Update 1/19
Hey guys!
So I'm popping in to let you know that I've gotten down about 2322 lines of code/writing done for the next update. Plot-wise I'm maybe mid-way through Saturday morning. I won't lie, I wanted to be a lot farther along by this point but a number of things have kinda slowed me down.
I think the main thing has been overstimulation and some of the overwhelm that's come along with the release and feedback I'd gotten from it so far. Both good and bad, I've found myself reading and re-reading what people have to say about the game and I've had to tell myself to step away from it and just focus on creating the game that I'd always wished existed. It's hard as fuck though and not something I'm used to, so any pointers in dealing with that would be greatly appreciated. I also am in the throes of a shitty mood this past week, so I'm sure none of that is being helped by it. I've been drinking my weight in hot chocolate and trying to practice self-care to get into a better mental state though.
That being said, I am happy that I'd gotten over the initial hump of writing for the Saturday AM bit, mainly cause (as I'm sure plenty of you know by now) there is a shit ton of things that could have happened the night prior. I did plan for this convergence point in my plot and many others in the future to account for the wild variance that can happen, but it doesn't make the time to write and reconcile those points any quicker. But, it's done and I'm happily moving forward with the plot as planned before.
I've also been seeing some of talk around a walkthrough or guide of some sort to help folks who feel they may have missed something in the game or just want to make sure they are aware of all routes. I'll say this: A walkthrough, if there is going to be one, should be made before the next release is out since the plot (while vast) is at least manageable now, future updates will only make it less easy to write lol. I can't dedicate the time to make one now. I can, however post a quick list of things that can happen in the latest release and some steps to get to them, it just won't be super exhaustive. Be on the lookout for that in a patron-only post :)
If a walkthrough is something a lot of people feel strongly about, I'd be happy to chat with some of you and figure out the best way to go about it collectively (Cause I need to focus on the next release and not new projects right now. lol)
Also, a very kind fan of the game gave me a list of questions to answer, and I thought it would be fun to share some of my answers over the next few posts. If you have a Q you'd like me to answer, please send them my way and I'll include them in a post :)
Would you be friends or even romantic partners with one of the College Craze characters if they were real?
I’d probably be friends with Demi, April and Bernie. April is a sweetheart and she’s similar to someone I know IRL. Bernie’s also based off a handful of bartenders I used to work with over the years, and they were always the best friends to have, lol. Demi is most like me now, and I feel like for the time of my life I’m currently in, she’d be the most stable and easiest to relate to.
Romantically? Jay (he’s everyones favorite lol) He’s not the most safe choice for obvious reasons, but theres a sense of respect and a care for the MC that a lot of the other guys haven’t quite achieved yet. My other pick would be a toss up between Shaun and Jace, lol. Shaun has his flaws, but outside of Sugardale I think he’d be a good partner. Jace is a tad on the immature side, but I think once he got over that he’d be pretty fun to hang around as well.
Who would I just fool around with? Gabe, and Grady for sure, lol. They’d be terrible romantic partners in my opinion, but I think they’d be a lot of fun in bed haha.
So I pass this question on to you:
Who would you choose to be your friends with in CC, and who would choose as your partners?
xoxo,
PrettyInk

I chose Thomas because he reminds a lot of a friend I have in real life! They’re always hard on others, pretty judgmental at times, and a bit of a square but they have a good heart! They’re environment made them prickly. It just took awhile for my “Thomas” to open up to me and for us to finally see eye to eye on some things. Idk what you have in store for Thomas, but he just looks like he needs a friend lol I’m not surprised about Jay lol! From what I seen so far you wrote him really well! Btw, I love that you gave him those pretty brown eyes!
Forgot to respond to this, lol sorry. I get what you mean, I've known a few Thomas-like characters in my life too. But like you said, once they open up they're actually pretty cool. You're absolutely right, Thomas needs a friend for sure. And of course, we need pretty brown eyes to get lost in <3
Hi Pretty Ink! I wanted to say that I love your game, and I think it’s amazing so far! I’ll have to agree with everyone else here that I don’t think you should make a walkthrough for the game, I feel like that’s unnecessary work for you. The most important thing is your mental and physical state above all else! Personally, I really like the direction you’ve taken with the story, and while critique is good you still want to keep your original idea, if that makes sense? I 109.2% simp for Jay😤 I already love him, he’s def a romance I would want or Demi I simp for her as well! I think friends from CC would be: Ruby, April, and Thomas
Hey Nairobi! Thank you so much :) I hear everyone loud and clear, lol. No walkthrough, but a scene guide that's short and quick for me to whip up is certainly in the stars :). I totally get what you mean, the sentiment seems to resonate well with me, and I think I just need to stay true to my vision. Lol, at this rate we're gonna have to have a battle Royale for Jay's hand in marriage. I'm surprised by the Thomas for a friend, what made you choose him?
