FC26: FIFA 16 Remastered v2 — Update Is Now Available!

Unfortunately, Career Mode saves started on v1 will no longer work after updating to v2.

This is a one-time situation with FIFA 16 Remastered updates — going forward, we will maintain compatibility with your saves and progress. In this particular case, starting a new Career Mode is necessary because the v2 update modifies thousands of database entries.

To get the most stable experience possible without serious bugs, you will need to start a new Career Mode after updating to v2. After that, you can continue playing normally.

What's changed in v2:

1. Fixed the European competitions issue in the first season, where the knockout stage could sometimes fail to start. Instead, we decided to completely remove European competitions from the first season. They will now begin from the second season and continue every season until the end of your Career Mode save. From the second season onward, qualification slots will be determined by league positions and domestic cup winners.

2. Fixed team tactics and formations in Career Mode.

3. One user reported that Toni Kroos and Marcelo disappeared after reloading a Career Mode save. This was an isolated case and may have been related to enabled additional content. However, we investigated the issue and removed all players who were still active footballers in 2015 from the Icons table. This was the only potential connection we found that could have caused the issue.

4. Roles have been fixed for 12,881 players, including goalkeepers. Their roles should now correctly match their positions.

5. Kylian Mbappé has been added. Yes, he was in FIFA 16, but our squads are based on September 2015 data, while Mbappé appeared later, which is why he wasn't included in v1. We've now added him with the appropriate attributes and roles, as well as a realistic young face. For those who didn't know, Mbappé was at Monaco at the time.

6. Player wages have been fixed across the entire database. When signing a player, the game should now suggest a normal salary instead of $500.

7. Club title information at the start of Career Mode is now accurate as of 2015. For example, Real Madrid now have 10 Champions League titles instead of the 15 that were displayed in v1.

8. Various other fixes have been made to the game's internal code. Names and surnames of youth players generated through scouting have not been changed, as modifying them can break the game. FIFA 16 had a much smaller selection of countries where scouts could be sent, while FC26 includes almost every country in the world. Because of this, there is no reliable way to properly standardize the names. They will therefore remain the same as in v1.
