One more story about this movie and it is not an urban legend because Stallone confirmed it. Drago’s wife in this movie is actress Brigitte Nielsen. She not particularly talented so she used her looks to seduce an entice successful men throughout her life. I believe she’s on her fifth husband. She was briefly married to Stallone and she went after him with a plan. She wanted to meet him so she had a full length poster made of herself in the nude. Through some connection she got Stallone’s fax number. She cut up her poster into a bunch of 8 1/2 x 11, typical paper size pages, and faxed it to him. As he tells the story, he kept laying those pictures on the floor, putting them together like a puzzle piece until it was done. And when it was done, he wanted to meet her.. True story.

In 1980 to 83 I was going to law school in New York City. My law school was on fifth Avenue and 12th St. I was walking up fifth Avenue after class one day not paying attention because I was thinking about my schoolwork. Next thing you know, I walked right into somebody walking in the opposite direction. I recoiled back and I looked straight ahead expecting to look somebody in the eye. But all I saw was a belt buckle on somebody’s waist. I’m about 5 foot 7 1/2 so do the math. I kept looking up and up and up like a pan shot in a movie and the next thing you know, I realize that I had just walked into Dolph Lundgren, a.k.a. Ivan Drago. He was the biggest human being I have ever seen in my life. I didn’t even think that I was the same species as him. If you think he’s chiseled and imposing in Rocky four, you should see him in person. I apologized and went on my way.

How do you skip Rocky Balboa? That’s the most unhinged take in this whole comment thread. Every bit of context for who Rocky is in Creed including a major plot point in that movie comes from Rocky Balboa JFC

Ash thats crazy to say. One of Adrian's best speeches is in Rocky V. It IS a good movie, its just different. And then watching Rocky Balboa is imperative. Good movie. Then get to Creed.

dont listen to people telling you to skip the next 2 rockys they are great and needed to understand the story going forward plus rocky 5 has one of the best scenes out of all the movies with the flash back in the gym and the last rocky is outstanding up there with the 1st rocky with the emotion and has some of the best inspirational speeches out of any movies made
Yeah, I like Rocky V a lot. They're a lot of heart, but so much boxing.
please dont skip any rocky movies their all fucking good, you might like some better but their all good and have something special that bring something to the franchise

Skipping the next two and losing all context going into Creedl is ridiculous. There are no bad movies in this franchise, even though there are some obviously better than others. Nothing should be skipped and anybody that’s OK with skipping the major storylines in the next two movies and jumping into the Creed trilogy with none of it has lost the plot

Please watch Rocky V. It's the weakest in my opinion of all the Rocky movies, but it will clear the path to get to the movie Rocky Balboa, which is a great and fitting end to the Rocky series, and it segways to the Creed movies.
Its the weakest but still good. And I LOVE the Adrian talk, my favorite of her yelling. Its the deepest, most beartfelt.

A few years ago, I was at a hotel in Washington, D.C., eating a sandwich in the restaurant late at night when Carl Weathers walked up to my table and asked how it was. He ordered the same sandwich, then from across the room yelled, “I’m gonna believe you—you better not let me down!” He ended up paying for my meal. When I went over to thank him, he asked if I wanted a photo. I told him, “Honestly, this whole interaction means more than a photo. I tell him my dad’s a huge fan, Without missing a beat, he tells me to pull out my phone and call dad. He FaceTimed my dad and talked to him for a solid 10 minutes. What an amazing human being.

This was a big'un fer me growin' up in the nuclear anxiety of the 80s. Especially with movies like The Day After and TV shows like World War III. Is it the best of the Rocky films? No. Of course not. But it still holds a special place in my movie heart.
Just waiting on the Creed movies at this point
