Theres a folk song about wearing your apron low, and this guy getting you pregnant, and then you wear your apron high, so ashamed.
i’ve been trying to bust out of an anxiety attack for like thirty minutes this video did it thank you jenny
Mark Hamill really threw his whole chest into that mountain lion role, and I'm here for it
"This is such an Evermore house!" got me cackling
"Merby Kismas!" 'ugh.'
Opening my own animation studio to produce "The Chad Lamb's Christmas Apron"
Wait no, "The Chad Lamb at the Crucifixion"
I went to a catholic school as a child as we absolutely watched that last movie more than once. For whatever reason Mary's voice saying 'this little lamb...will keep him warm' is burned into my memory
I just gasped with shock when i realized that I have seen The Christmas Apron! I was like 8 and we saw it at my grandmas house. I can confirm my grandma cried at the ending and thought the child actors were super cute. No one else really liked it lol
Intro: I thought it would be fun to get in the holiday spirit 🥰 Video: I hope that child actor’s eyes get gouged out by birds
Man they are REALLY pushing to get young women excited about aprons!
The thing about pointe shoes is that they need to be replaced constantly and are very expensiveeee
That, and they also need to be specially fitted. Hers also look pretty dead already. I hope it would have cut forward to when she first puts them on. Her sounds of agony would have perfectly mirrored the lamb's.
I can't believe both The C L and Rapsittie Street Kids managed to bag Jodi Benson for random side characters. A gig is a gig but man, her Christmas Special repertoire is...something.
oh my god the girl's head from behind in the first one has a very, VERY unfortunate design
That first one made Jenny so bloodthirsty! Beware this woman at Christmas time
I’m thinking that the Christmas apron may have originally been out of something like “chicken soup for the soul”, a collection of short wholesome stories, and then somebody decided to make a movie out of it, but they didn’t have much of a budget, and they didn’t realize that since it’s a short story, there isn’t much story to tell.
It’s based on a novella from a small Christian press. Super short, basically like a picture book with no illustrations. The kind of thing your mom gives a neighbor or friend for Christmas.
"Let's be real...no way did they make a sequel to that." LOL (literally)! Roasted 🤣
"God has forgotten me" is such a raw line
"and so you see, children, that lamb would go on to become the lead vocalist for pioneering alt-metal band System of a Down."
Oh my god the third movie was legitimately one of my sister’s favorite Christmas movies. She was a huge talking animal movie kid growing up. If you’re looking for a really sad one, Nestor the long-eared Christmas donkey is another winner. 1000/10 childhood trauma!
Jenny's impression of the princess was way too good. I genuinely thought the "it's almost Christmas," was a line that was mistakenly looped
Watching the CL while knowing that the mean/perfect lamb is eligible to be sacrificed under the law but spotted lambs were excluded from it had me losing my mind watching it like dw Joshua pookie they’re gonna kill your enemy for being too pretty
I had wonder why you left the credits playing at the beginning of TCL instead of ending after you spoke - Chekhov's Brian Cummings.
Jenny bopping along to a villain song about greed and joyfully going “What a show!”, love it
There's some interesting Bible references in C Lamb. A lamb with an injury can't be sacrificed for Passover. That's why Joshua is still alive when his parents aren't, lol. Also Isaac in Jewish lore is the name of the sheep that Abraham sacrificed in Isaac's place on Mount Moriah -- they had the same name because Abraham named his bellweather for his son. Anyway, sometimes my PhD in religious studies comes in handy but not often lol
no fr I thought the arrogant lamb who coincidentally had no spot or blemish was about to get sacrificed the whole time
Brian Cummings and Jim Cummings aren't related, they can just both do the Pete voice for some reason
WHAT
The Christmas Apron being a tv show episode length but sold as a movie as so funny. You thought we were going somewhere with this? lol, lmao, it's somehow even more trite than what you expected and that's the twist But I did learn that aprons are for wiping children's tears, and waving goodbye to people, and carrying puppies, and shooing away geese, and waving hello to people, and swaddling babies, and wiping children's tears, and shooing away geese, and carrying puppies, and shooing away geese, and wiping children's tears, and waving help get me out of this cave to people, and carrying puppies, and when you're disabled the only value you have is what you do for others, possibly to the point of saving someone's life, and nobody will remember your contribution except as inspiration porn to tell other people their lives are fine actually merry kwithtmusth
I’m so glad I went back to the comments after rewatching because I’m CHO KING
Definitly will start to use "you're gonna have a christmas apron of your own one day with that attitude" in a derogative way
the call backs to the Mean Girls musical are too funny XD
The x lamb was a really beautifully illustrated picture book I loved as a child. It was not plot heavy but was a family staple. I feel like the show version didn’t do it justice but it could just be my own nostalgia. I still like the idea that the lamb didn’t have to prove himself in any way to get the special favor from God. I think that was the whole point.
