can't keep doing that without completely burning out.
That being said, whilst we are going back down to 2 armies per month starting in January, we're still going to increase our output by 25%, releasing ~10 units per month, which is much more realistic for us to do, and it's still a ton of content for just $10, especially with all the other stuff you get (legendary units, terrain, bases, game aids, welcome packs, loyalty rewards, etc.).
Running a Patreon with monthly release deadlines is not easy, and we don't want to make the mistake of overcommitting to how much stuff we release anymore. So in the future, instead of going crazy trying to deliver 3 armies per month, if we have the capacity to produce more than the 2 monthly armies, we will release them via alternative means such as crowdfunding.
We're hoping that in 2023 we can actually start leaning on crowdfunding more to release additional content outside of Patreon, such as small-scale models, additional armies, re-working old armies, or whatever else we dream up. Nothing is set in stone yet of course, but we'll make sure to keep you informed!
Here's a roadmap for the next few months:
January - Ratmen & Blessed Sisters
February - Ratmen & Blessed Sisters, New Welcome Pack
March - Ratmen & Blessed Sisters
That's it for now, happy wargaming!

excited to see more Ratmen, I like the look of the range a lot!
um...this looks amazing...keep up the good work!
Been a happy patron for over a year and what a nice ride it has been. Any chance of seeing OPR do fantasy elves anytime in the near future?
There are no plans for fantasy elves anytime in the near future.
Will the armies developed through crowdfunding eventually be released to patrons as well or will it be a founders only thing?
They would probably only be released via crowdfunding, and then be available for purchase on MMF. Nothing is set in stone yet however, so not sure. :)
The "no profit" poison pill is why I don't promote OPR outside the free rules. It's a real PITA for both consumer and producer, particularly because first-sale doctrine probably makes re-distribution legal, it just hasn't been challenged in court. As it stands, if I give away your models that's legal, then that person can sell them all they want. It's like any other good or service. But because technically we have a "contract" (EULA), I have to fight you in court for the same right of first sale. That's not a healthy business relationship. Meanwhile I can package your rules with Commissar Gamza's miniatures and you get nothing, while I can now release full, ready to play box sets. You can't copyright rules and since I got Stable Diffusion installed, art is no longer a hurdle to release. I have no choice but to reformat and re-edit your rules, with my own fluff and art. Should take me about a week. I would have gifted this work to you, if there was any reason at all to do so. Since our business relationship is one way without negotiation (why I still maintain that EULA's aren't contracts), you don't leave me any way to help you help yourself. If I have to do the work entirely myself to turn a profit with my printer, I'm going to keep all the money. You want to treat me with the modicum respect by acknowledging my first sale rights, without making me fight you in court and/or legally circumvent (through reimplementation) I would just give you a distributed production business model on a silver platter. But respect goes two ways. Nobody can help you help yourself unless you let them.
ma'am this is a wendy's
Question - short of sharing files (which is a big nono and frankly if someone can't afford a tenner a month maybe they in the wrong hobby!) are there any limits on modifying the sculpts for personal use to print at smaller scales? I did some experiments with the Beastmen and had to go in and modify weapons, claws, various bits to avoid them breaking during handling - as they are perfect for their intended scale but evidently printing them smaller requires some modification) Further to this - what is the company stance on selling said PRINTED and PAINTED smaller scale minis commercially? Does printing and painting on commission fall under fair use (unlike sharing files, which is piracy and there's no way to weezle out of that one..) or is a commercial license required? The Etsy stores and Only-Games only provide prints of the original sculps - correct? There's no option to buy "shrunk"? If so - if a heavily modified range is printed and painted (in another scale altogether) would that be deemed a commercial or a "secondary market" product (like buying a box of Oathmark minis 40% off - assembling, priming, painting and basing to onsell?
You can resize to print at smaller scales for personal use, but you can't sell printed and painted minis commercially, because a license would be required (which we don't provide). Our stores only provide models at full scale, but we're working on 6mm-10mm-15mm models already, which will hopefully be out next year. :)
The Sisters look absolutely fantastic. I am a Sororitas player and use them for figuring OPR games but I LOVE these and can't wait to print/paint them.
Excited for the battle sisters. I found you guys because of a YouTube video with a previous version of the battle sisters and thought your teams work was terrific.
Hoping the battle sisters have less masks / helmets and more open faces w/ hair. This will allow more interesting character painting.
Do members have access to the new welcome pack too?
Yes, the welcome packs are available to both new patrons and already subscribed patrons. :)
is the legendary just a drawing?
The model was not ready for renders, so we're just showing off the concept art to get an idea of what's coming. :)
I think the crowdfunding could be an excellent idea if it's to bring other game systems & models (battletech, etc.) into the fold as it's something of a niche that some of the community have asked for. But I don't think it would be a good idea as a means to hasten new models into existing GDF or AOF systems
Can tell I will be a Patron for at lest three more months!
Any news on the new Rulebooks? New AI System for full rules?
We haven't announced any plans for new rulebooks, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. In terms of AI rules, they are already available for free on our website. :)
I do really appreciate the focus on quality. Yall are amazing.
I love everything about the ratmen, especially those grenadiers. Battle Sisters might not be completely my cup of tea but that's perfectly fine.
