August News & Previews #3

Today we’re releasing Demo Mode! A new option when building army lists in Army Forge, our free list building app, to simplify the unit rules to make the game easier to learn and teach. Demo Mode is especially useful for short demos like you might try out at a convention or in a game store. We hope this new mode will be a boon when teaching the game to new players or for new players learning the game together for the first time.

When you turn on Demo Mode when building an army list, all non-core rules are removed from the army, such as their unique special rules, their army-wide abilities, rarer abilities, and any ability that doesn’t appear in the core rules of the game.

With two more armies joining our physical line, lets take a peak at how they'll be packaged and a look at our first unit: The Eternal Dynasty Warriors.

At the top of post, you'll see some early previews of the what we are working on for September!

The Ratmen Clans Weapon Experts are the perfect unit to choose when you have a special problem to solve and need a mobile and violent option to solve it! This three rat infantry squad can be equipped with a Christmas List of Heavy Weapons to ensure that whatever target you need eliminated on the battlefield is going to have a very bad day. When combined with Relentless and Scurry, they can quickly get exactly where you'll need them and you'll be in for plenty of pleasant surprises when the dice start rolling.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models and not the final versions of the models.

That's it for now, happy wargaming!

Is this the Raptor thats in the list for Ratmen Clans? That blade on the front is amazingly chaotic!

Not quite! You'll be seeing those soon.

Hey, I don't know if someone already talked about it, but I found that the "Shadow Leagues v3.5.3" army info PDF shown on Army Forge and in the preview has different values than the one you get when you click download. The Shadow Leader is a good example — in Army Forge/Preview the Energy Weapon costs +10, but in the downloaded PDF it costs +5. It's not just that one item either — I found at least 8 other upgrades on that same unit's page with mismatched costs between the two (League Master, Shadow Bringer, Phantom Mesmer, Shadow Psychic, Fusion-Mod, Toxin Weapon, Beast Companion, Squid-Jetbike), so it looks like the whole page export is out of sync rather than a single typo.

Thanks for the information.

Always happy to see more rats!

I love the Ratmen Clans and their designs, but like other comments have pointed out, I feel that the Heavy Flamer and Heavy Machine Gun need a sturdier backpack that really shows what they are—like the Flamer with gas tanks on its back.

This is a great note! Specificity of design and strong, identifiable shapes are always a good thing!

love 90% of the weapons team, just wish the backpack for the Flamers was bigger, currently so small it just doesn't look like the fuel tank for a flamethrower.

Oh this rats look tough!!

New to the game, but I wonder how tough 3 will work here? is each rat tough 3 or is the squad of 3 together count as tough 3?

Each rat will have 3 HP.

I like Demo mode, as that will be great for Rangers and new players. TBH I'm getting a little bothered seeing similar options in every army list. The Ratmen Weapons Expert is basically the same as the HDF Sappers, the HEF Vanquishers....etc. I don't think the same unit should exist in all armies.

I mean tbf the biggest thing that seperates the factions isn't the units it's the faction rule and the options on the units. Most factions have a 10 man 5/5 infantry unit, most factions have a 5 man 4/4 veteran unit, most have artillery, swarms that are similar etc. but rats, hdf and hef definitely play differently despite the unit similarities.

I think demo mode removing faction rules instead of giving units 1 or 2 preset loadouts and consolidating abilities that are similar (such as rending and destructive) is a mistake.

Opr never rests! Curious about the weapons team fantasy rats had some of the coolest models. Always paired together, I hope the scifi version will also have the possibility to link them up. The mini roller is cool, but to be honest I was hoping for a bolder more aggressive design. This one looks a bit like a toy, which could be an idea to lean in, if it's an autonomous machine, it could lean in the beast like design.

Stealth preview for Great Death Wheel?

I think it's the regular roller that is part of the weapons team. And I do hope the great roller will have a bigger saw blade !

Is there any update for when 3.6 will be releasing for GFF? I'm really looking forward to trying the new rules out

Let them cook a bit longer, trust me on that...
