September News & Previews #4

We're thrilled to announce that Grimdark Future: Broken Truth, our first all-plastic 2-player box set, is now available to order on Gamefound! This massive box is the perfect starting point to get started playing Grimdark Future. Take command of the Saurian Starhost and the Robot Legions with 77 highly detailed pre-assembled plastic models across two large ready-to-play armies.

Of course as part of the campaign we'll be providing regular updates to keep backers and fans in the loop on goals, any social media that features Broken Truth, and provide a glimpse into some of the back end development of our first physical boxed set.

MiniWargaming are back with another battle report, this time going head to head with the contents of the Broken Truth box. This report is a great showcase to new players who might have never played OPR games before as it goes into more detail into deployment and the cadence of a game round.

At the top of post, you'll see some early previews of the what we are working on for September!

Using the 3.5 the Doom Cart is an optional war gear that gets added to the Dwarf Champion. It's main function is to add some casting prowess to the champion while also providing it some safety with additional toughness. It can be taken on it's own with any other upgrades for a bit of caster ability, but of course the model is paired with a Rune Lord whose already a decent caster, and paired with the Doom Cart puts it in a higher echelon of spell slinger.

The Goblin Reclaimers Commandos are the sneakier cousins of the shooter mobs, using the same profile and base gun, but with the addition of Scout and Strider. They can be given a few upgrades to make them more accurate. For shooting they'd get Good Shot, while Instinctive can also give them advantage to hit, but limits player choice in who they can attack for that bonus. With both of those though and some great positioning, they can really put the hit and hurt on an enemy unit. For weapon upgrades they can be given pistols and melee weapons for a combat focused unit, or shotguns which shorten their range, but give them twice as many shots.

Please remember that these are early WIP shots of the models and not the final versions of the models. The rules are previews from the 3.5 beta and are subject to change as well.

That's it for now, happy wargaming!

2 goblin notes: they are really smiley, just doesn't feel like they belong on the battle field with that smile. Extra poses would be great as this is a horde type army. Otherwise, love them. Will be printing and painting as soon as possible.

Or..... they could dial the smile all the way up to 11, like Pathfinder/Starfinder goblins. But as they are, I agree with you, they just look happy, but not *too* happy.

Can someone help me fix my account, I haven’t gotten files since July. I updated my email here to match mmf. Do I need to end and resubscribe?

I don't really like goblins. Their faces are too happy. They remind me of Dobby. I don't like that. In some previous previews, I noticed something: do they have tails? I find that a little strange, to be honest.

These designs for the Goblin Reclaimers are my favorite!

The ammo mag sticking out in front is odd, it's just not how someone would hold a gun. if you were holding a gun like that you wouldn't be able to fire it and if it had just been fired you'd burn your hand.

You don't recall the German made MP-28 from WW2? Its a classic, check it out!

The goblins grow on me with each viewing. They have a lot of character, and I can see a full tribe of them being perfect for a battle on a jungle/forest table. They have just enough tech to avoid standing out and almost have a steampunk or retro-tech vibe. I would love to see a battle between these and the Jackles—sort of a goblins vs knolls D&D battle vibe.

The more I see leaves on the goblins, the more I think it works. On the other hand, the dwarf cart looks more like a mining cart than a doom cart...

I only just saw the Gobbos, but if anything bad happens to them I will kill everyone in this sector and then myself.