Probably will be kitbashing off or editing out the crosses but otherwise enjoying the battle sisters. Thinking a post apoc paint job would be good on them...
Love how these are looking! I wasn't excited for the sisters of battle, but the design of those guns are so fun! I can see myself using them for all sorts of different games. As for the model themselves, those sketches all look so dynamic & neat.
Agreed with several above. Love that the female minis are decent minis that are more inclined to what my female associates and friends are looking for! The banner bearer is awesome! Your Patreon has always been a huge value for the mere $10 you charge monthly and if going back to 2 armies, even if it was with 8 units is better for the team (and don't get me wrong I love getting more) I'll be a continuing pledger for certain! Thanks!
So, so excited for Battle Sisters. Finally, FINALLY we'll have access to awesome-looking SoB minis that aren't embarrassing to field due to boob plate, high heels, skimpy outfits, and whatever other nonsense most other sculptors put on their female models. Kudos, they're looking awesome so far, and with just the right level of over-the-top Catholic-esque flair. The guns might need some adjustment to look less cartoonish, but it's an early preview yet and I'm excited to see how you refine them before release! Keep up the great work!
Would be n ice if we could steer clear of the "yay god" vibe and xtian iconography on the battle sisters. I was really looking forward to them but they are going to have crosses and cherubs all over the place I may just pass.
I think the crowdfunding is a good idea for things like small scale models or additional releases for aspects of the game that are not played as much. This frees up the team and still allows for the outliers to have a way of getting the stuff they want without the additional overhead of promising it every month.
Thankyou for listening to feedback
I worry that you’re now saying the Patreon is not sufficient so you want us to pay more through crowdfunding. I think splitting is a bad idea as well as it then means people can miss things much more easily
I agree. The great thing about OPR is that you can find everything in one place. MMF pages could be a bit easier to search / better organized, but it is good knowing you get everything if you remain a Patreon subscriber.
Any chance we can get a little shoulder stock on those rifles? Maybe with the same wing-motif that the magazines have? It would complete the visual symmetry and make the weapons look a bit more practical.
It's unlikely that we'll add one, because it's very problematic when it comes to posing, and is not really our vision for the design.
Just want to say that I appreciate you hearing our concerns on the Sisters designs. I have such high hopes they can get close to those concept sketches. Small changes like the hood changes really helped! Thank you for your hard work. I trust your vision, and I am really excited to see these.
I have to say the Ratmen have really come to be a great looking army. They really turned out great. Nice work!
I love the direction you guys went with the sisters! Can't wait to see how they are when they're finished!
The crowdfunding would have to be very carefully handled as it could look like a money grab. (Ie. you have the manpower to produce models for an additional cost, but won't release them as part of the monthly Patreon release.) I'm sure most people would prefer your intended release model of 2 high quality armies over a 5 month period, than have manpower split between Patreon and a Kickstarter-esqe project. Just my two cents...
I have been so excited for the new Battle Sisters!!!!!!!!!!
That's a lot more Ratmen releases than I expected! Nice!
Really looking forward to the small scale models. Will they use existing rules or is there a new ruleset on the way for them?
There will be a new ruleset for them. :)
No rush on the units! They look great so far.
I wish they had fully enclosed helmets and the Plasma Gun looks a little weird but otherwise the Battle Sisters are looking SPECTACULAR. Might actually print and build a Sororitas army with them and I never thought I'd do that.
We're going to provide a version with fully enclosed helmets. :)
I wish companies would stop using crosses as decoration for "religious" units. It's cool to you maybe, but that's a religious symbol you're repurposing, it's important to some people. GW is doing it too now.
Why does everyone cancel stuff, no one should care about?! Its a typical medieval sign so where is the problem? Its just an item for those minis. There are enough armys without crosses for their "religion".
Your Sister Models may make me finally play them. No rush, Im looking forward to the whole project!
I think it is wise and healthy for a relatively new company to figure out what amount of output is feasible. I'm very happy with what I got for my tier 2 patronage so far and I'm sure that won't change anytime soon. The game is so much fun and essentially brought me back into the hobby with new energy. So I'm grateful and look forward to what lies ahead on this wonderful journey!
Sounds great! Take your time! Quality over quantity is always better :) thanks for all your hard work! Keep up the great work! Very excited about the future of this patreon!! :)) Ps everything looks amazing so far!!
As grateful as I’m sure we all are of your speed of releases, I personally am in no rush. Use your time as needed and certainly don’t burnout, this Patreon always exceeds most others so maybe focus on quality of life over quantity of ‘product’. Slower releases could be an opportunity to community test the new units instead of upheaving the meta in one broad stroke. Just my 2cents
I love you guys!!!!!
Love the look of the Fanatics!
fanatic thighs save lives
Where do I go to get my large items from 3 months of subscription? Or are they added to my download list forever?
They will be sent to you at the end of the month. :)
The battle sister acronym is unfortunate . Now I only seem them as bu****it army , aaaaaaaaaaah ! Keep up the good work , we love you OPR team , you are blood !
Those fanatic sketches look cool as all hell. Totally willing to wait a little extra for these cool lookin' Sisters!
