For a newer tragic love story, I'd highly recommend A Star Is Born: amazing movie with a banging soundtrack!
I love this. I did a paper on it in school and Jack’s death is meant to be interpreted in different ways. Ennis visions that’s what happened but the directors left it open to interpretation. Ennis thought he left his shirt but Jack kept it inside his jacket. And Monroe is the grocery store guy that saw what she went through with Ennis’s work and the girls. You guys should definitely visit the US, Wyoming is beautiful. Anyway, love the reaction as always and love you both!
Just joined for this reaction. I got to see this for its 20th anniversary re-release in theaters, it wasnt my first time watching it, but I was still SOBBING it was just so beautiful on the big screen.
I have been waiting for this, because it was such an amazing love story. As a gay, this movie was such a huge moment for the gay community along with all the accolades it received. There are so many married men and women who love the thrill of being the side person both gay and straight. We are still on a lot of hit list it is just there are more of us that are outspoken and fight back now. I grew up in a small town in Louisiana where you just don't say anything or be yourself. So I totally get the lies and all the behind-the-back shenanigans. Like having a girlfriend but fucking one my cousin's boyfriend. But we all have our secrets. Thank you for being able to see what the story was really about. And it did take you on a ride of ups and downs for sure.

Wow! I never watched this film, was told it was bad, but not at all. Loved it! Great film. You guys should watch 13 lives on prime. It's such a good drama based on a true story. even if you don't watch it on Patreon, just watch it on your own time because it's so good.

Also, about how they dropped Jack’s death on us unexpectedly… I definitely understand where you guys are coming from, I do… But I also think it was a pretty masterful way of having the audience find out in the same way that Ennis did… A sudden and utter shock, with no preamble.

There are so many nuances to this film, which were quite artfully done. One of the things that always breaks my heart was how when Ennis finds the shirts in Jack’s closet, Jack’s shirt is on the outside of the one Ennis was wearing. And when we see it again at the end, Ennis’ shirt is on the outside. Talk about symbolism!
Jack’s death is dropped suddenly on the audience just like it was dropped on Ennius. I think it’s intentional so we have that same shock and heartbreak. The movie is heart wrenching and beautiful. ❤️🩹

This movie was so important in it's realness. As a gay man, growing up in America before it was accepted was incredibly lonely and harmful to the psyche of gay people. Most felt that had to be with women or else they would be found out and shunned or worse. This is relatable in all aspects. I don't know if you noticed, but Jack's jacket was wrapped around Ennis' shirt that he thought he left on the mountain. At the very end of the movie, Ennis has his shirt wrapped around Jack's jacket. Talk about symbolism!!!
It touches on something that so many take for granted and don’t even think about. Not villainizing anyone but it’s real…like for examples…. Have you ever had to pretend to have a different sexual preference just so you wouldn’t get beaten up at school? Have you ever had to play the part of a ‘real man’ so that you could get a job? The way people think of you as ‘less of a man’ because you have sex with men. The discrimination and rocks thrown at you while you walk to your car after dinner, holding the hand of your partner? Being afraid to ever show affection in public cuz people you’ve never met hate you so much they wish they could actually kill you? It’s a lot and it really fucks you up, ya know? So it means a lot when people you look up to (like Ash and Hannah) don’t cringe at something you are and can’t control. It’s while I’ll always support them. I don’t have a circle of friends that believe in and encourage me…but seeing Ash and Hannah? It …. Saves you in a way…ya know? Like, when you find out the super hot, popular jock guy in school…is bi lol But for real. Im with you. It means a lot and just makes Ash and Hannah an even safer space. And that’s been really hard to find lately. *thank you for coming to my TedTalk* lol
This movie is so good and Heath Ledger KILLED it as a herder from Wyoming. 👏🏻 👏🏻. Remembering Matthew Shepard was 💀 in Wyoming brutally in ‘98 this movie really hits hard, (even though Jack passed in Texas not Wyoming). Society can be so cruel. *the stuff Jack’s dad was spitting out was snuff tobacco.
