I joined to see this reaction in full. Worth it. Fine Line is my favorite track. The placement of the songs is intentional. The album begins with the idea of a crush, infatuation, and sexual chemistry. During a Capital FM intrview Harry said, "For me, Lights Up is about freedom, self-reflection, self-discovery, I guess. A couple of things I've thought about and wrestled with over the last couple of years. The song is about me just kind of accepting those things." Lights Up, imo, acts as a bridge between the first three songs on the album, with Cherry, Falling, and To Be So Lonely sharing the pain of love lost, jealousy, and heartbreak. She, imo, is another bridge. Harry could be speaking of his more feminine side, a desire to escape his reality, or a past love that still lives in his mind. Sunflower Vol 6, Canyon Moon, and Treat People With Kindness are songs about finding joy in everyday life, even when it's difficult. Breaking down the lyrics to many of his songs... they are sad and heartbreaking. Harry writes lyrics about sadness/pain set to upbeat music, and we all dance, cheer, and smile. During an interview with Zane Lowe, Harry spoke about As It Was (Harry's House): "It's very much devastating, and it was written that way. The voice note is 'a death march'. (speaking of performing it) A bunch of people dancing to your most devastating experience." Fine Line...the closing track...is a culmination of everything Harry has shared on HS2...and it builds slowly, beautifully, with power through repetition, instruments, and Harry's voice. He sings of joy/despair, love/hate, hope that was had and lost. It's a fine line to balance the ups and downs in a relationship. Harry concludes, "We'll be alright."...and then the listener has 8 to 10 seconds of nothing but air, space, silence. A perfect album. I'm 54 and have listened to music daily since I was a toddler. Six older siblings sharing their taste in music gave me a bit of most genres. I listened to HS for the first time in 2020. I had no idea who he was or that he had been in a band before his solo career. Sweet Creature was my first HS song. His voice...the lyrics...perfect. I bought vinyls of HS1 and Fine Line...and never looked back. If you made it to the end of this...your tea is probably cold. :)

oh my god, as She started playing I said to myself 'This really is the most Beatles fucking song Harry's ever done' and then Kevin said 'This gives me Beatles vibes'! Vindicated! For me it's the storytelling lyrics but also the weird trippy echo effect on Harry's vocals (can't think of specifics but I know the Beatles used that kind of vocal reverb effect, and Paul in his solo career), the very stripped back instrumentation that also manages to feel a bit filthy and rock n roll, the almost lethargic/drunk tempo and pacing of it.. it makes me think of Happiness Is a Warm Gun and I Want You (She's So Heavy)! My favourite all time track of his might be Fine Line - it's absolutely stunning and brings a tear to my eye. A lot of people say his debut album is strongest or point to Harry's House, but I think this album is so peak, so sonically versatile, feels reminiscent of music legends from decades past but still fresh and new. Ugh!

yes i love this album, it’s hard to pick but it’s probably my favourite of his, that first three track run is generational imo i would love to see a 1D reaction too, i would say doing midnight memories -> four -> made in the am would be a good progression since midnight memories is where they started writing music so it’s cool to see the progression!
