A Timmies in Kandahar ft. Nate Bethea
Producer of this podcast, Trashfuture, and also host of Hell of a Way to Die, Nate Bethea, comes on to discuss Afghanistan in the wake of the American withdrawal from the country. We ask what it means for Canada to be "taken seriously," and why this always requires us to send men with guns abroad. We also look at the specifically Canadian roots of the "nation building" approach to warfighting.

Anyone have good book recommendations on what Nate was talking about re: the history of Al-Qaeda and their relationship with the Saudis? Much appreciated!
canada doing a hush hush back channel diplomatic campaign convincing other countries in south america and elsewhere that they didn't actually have to do Iraq war only 2 years after jumping into Afghanistan and getting bogged down there just like every other sucker is the best demonstration of that weird concept that everybody agreed on back then that Iraq was the bad conservative war and Afghanistan was the good liberal war.
Glad you could have Dan from Vulfpeck on this ep
