Dad Reacts to ROSALÍA - LUX

Comments (119)

M
Mer · June 30, 2026

Going back and listening to old eps lol. I feel like ideally Rosalia would be performing in opera theatres. Obviously most of them are too small for the crowds she pulls in but in an ideal world that is where I’d want to see her. I live in St. Louis so I’m imagining her at Powell Hall or the Peabody Opera theatre. Indoors with amazing acoustics.

Luis Gonzalez Lopez · January 15, 2026

very boring reaction. This masterpeace ends and you just speak about learning other langages? really? Nothing to say about the experience? The album as whole? The end of the journey? A resume of the quality and valoration of the musical level?. wow

Also, please show Kevin a Björk record. Literally any of them will do but my recs are: Debut, Homogenic, Vespertine (PERFECT WINTER ALBUM), and Post. But again, any album will blow Kevin’s mind, especially since he’s such a big fan of unique vocalists. Edit: 2 seconds after I typed that, Connor said “I’ll probably have to show you Vespertine some day”. I for one would love to see it ◡̈

t
tristany tatauxa · November 13, 2025

The track "memória" features Carminho, who is one of the biggest Fado singers of Portugal at the moment. Most of the song is in Portuguese as it was originally a Carminho song feat Rosalia, but she requested it for her album. It is very nice seeing portuguese music, specifficaly fado (a very melancolic music genre), being showcased to the whole world, a very proud moment specially since it is a beautiful song. Note: i believe the guitar being played is the portuguese guitar, a 12 string guitar used in fado.

In an interview Rosalía gave about the record she talked about how she worked very hard to write lyrics in different languages, fact-checking with native speakers and really putting respect on these languages. She’s an artist on another level

L

you should def listen to El Mal Querer! this album reminds me so much of her early work and it’s a masterpiece

t
tvojeprezuvky · November 12, 2025

I just love when the artist does whatever the fuck they want on the record. Especially a pop artist. It is so refreshing to not hear the same type of songs. We have this baroque church on top of the hill near Olomouc, Czechia where I'm from. I think she would sound heavenly in a space like that :) https://www.ok-tourism.cz/en/cil/basilica-minor-of-the-visitation-of-the-virgin-mary-1/

J
Julia · November 12, 2025

Thank you for this! I'm also not religious one bit but I find this album really stunning and even though there's a lot of christian symbolism in it (obviuosly since Rosalía believes in god and this is a really personal album), I think it's as much about spirituality general, and about finding peace in this world of chaos. That's why I love how she's incorporated different languages to the songs and drawn inspiration from saints of different cultures and faiths. I think this kind of approach is really nice in the world where usually religions are pitted against each other and religious people vs. atheists also.

Maybe a bit unrealistic but a lot of churches here in Europe do classical music concerts so watching her perform this album inside a baroque or just any old church would be insane.

C
Claudia · November 11, 2025

paid the patreon just to watch this video! as a spanish person it makes me really happy to see you appreciate her music even if there’s a language barrier. i really recommend rosalia’s 2nd album el mal querer which is a conceptual album inspired by a novel called flamenca, it was also her bachelor’s degree thesis project. i’m a big fan of the channel, thank you for reacting to great albums and helping me discover new artists!

C
Connor · November 11, 2025

London resident here! Rosalia at the Royal Albert Hall would be insane but also somewhere like The Roundhouse (even though the sound is awful sometimes) or the Union Chapel. Could only imagine how beautiful this would be in a historic outdoor space in Spain or Italy, though.

The outro of La Yugular, where she sings about how every thing in this world is contained within - and is connected to - the next thing, culminating with that Patti Smith quote literally got me crying in the middle of the street yesterday. Such an incredible piece of work, insane to think she took a whole year just to research the theology, and history behind all the saints that inspired the songs.

I'm from Armenia and she's probably never gonna have a concert here but if she would, it would have to be at the national opera and ballet theatre

N
Nicholas Rohaidy · November 10, 2025

I’m sure others have told you but she sings in 13 languages on this record. It’s broken into 4 acts and is supposed to sound like an opera or classical work. the main theme is straddling the physical word with the divine (and divine while has a lot of overt Christian references is also the spiritual, love, the general intangible). For example the opening song is literally saying who could come to the earth and enter into the sky / heaven then come back to earth as if there were to be no floor / divider (and the “heaven” here could be anything like actual religion, or falling in love, or creating art). It’s such a maximalist record and asks a lot of the listener but in the world of quick dopamine fixes if you give this record the intention it deserves it returns dividends. It reminds me of walking through a bustling city during the day with all the chaos and noise but then you look up and catch a glimpse of the moon. The dichotomy of noise and physical life around you with the spiritual stillness of the moon sitting above. Also last fun fact: La Perla is such a WILD diss track for her ex Rauw Alejandro, the Puerto Rican artist. La Perla means the pearl in Spanish but here in Spain calling someone a pearl is a way to call someone a no good lying cheater bad egg basically. But ALSO La Perla is the neighborhood he comes from in San Juan. So it’s not even a double entendre but a triple entendre like he looks good from the outside but he’s a fuckup “emotional terrorist, walking red flag” in her words 😂

j
juan salvador · November 10, 2025

I’m from Spain, and listening to this here has been incredible, an amazing feeling. It’s an album unlike any of the ones that are coming out; it’s a different sound and stellar innovation. I remember when “El Malquerer” was released and how famous Rosalía became here in Spain, and how much I listened to it, to the point where she became one of my favorite artists. I’d love for you to listen to that album because then you’d understand how she started and how this great artist has evolved.

W
William Monprode · November 10, 2025

Detroit - I’d like to see her either at the Fox Theater for the vibes or the DSO hall for the acoustics. This album is a masterpiece!! I highly recommend you listen to the lyric version on YouTube. Animated lyrics for each song with English subtitles (to my knowledge they’re accurate and submitted by Rosalía). There is a lot of story here that yall need to experience. Always requesting James Blake’s Assume Form or 070 Shake’s Petrichor

Pleaasee react to El Mal Querer, also from Rosalía. It's amazing.

A
Alexcx · November 10, 2025

Hope u guys read this. 🥰Rosalia spent more than a year writing lyrics for the album, no production, lyrics only. She said the most important thing about the album are in fact the lyrics, all of the themes, how deep they are, and how they narrate different stories about female saints and different perspectives on god. Dios es un stalker and la rumba del perdon are from God’s perspective. The former is sarcastic and funny, the ladder is more of a judgement to all of human sin. Hope this helps.

A

one of the best of the year, probably the decade tbh. I was floored listening to this. I knew y’all would be blown away too. I love the fact that in the span of two weeks we had two albums that deal with spirituality and religion in two different way: LUX by Rosalia and Everybody Scream by Florence + the Machine. It's interesting how they both come from a place of studying and research and the delivery is from two amazing and ethereal singers, Rosalia and Florence Welch. If you've never heard it I would really recommend it to experience the full spectrum on the themes of religion and spirituality.

Xander · November 9, 2025

I was at the listening party for this album in NYC. I cried during Reliquia and Memória. The way she has taken the time to research saints alone is such a thing of beauty. Rosalía is someone who constantly delivers because she creates music for the artistry and expression itself. She has such a talent for expressing her feelings and thoughts via music. This album delivers such a refreshing sound that it’s already received such superb critiques. Highly recommend listening to Los Ángeles and El Mal Querer too. Also, she had not only the lyrics posted the day of release on Spotify but the translations as well!!!
