I think I might finally know the problem with the "SAVE" function...

On my larger games, specifically Welcome to Puttsdale and House on Cherry Bluff, some people have told me that after a certain point the SAVE button no longer works. I could never find out why that was or replicate it in my own game, but I think I may have got it now.

Every time you save one of these Twine HTML games, the browser saves not only all of the variables/passages you've been to BUT ALSO all of the things you used "undo" for. After a while, the save file just gets too big, and the cache won't accept it. Then, if you play the game again (even starting a new file!) it still thinks the save file is too big.

I'm looking into how to fix this. The version of Harlowe I'm using unfortunately won't do the "(forget-undos:)" macro, but maybe there is a work-around...

Either way, I'm almost done with the main "game" portion of Week 6: since you're stuck inside, it's a lot of dialogue options with your roommates. I've made it all the way to Fiona's! Still hoping to have something to bugtest by the end of May :)

Yeah that has been an issue when replaying House on Cherry Bluff, and for Welcome to Puttsdale due to how big the game is, it eventually stops being able to save after a certain point. The only real solution currently is to delete browser data and make sure not to save too much on the next playthrough.

Glad you figured that out. Honestly I kinda gave up on 'Welcome to putsdale' because of how long it takes to get through a lot of stuff. The save function was always a little wonky. That's why I loved the smaller bits you posted as standalone little teasers like the ice cream contest or the school uniform quest.
