Ends up as one squillonaire’s business messing with another Squillonaires. Maybe Amazon employees feeling like they’re missing the bang that Wildberries is getting ? Looks like they survived the blunder which is good.

What does “energize” mean— “Firefighters are also heard saying that the pilots told them they could not turn the engine off because they would need to “energize” the aircraft, so firefighters had to flood the engine with water from their hoses to disable it.”

Thanks again Denys. As the emergency services were not deployed, it appears that the pilots had not notified any relevant serviceability or malfunction. While the wind conditions were far from ideal, gusting up to 26k is not unusual, particularly with Tx in the area.

I liked and then unliked your comment, sincethe word 'great' just does not sit well with me. But thank you for the extensive analysis Denys, indeed.

As always, good analysis Denys. It will be interesting to learn what was going on in the cockpit. Stay awesome!

I watched the live stream. Of course,we normals grieve for the lost. What happened is also a problem to be examined. The interaction of humans with machines must be studied and has improved things over time.

i'm reading about 5 casualties now... please do not insult the pilots before we know what actually happened! we don't know if there were circumstances that made them choosing to bring the plane down at any cost instead of going around

Sorry Stef, but surely, Denys, as an experienced pilot, may give his opinion, no? Beyond that, 'even' I, as a complete layman, can see how odd it is to have an airplane approach the runway leveled off, by that much. It's also quite (if not very) straight forward that only touching down halfway down the runway is a crystal clear indication of something having gone horribly wrong, in relation to pilot decisions, and (something like) 'pull up and re-approach' would have been the more, if not only logical course of action, or at least so it seems. I myself certainly might be way off (and even outta line), here, and absolutely, await official investigation results before passing any final judgements, but the first signs clearly seem to suggest (significant) pilot error, in this case... even, or as Denys already says, especially under adverse conditions. As I am writing this, though, I reckon you mean that we simply do not know if this might have been the best they could possibly do, for example if they were dealing with certain technical issues we simply cannot confirm, here. Fair enough, I guess, but I will trust Denys' initial judgement at least to start off with. Either way, always terrible, this sort of thing, but certainly with this loss of life.
