Riley Quinn Attends Dan Boeckner's School of Rock: Nate Ruess
Our friend singer, songwriter, and host of the acclaimed ClayneCast Nate Ruess rejoins Dan and Riley to discuss his life in the music industry, what to do when a melody springs fully formed from your head, and to define exactly what's up with musician brains that makes them all "like that." Also: tour stories about food, and we get to the bottom of which of the other two members of ClayneCast are evil.

I used to be rather partial to 127 myself, but I find myself more and more enthralled by the 140s. It really lets the breakbeats shine and it opens the door to a world of experimentation in the half-time beats. But I really do agree that straight 4/4 should think twice before venturing past the 130 line. If you sample a fine Kryptic Minds or a ripe D_Bridge, or if you're willing to splurge, a '94 millésime 4Hero, you can find the same raw industrial sonorities, or storytelling inventivity that Techno offers but with a delightful rhythmic twist. And of course the warm, Cultured™ flavours of Future Funk push the paradigm of French House into more spastic, engaging realms.
Riley, I request--no, demand--that you get some unsuspecting British people and watch Fubar with them. Comedy gold.
A Feels in Englandland.
Fun episode but I wonder if Josh Klinghoffer got kicked out of RHCP because word got around about a Pepperman not being able to take the pepper heat...
