On the Sources of Z Conduct ft. Yasha Levine and Evgenia Kovda
We've talked a lot about the information environment in the West, as it pertains to support for the War and its uncomplicated nature. Yasha and Evgenia of The Russians podcast join Riley and Dan to talk about the other side of that information environment - namely, what is being shown to Russian boomers on TV every day? Where did we get the Z? How have a particular view of history and geopolitical realities interacted to produce a strange outcome? All this and more!

Z and O and V and X and A are the military theatre command symbols, painted on vehicles as a last minute command and control measure. Z isn't weird because it's the Latin alphabet, it's just the largest military district and it's distinct from far away. What Russia is doing is terrible but there's also a certain fallacy of thinking if someone speaks the language, they know what they are talking about. Please no more Yasha and Evgeny.
