We have been thrilled with the positive response that our free 2D Paper Miniatures have received, but we understand that not everyone has access to a 2D printer to print them. To solve this problem we've produced all new free 3D Printable 2D Miniatures that you can print on the resin 3D printers you already have at home!
These new 2D miniatures have many of the same benefits that the paper miniatures have:
Due to their thin size, you can print whole armies quickly!
Easily store hundreds of 2D miniatures in a small container!
Customize the miniatures with colour markers or paint!
Each mini has detailed front and back textures!
And best of all, they're free to everyone!
With the release of these miniatures we continue our goal of making our games as accessible and easy to play as possible.

I keep coming back to these miniatures. Such an inspiring design. Really hope there will be more coming. Would love to field a whole "flat" army.

okay so i know it's supposed to be an april fools thing, but i would lowkey buy a few set of each of opr's armies in this style specifically for travel skirmishes and battles

Agree, saw them , thought "neat April fools" and half a second later "but they're damn cute and I want them"

I still want that kart racing game from last April.

I think the joke might have backfired. Those are really good. Reminds me of wargaming flats.

like more people above said, would love to 3D print the 2D models. this way we can collect them like collectable cards in a binder :). Or print them at 500% as cookies.

I did a banana split on one and printed it in FDM, and it looks great.

That's awesome. I think it's the best April Fools so far!

Akihisa Futjimoto · April 2, 2024
I was pretty sure it's a joke, but to be honest for figurines that need to be transported a lot and with the option to put the foot on and off. These could become a hit. Easy to print, trancport, maybe even easy to paint and with a loke in system for the foot this is promising. 🤔😄😉
J
Jekk · April 2, 2024
I know it's a joke but can you make these anyway I want some
M
Modred · April 2, 2024
Hahaha you got me! I wondered if you used AI to extract depth maps to do this… the longer I stared at the pics the more I startet to like it, just had trouble with understanding how will these stand, where are the bases lol 😀
T
The Creepy Game Master · April 3, 2024
some of them had bases when I printed them!
C
Crolynx · April 2, 2024
Can I get these for all the factions? They would make great stuff for use in D&D on the fantasy side and in my Rogue Trader/Deathwatch games on the grimdark side!
J
John Lacy · April 2, 2024
Unironically, we need cookie cutters to make these guys :3

This has got to be one of those April Fool’s Day jokes that become a reality, clearly everyone loves this idea!!

Here's a hint, just scale the appropriate axis in your slicer. I do this with mechs.
N

Haha this is such a fun and dumb idea! *Proceeds to download all of the models for printing anyways*

Doc Seibel · April 2, 2024
Like so many others, I think that this is realistically awesome beyond just being an April Fool's joke. I've got the whole batch on my printer as I'm typing this.

I would love these!! I'm guessing someone flattened the regular 3D STL files -- could we get instructions on how to do this ourselves if it isn't too complicated?
t
toadyody · April 2, 2024
Looks to me like they rendered the mini as a height map, then applied it to a plane, extruded, mirrored, then trimmed. You'd need to use blender or equivalent software. The technique is used Fairly often in environment art for rocks and plants etc. Pretty fun to apply it to make a standee miniature.

Kevin O'Rourke · April 1, 2024
The thing is I keep looking at the Lizardmen and think hey those would be great to decorate terrain walls as part of buildings like carvings.
E
Eli Haun · April 1, 2024
Not gonna lie, this is awesome. you can paint them without having issues with getting into hard to reach places like on the back side of a cape or waist, and you could possibly fill up a resin plate with minimal supports. I would actually love this to be a regular thing
J
Jon Shields · April 1, 2024
I know it's an April fools joke, but if I'm honest, I would quite like some of these!
S
Stephan Schany · April 1, 2024
Classic flat tin miniature style!

Marc-Andre Levesque · April 1, 2024
This is actually a completely missed April fools! This is a great idea seriously! You can print a whole army in an hour! :) Now do the rest lol For real!

I legitimately want these.
M
Matthew Jones · April 1, 2024
Yeah, I know this is a joke, but I would use them! I am a teacher with a D&D club at my school. I want to use my models but kids are careless so I have thought of using paper models but the kids aren’t as excited. This would be great for mobs.
R
Ross Blaszczyk · April 1, 2024
I want to add that these are actually awesome.
j
johann barrios · April 1, 2024
I know it is mean to be a joke, but just WOW, this idea is amazing, I print my minis at a resin printer, but something like this can be easily printable at a FDM printer, and also it is a cheap way to practice painting minis, I would love to have those available for real
N
Nathan Gerardy · April 1, 2024
The depth of these minis...is just minimal.
N
Nathan Gerardy · April 1, 2024

Split front and back and fdm printers should print these out fine.
J
Jordan Hawthorne · April 1, 2024
These would actually be really robust for play and great for kids and new painters who can be put off by the perceived complexity or fragility of "real" models. It's harder to learn or create from a place of fear. I think they will paint up well and are a lot of fun.
J
Jordan Hawthorne · April 1, 2024
Ok, that's rad. I know this is a "Ha Ha" thing but you have no idea how much I would like some printable Traditional Toy Soldier look semi round "flats" for the 7 years war. Prince August does moulds but I am not keen on playing with molten metal when printer can go Brrrrrrr.
R
Ross Felder · April 1, 2024
Truly incredible. I didn't think we could top the kart racer.
M
MagiusDel · April 1, 2024
I know this is supposed to be a stupid April Fool's joke - but if you embossed the 2d paper figures onto these, you'd get a LOT more texture on the paper models, and you'd have something that looks good but is more durable than the miniatures on their own tend to be. In my opinion, this is a genuinely interesting idea that fills a niche I hadn't realized needed filling in the tabletop market!
G
Genesee Miniatures · April 2, 2024
You can use matter control or blender to import a PNG and apply it to a shape, it makes really cool 'meeple' style minis.

They used to make flat toy soldiers like this in the 1920s and 30s. My dad is an avid toy soldier collector and has repainted quite a large amount of recasts of these old figures. I'm going to have to print some for him!
