Dad Reacts to my bloody valentine - Loveless

I feel if Kevin heard more shoegaze/dream pop and then returned to this he'd have a deeper appreciation for the album as a whole.
Love you guys - I'll listen for the music but also a model of family that I always wanted to believe in while watching some cycling videos is my go to for a day that felt like too much. Peace&Love
please react to glixens stuff!!
Also Once Twice Melody or Bloom by Beach House would be awesome !
Would love to hear Souvlaki by Slowdive :) my fave shoegaze album
The absolute truth for this album is, if you don't have a system to match the near 2 years they spent on just MIXING this album prior to release (that's right), it will simply outresolve whatever you are listening on, and you'll miss 90% of the content. For some reason, the digital file used here (or your mixer, or both) totally scalped your top & bottom end on most all of the tracks, and it lost all the breathy goodness of the vocals, the deep growl of the bass and the crisp clack of the snares. As Connor rightly perceived, everything that makes the songs attractive, had been instantly removed. In simpler terms (for anyone): get it on vinyl, turn it up to 11, and make sure your system is worth more than your grandma's age. 🌿
Hello guys, i loved this reaction im a big fan of this album, I recommend you guys listen to Bocanada by Gustavo Cerati, he was an Argentinian musician principally known for lead singer of Soda Stereo, they were one the best spanish rock bands of all time, but after they split up Cerati went on a solo run and he dropped several albums one them being Bocanada which is his second, for me this album is a masterpiece, I read rolling stone actually placed this album as the 2nd best spanish rock album of all time, i think its the best, this album has a lot of experimental sounds but it never gets to crazy for any new listener, I think both of you guys would absolutely love this album since Cerati has a great voice and the sounds... well I can't really put it into words but is "Beautiful"
YESSSS YES BOCANADA Gustavo Cerati is an absolute legend. Seriously the most innovative and talented artist to ever come out the spanish rock era!
PLEASE DO BLOOM BY BEACH HOUSE
I've been desperate to hear anything by Beach House for the longest time! Essential listening.
This reaction reminds me of when I saw Marty Supreme a couple weeks ago. I saw it with a friend, loved the shit out of it, and then brought my dad to see it a week later. But this time, the movie was playing in a really shitty auditorium where the projector bulb was really dim, but more importantly the sound system sounded like a tin can. It straight up ruined the movie, and I told my Dad after that I felt like he hadn't really experienced the movie. The sound (especially the music) is so important in that movie and he didn't even notice the score was mostly synth, because the sound was terrible. I even went by myself to another theatre to see it a third time to confirm that the movie still holds up, and it does.
please do mezzanine!!!
I'd love to see Sweet Trip's Velocity Design Comfort, i feel like that would be way up Kevin's alley!!!!
yes!!!!!!! such a great record
continuing with the 90s albums y’all should do American Football first album or Spiderland by Slint
Second American football 1
Sometimes is my fav song, soon is a close second
You guys must do souvlaki on some geared up headphones, it’s as good if not better than loveless
Assume Form By James Blake pleaseeee!!!! 🙏🙏🙏
Anything by James would be fireeeee
The glow part 2!!!!!!!!
omggg you gotta show your dad the album Tinderbox by Siouxsie and the Banshees or also Nothing to Fear by Oingo Boingo haha!!
So sick to see this. I’ve been super busy and can’t wait to see this. Glad you got access to it somehow considering it isn’t on any streaming platforms.
Souvlaki - Slowdive Next!
‘Breathe!’- Leven kali Would be fun to toss into some singles 💃🏾
Kinda agree with other comments that by nature it’s not the strongest reaction album as much as it holds a place in my heart. Like it sends beautiful chills through my body but I don’t have that much to say about it haha I hope we go from here to one of the lyrical bombs in the backlog like Sun Kil Moon or FJM to keep Kevin’s whistle wet, enjoying the variety in recent weeks
Sun kil moon would be a phenomenal reaction
This is one of those albums that people collect different mixes of. Seems like everybody has their favorite master/mix of this album that they swear ny. Very interesting phenomenon
Swear by*
You guys are on an generational run but it‘s time for some experimental edm: Day 10 of asking for Hi This Is Flume 😎
I have a long road with this album - I'm not all the way there, but I definitely appreciate its charms a lot more than when I first heard it. For me Sometimes was my way in. It captured the gentle longing of the film Lost in Translation - its weightless quality moved me right away in the film and made me want more from the band.
all this is telling me is that slowdive souvlaki is next? i think keving would lile that album a whole lot more than this
If you guys do another re-listen video I would LOVE if you did Viva la Vida. Such an incredible album that gets overshadowed because of how much the Single got overplayed
Or rush of blood or parachutes
the day you guys do beach house is the day my life is truly complete
I think Kevin just doesn't like Shoegaze because it is meant to sound drowned and messy. The vocals are meant to be hard to hear and in the background.
also its just not really an album review type of album. It's meant to just flow through the tracks like a soundscape rather than pausing and reviewing each one. After a while you just fall into the groove and stop worrying about the mixing.
I remember the first time I heard this album: sophomore year of college and very much in love with a girl. I’ve been looking forward to this review
this has been literally years in the making
You guys really are on a generational run!! If you want another classic 90s album I would absolutely LOVE you to do Portishead's "Dummy" or "Mezzanine" by Massive Attack
id kill for them to react to dummy 💙
Also yeah, the recent (2021) analog cut reissue of this album is unbelievable. One of the best sounding records in my collection hands-down, totally elevates the experience
I feel like I’m hearing it with less bass too
There’s something about being familiar with the “chaos” of this album that allows you to really sit in it once you get familiar. I’m the same way where it took me a while but When You Sleep kept me coming back. Once I began appreciating the song Loomer was when I realized this album was perfect… idk if I’m alone in that
Love this album! Picked it up on vinyl just last year, it took me a while to get into Loveless but after a few listens it clicked with me, one of my favourite 90s albums of all time.
Suggestion y’all gotta do: Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor. Amazing album!
i actually screamed when i saw this notification
i really hope kevin listens to this with his own headphones later!! this album really is so so good and it sucks the audio isnt coming through as it should :(
Oh god Kevin's never heard this? What a treat to hear those guitars for the first time, this record changed my brain chemistry.
Beach House next?
YOURE COOKING TOO HARD, TURN THE STOVE OFF‼️
slowdive would be rad
Second this!
Oh mein gott wtf 🙊
This record has still never been topped
Yoooooo, I miss this album on streaming so much rn
WHAAAATTTTTTT!!!!
Omfg finally
YALL ARE ON A GENERATIONAL RUN BRO
one of my all time favorites right here, hell yeah
Hell yea the classic run continues
The noise I made seeing this pop up was a disgrace
how lucky kevin is to hear these amazing albums for the first time! generational run indeed
I’m around Kevin’s age and this album is one I’ve never been able to listen to all the way through because of the crazy loud mix so I’m excited to hear it through your ears.
Tthese last few videos have been INSANE, When You Sleep is a certified classic
holy
GENERATIONAL RUN
PEAK
You guys are pulling some HEAT
the generational run continues holyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I seriously have never clicked faster. Stone-cold classic, foundational 🩷
