Understanding the Music of Joe Hisaishi (REUPLOAD)
This video on Joe Hisaishi's writing for Studio Ghibli is one of my favourites that I've ever made, and it got ruthlessly struck down by the copyright algorithm on YouTube. I recently found out that my Vimeo upload of the video has also gotten taken down, but I realized I could upload it straight onto Patreon here where there are no nosy algorithms trying to enforce a brutally inflexible interpretation of copyright law. So here it is! Check out the video in its pure, uncensored form.

Loved. This. I’d be all for expansion into adjacent musics. It’s inspiring. As you say, so much comes from others before.
its so antithetical to modern pop / tiktok sound bites to lead with a reduced/diminished version (see what i did there?!) of the main melody and then reward the listener for pushing through something they didn't initially understand. Music needs this kind of space to tell its story over time, and it has so much more depth vs. soundbites and chorus only songs for meme consumption. Super well done and I am thankful you did the re-upload!
This is one of the videos that got me into music composition, and I thought about it a lot while watching your recent Silksong video. I had no idea it was getting copyrighted!! I’m so glad I’ve got somewhere to watch it!
Wow, I missed this one originally! Thank you so much for reposting it.
Man, I could have watched at least 8 more hours of this. Is this the Bonus Bit mentioned at the end of the video? https://vimeo.com/843324451
