Avatar (preview 2)

EDIT: I'm in the process of uploading the final video and the upload failed because this preview flagged youtube's "duplicate video" system! So goodbye mr preview. You won't need it in a few minutes

Just a longer preview to reassure that I'm still plugging away on this one! It's a lot of footage to wade through so it feels like it's taking foreverrrr. As always this is a rough estimate but I believe the completed video will be about 15 minutes longer than this.

The winning ramble topic is incoming but I was sort of hoping to get this one done first (but lmk your preference).

(PS There's a dip in the video quality in the middle here! I think it was a rendering error with one chunk of footage when I was attaching my mic audio so I'm going to re-export/replace the source file... after I finish the video and save a copy in case I destroy it by mistake. Hopefully it's not a flaw in the footage itself but I guess we'll be in suspense. But anyway I am aware of it and the one accidental crossfade in this export!)

Weird that YouTube doesn't count 1 preview as a duplicate, but it counts this one. I could have sworn you've done at least 1 video with 2 previews before.

I thought the same but when I clicked through the error message it flagged a specific timestamp starting at like the 17 minute mark of the 2nd preview. I think as with contentid the system just crosschecks small slices of content

Jenny, did you wear your Jake Sully costume to the Valley of Mo'ara, or did you already force it onto a poor child at the Salvation Army store?

I still have nightmares where Jenny is mean to me and tells me to, "Take this Jake Sully costume!" And I'm like, "I don't want to be Jake Sully! I want to be the Fonz! Aaaay!"

Unexpected Folding Ideas sighting! I don't know why but for some reason I find it very satisfying that so many of the people behind my favorite youtube channels are friends.

"This ride is a motion simulator ride which I normally hate and find boring." "I went into this ride prepared to be a bitter hater." "And I like... don't do lines... A 90 minute line in a pretty big concession to me" Sums up all my feelings... EXACTLY. And for whatever reason, I absoultely love Flight of Passage. Even having been on it now loads of times, it still hasn't gotten old. I admit to having never seen the film, Avatar, and I fully appreciated your take on how the land fits in or doesn't fit in to the lore. I probably know more about the film now from watching this video! This is a GREAT video! Your theme park videos are my favorite (for obvious reasons!) :P

So Pandora is basically...Tasmania. If you know what I mean. You don’t see real native people there because they’re, like, gone.

Or maybe the most-sustainable solution was to establish an all-avatar conservator/partnership? If this finalized a little early, before enough language and culture was preserved, that would explain why there are Na'vi who can pose with shovels, but none who can interact with guests and seem authentic.

T
Tom Bowling · December 7, 2018

Hey, shouldn't the Na'vi shun plastic bags and go with something biodegradable?

S
Steve Ray · December 7, 2018

The tourists take all the plastic bags back to Earth, so it's fine.

"It's bizarre to see a theme park project whose motivating drive seems to be spite." I'll never walk past the Flaka tree/bush again without thinking that phrase.

Totally cool with you finishing this up before the ramble comes out. This is already so great, can’t wait for the finished product!

a 40-something minute epic video? *AND* Jenny Style Guide (TM) to boot? happy birthday to me! (literally... today is my birthday) thank you, jenny!

*Ahem!* Our Hostess referred to"[t]he winning ramble topic," which came out *mathematically* to "Top 10 Disney Animal Sidekicks" without the Bottom 5, per the Harvard Scientist video. I'm sure the Style Guide will win eventually, though, but I don't think Science Denial is the way to get there.
