Can’t wait for you to take him on the journey that is age of adz
As someone from Illinois I loved this album and review 😁
Ironically enough there is a canton IL lol
Talk about Al Stewart, the drop in the intro to Year of the Cat where the music finally comes forward, just 🤩 Tickles the brain every time! Probably my favorite music moment ever
If y’all happen to listen to Michigan eventually I urge y‘all to listen to the Deluxe Version! Some of my favorite Songs are bonus tracks and they’re amazing!
As someone who lives in the Chicago 'burbs, where's the representation for our wonderful record-setting Chicago White Sox?
Please check out Rilo Kiley's More Adventurous if you like the cute indie vibes and lyrics. Gonna keep spamming till it happens!
Adore adore adore this album! The Tallest Man, The Broadest Shoulders is one of my favourite sounding songs of all!
This was gorgeous. I think you guys would really enjoy something from Big Thief or Adrianne Lenkers solo stuff, her album Songs is a masterpiece
Deep cut sufjan album: “Enjoy Your Rabbit” …. Very good!! Crazy one
you gotta do the racing mount pleasant self titled soon. incredible album, kevin would love it
love this album so much.. belle and sebastian soon? love them in the winter
The fact he wrote, arranged and damn-near played all the instrumentation in addition to all the research involved in writing the lyrics makes this album one of the most impressive things I've ever had the pleasure to take in.
do michigan PLEASE that album means so much to me. thanks guys happy new year <3
All things go, all things go. 🥲😭
Haven’t heard all the way through yet, so not sure if they learn this by the end, but this album was in fact adapted into a Broadway play a few years ago. It’s all on Spotify, amazing renditions of the songs. The play version of Predatory Wasp actually tops the album version for me
I saw it live! It was so special. As soon as the first note started I was weeping🥲
I'm sure I'm not the only one to say this, but the S in Illinois is silent. The name of the album "Come on feel the Illinoise" is a reference to how people will often mispronounce the name of the state. 🥰
I absolutely love this album and Michigan so much. I'm ecstatic to see you covering it! Hopeful that Michigan will make its way into the show someday.
Incredible album. It would be so cool to see you react to Don't tell the dog by James Marriott :)
Sufjan technically is on Hood Politics because of a very prominent sample from one of his songs All for Myself, from The Age of Adz. From an NPR interview this year during the rollout of Carrie & Lowell 10 year anniversary record, Sufjan says he has recovered where he can walk, run and jump(yay)! He’s been focusing his music more on the production side, like producing John Legend’s Children’s music album last year and producing and featuring on songs for his friends music like Mina Tindle, Denison Witmer, and Hannah Cohen.
working through the holidays,i want a new job
Can you please react to Beyoncé one of her albums that you haven’t done, she has so much more albums that are really intresting. I would love that! Also love how both of you do this so well :)
I second that ♥️ 4 or self titled or her debut. Black is king would be fun too!
it's interesting that during predatory wasp, you discussed how personal his lyrics feel to sufjan himself, and that they can be interpreted so many different ways. while i fully agree with you, that song specifically hit me like a brick the first time i heard it as line after line i could relate to his exact experiences. they were experiences id never thought i would hear in folk music and soon enough, i credited that song to my own coming out journey later that same year, and it also happened to be the same year i moved to chicago. so for me, this album is incredibly personal and relatable despite it's historical origin. so glad you finally listened, i subscribed just to watch this!!!
heck yeah feel that ill noise
wonderful choice :) I see either/or on the shelf still... hope that means it's coming soon!
BTW SUFJAN PLAYS OVER 20 INSTRUMENTS ON THIS ALBUM (STILL NOT SCREAMING, JUST EXCITED)
TOP 3 ALBUM OF ALL TIME ALERT LET'S GOOOOOOOOO YES WE NEED THE AGE OF ADZ AS WELL - BTW I'M NOT SCREAMING, I'M JUST VERY EXCITED THANK YOU
day 2 of asking for Ghostholding by venturing (jane remover’s rock oriented side project)
2nd this, personal favorite of last year
idk, i’d go for “Age of Adz” in the 3…i’d lean more towards “Seven Swans”
OMFG I waited literal YEARS for this. I’m so fucking hyped!
Illinois did have a Broadway revue/musical in 2023
You guys mentioned this should be on Broadway, and it actually was last year I think.
Cum on Feel the Noize was originally by the band Slade who are from the UK I believe
The man makes the best bad weather tunes.
You should check out the musical album. It’s just Illinois. Was just on broadway last year
thank you for this one!...neutral milk hotel - in the aeroplane over the sea is another humble request/must listen
So excited to watch this! If you ever get back around to NIN, please listen to Broken before The Downward Spiral 🙏🏽
I’m going to recommend Black Country, New Road’s live album - Live at Bush Hall. All the songs are originals that they have not and will not perform again. It shows them at the transition period and Louis gets some songs which is neat.
Yo I just listened to this the first time cuz Im from Illinois. It sounded more like Javelin than I thought it would. Great album
sometimes when i go for a long drive, i just put casimir pulaski day on repeat for hours. it's such a sad song, but i think what makes the atmosphere so different to carrie and lowell is the evidence of human life beyond just the narrator and his thoughts. the other musicians provide such a warmth and liveliness to this album that it almost feels like a very elaborate school play or jam session in a friend's living room. very special album ❤️
love this! the full length albums deserve attention for sure, but the all delighted people ep is one of my favorite sufjan projects. if it ever makes the list I think you'd really enjoy it!
Begging you to see a reaction of Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience 🙏🏽
This music works so well for the stage musical version
Racing mount pleasant self titled soon?
I CONCUR. such a lovely record
they actually created a musical around illinoise that was on broadway for a brief time i believe year or two ago it won a tony i think???
My favourite album of all time, so excited to watch this one. Would love to see Kevin react to Age of Adz too!
I think All Delighted People would be interesting as well, especially as a bridge between this and Adz
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I would kill for a Fiona apple reaction (if you both listened then it would be lovely as a patreon exclusive revisit) Happy new year❤️
YES
This is so important to me
I hope it takes you less time to get to the rest of Suf's discography than it took you from Javelin to C&L 😭😭
Seeing you guys enjoy music from all over has always been such a treat. I’ve been looking for a new sound to enjoy and this album was it!!! Thank you for sharing your enjoyment and enthusiasm. Happy New Year to you guys and your family ♥️
YES GOD YES GODD
The song Chicago is so nostalgic for me because my mom use to play it in the car all the time when I was like 6. I completely forgot about the song and now at 23 I’ve rediscovered it in the past few months and it is such a good feeling.
Kendrick: "In a new interview with the New York Times, Lamar revealed that Flying Lotus made the beat on opener "Wesley's Theory" and that he sampled Sufjan Stevens on "Hood Politics". (The source track appears to be "All For Myself" from 2010's The Age of Adz.) "
Also, on the Hood Politics thing, it samples a Sufjan track
You mentioned changing streamings services. Since I got YouTube premium I’ve only used YouTube Music. No complaints
I love Subaru, so excited for this. I might go clean too, the comments are inspiring me.
Two albums I would love for you guys to react to and that I think you would really love are turn on the bright lights by interpol and pony by Orville Peck!!
Kevin would go crazy for Orville Peck
