Loved watching this with you two. If you haven’t, go to the song during the closing credits. Annie Lennox co-wrote it with the films’ composer and one of the screenwriters. It’s called “Into the West” and won Best Song at the Oscar’s the year Return of the King won 11 total.

Frodo essentially went to LOTR heaven, called Valinor, its a place of eternal peace and joy. All ended well, fear not, because eventually, Sam, merry, pip and the rest went there too.
Frodo left Middle-Earth to be in Valinor, where he might find peace. The trauma and ring-sickness was causing his depression. So happy you two enjoyed, much love from NM!

The 'Making of' is incredible. Even if you don't film it, I highly recommend watching it.
Return of the King won 11 Oscars, tying for the record along with Titanic. But the trilogy won 19 Oscars. It was the first and only fantasy movie to win Best Picture.
You love Sam as much as we all do, so I thought I'd share that in the books when Sam has the Ring, he just wants to turn the world into the most impressive garden, then thinks, no that's stupid :D

If it makes you feel better, late in life Sam sailed to the Grey Havens to be with Frodo again after Rosie passed away, Gimli and Legolas also went. Pippen and Merry were buried in Gondor with Aragon.

frodos wounds could not heal in the mortal world and because he was a ring bearer and sacrificed all for the world he was allowed to take the ship in the undying lands to heal and be at peace at last
