Dad Reacts to Elliot Smith - Either/Or

Greatest human being to ever live, I love this man so much, I’m so glad you guys reacted to the beautiful man know as Elliott Smith. It’s been awhile since this reaction, I can’t wait for the next reaction, I’m super hyped, love y’all

Came to Patreon for your Elliot video. Saw you’ve covered Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine?! I appreciate the variety of genres you are highlighting on your platform. Let’s see The Cure and Joy Division! Your videos are a delight. Thank you!

Got into Elliot Smith because Mac Miller covered one of his songs

Kev - your Mum is cool as shit. I hope I get to meet her. <3

One thing I’ll say about Speed Trials is that the vocals and guitar were recorded in a living room with Elliott’s partner at the time sleeping in the other room. Explains why it sounds the way it does, it’s one of my favorites though tbh.

Please please Check out Rilo Kiley's More Adventuours album! Super underated band,. This album has 2 tribute songs to Elliot.

Can’t wait for yall to listen to XO. Elliott is amazing! There’s also his band Heatmiser, they put out 3 albums, very loud but also great. A lot of artists have been influenced by him, all the boygenius girls are big fans of him. Can’t wait!

I have listened to the cds of these records a lot from back in the day and I feel like either / or sounds a bit difffent than I remember.... Just putting it out there. The other things you play sounds correct.

A few of the songs on this record was as you said used in Good Will hunting and also gave Elliott an Oscar nomination and suddenly tons of fame. Pictures of me is about that I think. Sad sad stuff. He was not equipped to deal with that!

For maybe 20 years I always though it was about him singing to a person that is hiding behind bars and trying to help them out of depression. Such a beautiful song no matter what.

Elliott is one of the few that is up there near Radiohead for me. I remember very well when he died. So unbelievably sad.

But Elliott also plays in a way that it sounds like he plays several guitars at once. Brilliant.

being honest i saw the either/or post i HAD to join patreon

We should get some Tyler Childers up in this bih

waited years for this🙏🏻

Elliott is the soundtrack to all my cold rainy fall days. I feel like he’s an old friend.

Your dad said “speed trials” sounds like some of his bands songs!??!?? umm we’d love to hear that sir??

How bout them redwings

best day ever

They gotta do the new kid laroi album

day 5 of requesting Ghostholding by venturing (jane remover slacker rock project) i’m begging you pleasee

Great video as always. More classics that I think would be fun to see you guys react to: George Harrison - All Things Must Pass Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream The Strokes - Is This It Television - Marquee Moon

the outfits are amazing as always. does conner remember where he got the pants?

Punch and Judy isn’t allowed any more because it was just a show about punch beating the shit out of his wife 🤣 was perfectly normal show for us kids in the 80s. Mental.

This is so lovely for me. Elliott has been my favourite artist since I was a teenager. But I’ve never had anyone to share it with, really. Not in depth. Cheers boys.

Elliott’s band, Heatmiser, are worth a listen. They put out some of his most beautiful songs.

Yayyyyyy, I don’t know if I am the one you were referring to who mentioned doing Elliott smith in the nick drake video. But I AM SO HAPPY. you gotta do his whole discography!!! CANT WAIT FOR XO!!!

I only paid for patreon to watch this video. Do more videos of his albums and my life is yours

Such an amazing and touching album <3 Thank you guys i was feeling a bit off tonight but this made my day

Hi Guys, please do Erika de Casier latest album lifetime. Think you will both love it!

hi guys, i don’t know if you’ll see this comment but may you PRETTY PLEASE react to fete de la vanille EP by lucy bedroque. it’s a short EP but i promise you guys will not regret it.

Omg neither of you know Television 🤯 art punk instant classic upon first listen for me, I think you two would have an amazing time with that one

If you’re digging this style atm YOU HAVE TO listen to PINKY I LOVE YOU by Jacob slater (Wunderhorse frontman) it’s intricate impossible fingerpicking, alternate tunings, whispering vocals and the great lyrical writing from wunderhorse transfers over. Happy listening love Elliot smith! (One of his influences you’ll definitely HEAR)

I cannot tell you how quickly I opened this app when I saw you post about this on youtube. One of my favorite albums of all time and some of my favorite guitar playing. Learning Angeles right now and am struggling but having lots of fun

Unrelated but new Snail Mail coming out soon, perfect time to react to Valentine 😁

Thanks so much for listening to this one!

For sure do marquee moon, that one is great! Was watching some old arctic monkeys reactions and you guys should do The Last Shadow Puppets first album, The Age of the Understatement. It’s incredibly unique and full of bangers. Loved the reaction!

I have a feeling that Isaiah Rashad is getting a reaction next.... At least I can dream.

I think Figure 8 will be one of Kevin’s favourites OAT when he hears it

you guys should check out elliott's band heatmiser if you liked the heavier stuff on here :)

Are you fucking serious. Is this classics week or something? If not, you should do something like this every january

Day 5 of asking for Hi This Is Flume 😅

yall should react to adrianne lenker she’s also such a good lyricist 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

100% should do Marquee Moon by Television for a classic review. One of the greatest guitar albums I've heard

i love it when i realize new TTT is online , guys i swear i wont forget u when im on Top !

a huge part of this record is that im pretty sure Elliott was super limited during the recording process. He had limited tracks to work with and the majority of the tracks were recorded in a pretty diy way but were mixed in a nice studio environment. I think Elliott always had the sonic aspirations of XO and Figure 8 in mind but never had the resources to bring that vision to life. With that in mind I think its pretty remarkable what he was able to do on this record

I listened to Jeff Buckley for this first time and then you guys did a video. Then I listened to Pink Moon and you guys did a video and then finally I just listened to either/or for the first time yesterday.

LFGGG

this is huge for weird people!

FINALLY, so pumped!

omg.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable saying this on any other channel, but I feel safe here saying that I jizzed a little when I got a notification for this!

not to be that guy. but im gonna be that guy. its elliott with two ts

You guys need to listen to Television! Marquee Moon is perfect and has fucking great guitar work all throughout!

we need d’angelo- the black messiah!!!!!!!

YES!! I think Kevin would love Figure 8

Became a Patreon for Pink Moon, and so glad to stay for Either/Or.

Day 2 of asking for the BPM- Sudan archives

You guys should do M83 - Hurry up, we’re dreaming, good one to do outside at night. Also gotta do Daniel Caesar - never enough for sure.

i’ve been waiting years for this i think kevin said you guys were planning on doing this album like two winters ago
