Case 319: Theresa Feury
In Paterson, New Jersey during the early 1980s, Marie Moore was seen as the neighbourhood’s ‘cool mum’. The 35-year-old allowed her 12-year-old daughter Tammy to have friends over as often as she liked, and would even take the pre-teen and her friends out on fun excursions. But the tide turned one day when Marie made a shocking revelation, and suddenly the home that had been a safe haven for local kids became a house of horrors…

Grew up in NYC and never heard of this case. Absolute insanity. Good to know she died in prison.
The only word I can suitably sum up this episode is insane 🤯
This is one of the weirdest cases I’ve heard!! It’s so bizarre that i can’t believe someone who isn’t mentally ill would do this.. I wonder if Marie had abused “Helen” in California previously, the way she spoke about Helen to Mary is just like how she spoke about Ricky.
Marie Moore, you are one evil, diabolical bitch. Her mugshot is a jump-scare.
Another really well researched and written case Casefile team! RIP Theresa what a heartbreaking story. I am anti death penalty but I swear cases like this make me question that belief.
Imagine being Billy Joel and you're sitting down with a glass of wine to listen to your favorite Murder Podcast, and this starts playing.
I also wonder what happened with the landlord. Did he get charged for abuse as well?
I'd like to give the Casefile team praise for the way they phrased the abuse of Ricky in particular. When they spoke about how Marie began to abuse him, they said specifically following that he was subjected to sexual abuse. A lot of times, particularly if it's a boy being abused by a woman, I hear people default to "sexual relationship" and it was such a small line but it made a big impact. It would be really easy to see Ricky as an equal partner in the abuse of others but reminding us he was a child being abused as well was really important.
Completely agree, was thinking the same as I was listening. Just a horribly evil person and for what reason?
At no point in this episode did I know what was going to happen next. What an insane case. Great job casefile
Do we know if any charges were laid against the male neighbour who paid Marie to sexually abuse Theresa? So many abhorrent people in this story.
I wish people would just like, not. You know?
Yikes that was a depravedly strange one.
I lost count of the number of times I said WTF... and that was only the first 15-20 minutes
I feel like there’s an inappropriate “Only the Good Die Young” joke in here…
Who knew Billy Joel was so evil?!
I think we all had some inkling...
“The following episode includes crimes against children…” damn not again 😔
Great episode! Absolutely bonkers! Crazy that she used her skills from being an operator to have the phone ring. Of course kids would believe her!
... wtf is this story. I don't recall another episode ever leaving me quite so speechless.
Casefile is so good at making me shout “WTF?!?!” over and over again
I can’t believe that Billy Joel would do such horrible things. I’m never listening to his music again.
What a monster is all I can say
Imagine being 15, just experiencing an innocent high school crush, and your girlfriend's mom plays elaborate mind games with you, threatens your family, forces you to beat all your friends, kidnaps you, grooms you, sexually assaults you, and then tries to frame you for murder and have you killed. She just absolutely destroyed this boy, and had no intention of stopping, just moving on to another boy when she'd used this one up. Awful. Awful.
Also shout-out to Jorge, the only adult in this story who wasn't immediately like "you were kidnapped and forcibly injected with a drug that lets you telepathically channel the mind and voice of a pop star who's also in the mafia and also overly concerned with our household chores? Sounds legit!"
Anyone else pausing to write down who is who to follow along? My wall is gonna look like that meme with all the paper on the wall connected with red string
You kids need anything? Snacks? A condom?
Oh god, we're only 11 minutes into an 85 minute episode and we're already at bizarre group abuse, this is going to be so hard to get through but i will try 😭
