The thing Hesse describes of the plant in the prison using "fucken" for every second or third word is just hoser culture. It's similar to saying "like" as a vocal tic except way weirder and more aggressive sounding to the unfamiliar. Very common in my northern Ontario hometown.
Also yes goof is a slang term for child molester. Okay wait I just remembered for a while in my hometown there was a guy convicted of second degree murder squatting in the apartment above us and my brother looked into it after some cops looking for him warned us to steer clear if he showed up again. If I remember correctly part of the altercation that lead to the killing involved someone getting called a goof. Im guessing it was a third person that squatter guy was friends with cause otherwise I would assume it would be first degree murder but yeah. Getting called a goof can be a killing matter in Canada
My Dad thought he was being scammed but it turned out to be a real elderly schizo couple writing letters to random addresses based on gematria
Oh hey I just had a relative almost fall for an elaborate phone based invoicing scam - real “oh no there’s been a leak at your bank you can help up figure out who did it “ hours that they only fell for at the start cause they had JUST that day dealt with a Medicare fraud in their name and thought oh no the baddies have all my numbers . I told them at least they got a scam assuming your smart and will ask for things like customer numbers and not oh no your grandkid is in jail and the only way out is Amazon gift cards