A scene guide would be helpful not sure about the need for a walkthrough just yet.
To touch on what ime said, not only is it not possible to please everyone, but you shouldn't be trying to do so either, as all that will accomplish is watering down your vision for what you want to create in order to cater to the lowest common denominator. It's better, both for you creatively, and for the overall success of the game, to focus on pleasing those you want to please and those you want to make the game for while more or less ignoring those you don't. It's better to have 1,000 passionate fans than 10,000 lukewarm observers who are only mildly interested and unlikely to support you.
You're absolutely right. The last thing I want to do is water down or throw away my personal vision in favor of pleasing a crowd of lukewarm observers. I really do appreciate those who connect with the game and pick up on what Im trying to do, so keeping that group of people in mind while creating should be top of mind :D
I don't think you doing a walkthrough is a good idea. If anything, I think a fan or group of fans could compile it instead as many do on Steam or GameFAQs. It's just gonna sap you of time and willingness to focus on the more pressing matters. As for partners, Jay all day LOL I agree about Jace as well. He's super immature, but I think he'd actually be down pretty bad and good bf to someone he really got to know. Ruby would definitely be the bestie reminding me that life isn't all about the books. I hope we can actually go clubbing with her once in the future! As for feedback on the game -- try not to internalize it and remember that it's about the content and it is not personal -- even though it feels like it because art is so personal to us. Understand that people will sometimes come at your work sideways, but at the end of the day, you're making CC for yourself and for others who are looking for the unique experience you're providing. Push through and believe in you!
Agreed! I think a full walkthrough just isn't worth my time when I've got so much else to do. Theres plenty for a group of people to parse through already though, so I'm sure itll crop up in one way or another haha. And I'm not surprised, about you and Jay! Happy to see another Jace fan though, I think he's underrated and people take him at face value but I feel like if I knew a guy like him IRL, he'd be open to change. (Lol, "I can change him, I swear!") Stay tuned for Ruby clubbing adventures coming soon ;) Thanks for your kind words! You're totally right, its not a reflection on me as a person, but just on something I've made.
I understand what you mean about feedback impacts to the creative process. For me personally, I think the biggest helper was realizing that it isn't possible to please everyone. It is important to be careful with what can be triggering content but other than that write what makes you happiest and remains true to your vision. Feedback that enhances or supplement is always helpful and ultimately it shouldn't redirect but illuminate other possibilities that the story and characters can take.
I think that's a great way to think about it. Because even with the great feedback, theres a weird pressure to achieve peoples standards and I'm afraid I'll let people down. I gotta stick to my guns and my vision for sure. ^^
Yeah, I don't think a full walkthrough would be a good idea. It would be hard to keep updated and take away time from actually making the game. That's why I suggested a much looser just listing of available routes/relationship options/sex scenes/however you want to define it. It doesn't even need to be that detailed. So long as we know what the routes are and what path they're on, we should be able to collectively figure out how to get there if we missed one. For example, knowing that yes, there is actually a route to get with the guy at the bar, would tell us that we're not wasting our time trying to find the right combination of choices to get that outcome.
Yep! I actually started just taking the notes down in a document for release this weekend. So it won't be a full walkthrough, just a loose guide on what sex scenes are available, and blurb on the way to get there. I dont wanna have to keep doing that over time, but I think with this as a foundation others could take over in documenting it if they feel like it haha.
Friend wise id prob go with like Ruby and April/ Ruby seems like a really fun person to just hang out with haha and April is a sweetheart as you said. Partner wise, id prob go with either Demi or Jay (everyone really does love him lmao) id lean more towards Demi as of rn cos she seems so nice and caring compared to alot of the other people you can have sex with in the game lol
Yeah, I know Ruby is definitely a fan fave, I think she's definitely the fun friend to hang with. Glad to see some love for Demi! I think she's one of the harder ones to get a scene with, so people haven't been fully exposed to her yet, but nice picks!
I would definitely date Jay 🥺🥺
He just needs someone to love 😍
