WU - World Largest Nerf Rival!
Hi everyone! Late weekly update here. Next video will hopefully be up the 28th and all this photos above show how much progress I've made on the project.
The (self proclaimed) world largest nerf rival will be a (kind of) gatling gun with an interior rotating drum. The front of the gun will be a serpentine that will act as a magazine and will end on the rotating drum. The ball launching system will be the same as the last ball cannon I made and I'll be using the vacuum at the input of the EDF to bring the balls from the magazine into the drum. A brushless motor with a large GT2 belt will spin the drum and we'll hopefully get a pretty decent "round per second" speed.
It'll have a side panel with switches to arm and select the firing modes with leds for the different variables and battery level and will be fired using a combination of two buttons, one to start the EDF and another one to start the spinning drum.
It took quite a while to design this one and with all the parts combined it'll amount to approximately 20 days of printing, it seems that I don't know how to do small things, I hope you don't mind.
I hope you like this kind of update, please let me know because I could do these more often when there are no videos in sight.
Your thoughts and questions down below will be very much appreciated, thanks everyone!!!

I'm liking the inbetween projects, I hope your're making a printed holster you can wear and then hang on the empty walls of your workshop!
I think it would drag on the floor if I make a holster for it 😂
Hi mate, that's looking really good. I have no issue with big projects, and the sneak peeks you provide us are awesome. Keep up the great / crazy work. Cheers, JAYTEE
Thanks mate!
I keep seeing you make stuff bigger and bigger, which is great. What large format 3d printer do you use for the larger stuff? I was thinking about getting a Creality CR-10 s5, so that I too could make bigger models. Thoughts on what works best? Until then, I guess I could try to get better in Fusion at making things joint together and print smaller segments. I notice that you don't use many elaborate joints, and tend to go with M5 bolts... The nerf gun looks great. I'm going back to your Fusion post about the hovercraft now, and going to see if I can model something based on that which could fit on a Prusa...
With the time I realised that doing big projects on smaller chunks (CR10 sized) allows for small improvements without reprinting everything and printer failures have less impact on the project schedule. Another factor is print time, as many of my models have features that require some precision large parts take ages to print so it is quicker to divide and conquer. Thanks!
i only have one thing to say: WOW............
🤭
Definitely agree that quick updates like this make for a good gap filler between videos. Would love to see some pics of the next phase of the tank ;)
I'll try to do these more often then. I have the tank in pieces in the floor right now, still a few parts left to print t o have something to show. I'll try to post an image of the "puzzle" around here. Thanks!
haha "...it seems that I don't know how to do small things" Love it! Go big or go home. Your projects are always awesome, especially for those of us that don't have the time or means to make the larger things, we can experience it vicariously.
Then I'll keep making things! Yeah!!
This looks amazing!!! I'm already imagining how incredible it is going to be. Keep the good work
I myself can't wait!
Any style updates are fine, we see that something cool is coming, and get a peek at the subject, that is great!
Yesss! Thanks!
