C
Chris Jackson · January 5, 2025

It tells u in the first 2 mins of movie Chris dies lol so good though

T
Tiffany Payne · January 1, 2026

But Chris' death in the paper, was only maybe 2 sentences- foreshadowing Chris' home life or lack of thereof

This is an amazing coming of age film. Funny but also deep and touching. Please please PLEASE consider watching "My Girl" (1991). Very similar vibe, a coming of age film from a young girl's perspective instead. It's funny, deep, emotional, set in a similar era and very well done. An iconic film that I think you and especially Hannah would enjoy! Also an unbelievable cast!! Please look into it and give it a watch! 🙏🏻 Sending love from the USA ❤️

I’m going back to watch this again and I really want you and Hannah to watch Now and Then. It’s about friendship and growing up and it’s so good.

Z
Zack · February 3, 2024

I think everyone would agree if you love this movie you will really like SANDLOT. It's got a lot of the same vibes going for it. Kids bonding and overcoming an obstacle. Ash would be able to relate to the obstacle in the movie! Hahaha!

Stephen King published a collection of four short stories called "Different Seasons" in 1982. Three of the four have been made into movies. The ones on this channel are "The Shawshank Redemption" (story title: Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) and "Stand By Me" (story title: The Body) When you see a "Castlerock Entertainment" splash screen at the beginning of movies just know that it is a company that was started by the director, Rob Reiner, about a year before this movie came out. They named the company after the town that the boys come from, Castlerock, Oregon. It's a fictious town that King made up, but they did film the movie in Oregon. I love this movie. My family had just moved to Oregon in 1987 and when it came out when I was slightly younger than the boys. I was able to watch it when I was a few years older than they were. Even at that young age it resonated with me on a deep level. BTW, I joined this Patreon channel because of this movie. Keep up the good work!

They also had a show on hulu called castlerock centered around some of Kings characters. The first season was the best.

I signed up to your Patreon because this is my absolute Favourite Movie. This s h a p e d me as a teenager. River Phoenix... I can't even begin to tell you the heart ache I feel about his untimely demise, and I wasn't even born when he died. The movies he made, "The Mosquito Coast" with Harrison Ford, "Running on Empty" with Judd Hirsch and his, at the time, girlfriend Martha Plimpton, "My own private Idaho" with his (best?) friend Keanu Reeves... He played young Indy! As in Indiana Jones!!! I haven't watched the video yet, but because I've followed you guys for years, I feel so calm and excited about seeing you guys react to this movie for the first time. The way you analyze and react to things are so lovely and exciting, I'm never disappointed nor am I ever afraid you'll react in the "wrong" way, because you're always so kind, and human and clever about what you watch. Thank you for sharing and taking the time to do these reactions!

Rest in Peace River Phoenix. 🥺💕

Eddie Perkins · January 28, 2024

When it comes to storytelling, no one is as good as Stephen King. This movie never gets old.

B
BillieAnn Munday · January 28, 2024

I dont know anymore what causes me to cry through most of this movie after watching it so many times. Is it still the story telling or just knowing River Pheonix is no longer with us and the sadness he faced in his own life. The leach scene is traumatic. I grew up on 1000 acre farm with two older brothers. Murky waters everywhere and leaches definitely do not pull off that easy!

please continue hunger games <3

I recommend 1993 The Good Son with Macaulay Culkin and Elijah Woods Horror Mystery

Adin Monks · January 27, 2024

Sometimes i imagine the heights River phoenix could have reached if he didn’t die so young..Very sad at least his brother is keeping the name alive..

B

Couldn't see a reflection in your glasses! Might just need to call out the logos again

M
MrTickleTrunk · January 27, 2024

This movie always reminds me of a friend i lost when I was 13. His aunt crashed the car killing herself, him and his younger brother. I'm in my 40s now and when i get to the part about Chris being stabbed - *I STILL* think about where they'd be now if they were alive.Friendships at that age *ARE* unique.

T
Tamara Wilson · January 26, 2024

You guys NEED to watch Gifted(2017) with Chris Evans. So wholesome, it'll get you crying again 😂💜

R
Rafael · January 26, 2024

I remember grabbing the VHS off the shelf when I was, I don't know eight, mom wouldn't let me watch it for some reason.. lol but thank you for the nostalgia. Gotta put Crimson Tide if your a Denzel fan.

R

In the book Vern dies in a fire at a house party and Teddy dies in a drunk driving accident.

Z
ZoeLo · January 27, 2024

I guess I won’t need to read the book now.

J
Jay · January 26, 2024

Great reaction. Btw will we ever see a reaction to The Dark Knight Rises? I’m anticipating that one

J
John Liebling · January 26, 2024

I think a great back-to-back watch would be "The Deer Hunter" with De Niro and Christopher Walken and after that "Pennies From Heaven" Those two films couldn't be more different from one another. Both showing great acting talent and emotional range.

B
ButtercupsTrueLove · January 27, 2024

When I think of De Niro and his range of choices in film projects, "Cape Fear" (1991) and "Awakenings" (1990, opposite Robin Williams).

J
John Liebling · January 26, 2024

There is another film called "Parenthood" not your usual Ash and Hannah fair. There is a crazy surprise. Wonder if you can figure out who one of the actors is. You've got a super young Keanu Reves. But that's not the shocking surprise. You'll just have to watch it and see for yourself. Your subscribers and patrons know what I am referring to. So, no spoilers from me. As good as you are at noticing symbolism, and what the actors are doing, I don't think you're going to spot that actor, before the credits roll. It's that difficult a get. I could be wrong. But I think it will too much of a leap. Once you do spot the actor by looking at the credits, it's going to deserve plenty of "Oh my days!"

Z
ZoeLo · January 27, 2024

Isn’t he listed under a different name in the credits?

J
John Liebling · January 26, 2024

The kid you thought was a great actor was 16-year-old River Phoenix. The actor you call amazing in the Joker, that his younger brother Joaquin. "Stand By Me" came out in 1986 seven years later in 1993 River was dead of an overdose from Cocaine and heroin binge. His 12-year-old brother was there at the time. Joaquin is now 49 his older brother River died when he was only 23. Of the two River was always considered to be the better actor, though he never got the chance at life, and we know Joaquin turned into a superb actor. He credits Robert De Niro as one of his favorites the move he felt showed him what acting could be, "Raging Bull" It's a film, Ash - I think most of your Patrons would agree, be one you and Hannah should react to. I also feel, "Pennies From Heaven" would be an interesting watch as well.

S
Sharpgirl · January 26, 2024

My personal opinion, I truly believe Leonardo DiCaprio got his career boost then. He was offered roles meant for River. They had such a similar look.

B
Blade · January 26, 2024

I have "Yeah, but so what? Everybody’s weird." Tattooed on my arm because of this movie.

S
Sharpgirl · January 26, 2024

Awesome tattoo. My favorite response when people say "You're weird" is ... "You say that like I don't already know it".
