π² Smart Sim Randomizer: Trait Limits
I'm excited to introduce a brand-new Add-on for π² Smart Sim Randomizer:
UPDATE:
Starting with Smart Sim Randomizer v. 3.6.0, Trait Limits are fully integrated. Please make sure to delete the separate Trait Limits Addon, as keeping it installed may cause conflicts and unexpected behavior.
Custom Trait Limits
Until now, the maximum number of randomized traits for each category was determined by fixed values built directly into the mod. While these defaults provide a well-balanced experience for most players, every playstyle is different. Some players prefer only a handful of Likes & Dislikes, while others enjoy creating highly detailed Sims with many preferences, attractions, and personality traits.
With Custom Trait Limits, you are no longer restricted to a single hardcoded value. Instead, you have complete control over how many traits are randomized for every supported trait type and every age group.
Using the dedicated configuration editor, you can define individual limits for:
β€οΈ Likes & Dislikes
π Turn-Ons & Turn-Offs
𧩠Sim Attributes
Every age group can be configured independently. Children, Teens, and Adults can each have their own limits, while unsupported age groups remain locked automatically. If you don't want a specific category to be randomized for an age group, simply set its limit to 0.
The editor has been designed to be fast, intuitive, and easy to use. Every supported trait type is displayed together with its current limits, allowing you to adjust your preferred values in just a few clicks.
As shown above, the Custom Trait Limits section remains visible but locked when the add-on is not installed. The feature is currently available as a separate Early Access Add-on, allowing me to continue testing, refining, and expanding it based on your feedback. Once the system has matured, it is planned to become a standard part of the core Smart Sim Randomizer, making it available to everyone. Until then, users without the add-on will continue using the carefully balanced default trait limits from previous versions.
ποΈ Three Levels of Control
Together with the existing configuration system, Smart Sim Randomizer now offers three independent layers of control over automatic randomization:
β‘ Event Triggers β Decide when automatic randomization is performed.
π₯ Randomization Scope β Choose which Sim groups are affected by each randomization category.
ποΈ Custom Trait Limits (new Early Access Add-on) β Define how many traits are randomized for every supported trait type and age group.
Together, these three layers give you precise control over the timing, scope, and intensity of automatic randomization, making it easier than ever to tailor the mod to your own playstyle.
As always, your feedback is invaluable. This add-on is only the beginning, and I look forward to hearing your ideas for additional trait types, configuration options, and further improvements.

Hi! question. Would you consider adding the few missing ones from Chingyu's "Age Up Add Preferences"? You already have most of them here. They've been gone much longer than they said they'd be and I'm worried now about keeping their mods in my game. Trying to find some replacements where I can and this mod almost fully replaces that one except for a few missing categories they have. mostly their custom characteristics (if they still work?) and the ones from Helaene's Preferences Plus mod (Tralfaz is updating that one now and expanding it). I can probably live without them but figured I'd ask in case it was something you might consider. Thank you! <33
Hi Andirz! I love this add on so much and subscribed for early access because of it. But one thing that I want to see if it's possible to work around, or maybe I just don't understand, is I would love to have the discovery system (I think from growing together?) still work with it. I love when sims realize they love affection, jokes, etc. and it feels like organically their personalities are growing. But I like the idea of having limits when they age up in terms of generating a "starting set" of preferences for that category. I don't want to have to manually add preferences at any point, I like sims aging organically with one or two items in each category, and then having them discover their own preferences over time. I have a feeling it's working exactly in this way in my own gameplay with the add on, but just wanted to mention it just in case I'm misunderstanding.
Thank you for the kind words! At the moment, though, the limits system only applies to my own randomization system, not to the gameβs discovery system. It doesnβt affect discoveries at all.
Been experimenting and testing with this and it works reliably and as you'd expect for every category (including Paws and Claws), except 2. I can't get the randomizer to *not* randomize the "outfit color" category. I have it disabled in the randomizer as well as the limits set to 0-0-0 and it's still giving them 1 like and dislike. I also can't seem to get the "Miscellaneous" category to randomize at all when using Tyjokr's standalone TS2 Turn Ons and Turn Offs.
The problem must be solved now.