i've seen better embarrassing trad wife christmas propaganda- i mean specials than whatever that apron movie abomination was lol
Apron doesn’t even sound like a word anymore at this point
The Christmas apron ! Jesus why do I feel like this was made as is bait for trad wives. “ aprons they help us do the most important work there is.. family work” .. Jenny if you were a better wife you would already know the significance of the sacred relationship between a woman and her apron, oh you’re not married! Your poor lost soul, Of course not dear. Because you don’t understand about the aprons. Dear Jesus help this poor stray woman without an apron, or a man, find the courage to turn to the true path put on the scared Apron and have many many children, and do the most important work that you in your wise and most magnificent apron put women folk upon this earth to do… this we pray I’m Aprons name.. arapron. Amen 🙏 .
I kept waiting for Jenny to mention the whole thing with A Fairy Tale Christmas being repackaged as a ripoff of Brave called “Braver” even though it had nothing in common with that move, but it never happened
I know you said no adding Patreon vids to playlists but I wondered if adding them to private ones was okay or if that’s still a problem thanks in advance
Hey I hope you are safe and evacuated, idk where you would update or if you would but here's to you and your family 🙏🏼🫶🏼
So, I think I know why they made The Christmas Apron. I think some Evangelical businesswoman wanted to sell aprons at Cracker Barrel, and this was supposed to be the beginning of a new cultural trend.
I took a shot every time someone said Christmas apron and now I’m the Ghost of Christmas Apron Past.
Right out the gate with "Your Grace, he means you harm!"
This was top tier commentary. I played this on my second monitor and I just kept snorting every thirty seconds.
I crochet & watched this while making a new santa hat for a friend (she changed her hair so the size of the hat needed to change as well :) ) & I was thrilled to see the tree hat & gloves - now I may make myself something for once
Not sure if anyone else has noticed but I have it on good authority the entire monologue from The Christmas Apron is plagiarized from a sentimental Facebook caption I see shared by grandmas/nostalgia pages all the time. You can find the whole thing by searching “history of the apron”, the most recent one when I went to find it today was posted 2 hours ago but the earliest I can find with a quick glance is a post from 2008. It’s so bad that the emotional peak of the film is literally lifted from old lady email chain nostalgia bait, where the wording was waaaay more saccharine/effective. Will post a chunk of the most relevant bit below for anyone who’s interested!
“I don't think most kids today know what an apron is. The principle use of Mom's or Grandma's apron was to protect the dress underneath because she only had a few. It was also because it was easier to wash aprons than dresses and aprons used less material. But along with that, it served as a potholder for removing hot pans from the oven. It was wonderful for drying children's tears, and on occasion was even used for cleaning out dirty ears. From the chicken coop, the apron was used for carrying eggs, fussy chicks, and sometimes half-hatched eggs to be finished in the warming oven. When company came, those aprons were ideal hiding places for shy kids.. And when the weather was cold, she wrapped it around her arms. Those big old aprons wiped many a perspiring brow, bent over the hot wood stove. Chips and kindling wood were brought into the kitchen in that apron. From the garden, it carried all sorts of vegetables. After the peas had been shelled, it carried out the hulls. In the fall, the apron was used to bring in apples that had fallen from the trees. When unexpected company drove up the road, it was surprising how much furniture that old apron could dust in a matter of seconds. When dinner was ready, she walked out onto the porch, waved her apron, and the men folk knew it was time to come in from the fields to dinner. They would go crazy now trying to figure out how many germs were on that apron. I don't think I ever caught anything from an apron - but love.” - source lost to the ages?
how did they have a whole lamb Jesus movie & not drop the ‘lamb of god’ phrase (assuming it wasn’t in a part you cut)
I guess they didn't want to talk about Easter.
No, you see, dad can't be off in the war, because that means mom works in the factory, and that goes against the whole family values tradwife propaganda thing they have going on.
the lamb movie title had me thinking, doesn’t the shepherd break the lambs legs and then carry it around his neck to teach it not to run away in the bible story? so yea that was somehow even more random than i thought
That's a fake Bible story people made up recently to justify spanking children and bullying non-conformists. https://laurarbnsn.substack.com/p/in-bible-times-theyd-break-a-lambs
Was the Christmas Apron set in 1942 solely because that's near to when A Christmas Story was set? It kind of seems like there was no particular reason for it to be a period piece otherwise.
I'm sure this has already been mentioned, but the one about the lamb is basically a reworking of Don Bluth's "Small One". That was a XMas special (yes I am trying to take the Christ out of Christmas, I declare war on the holiday) about a kid trying to sell a donkey. Said donkey was too small to be of any real use and nobody wants it. Then finally a guy named Joseph buys it to transport his pregnant wife Mary, can you guess the name of the baby she's about to have?!!? Pretty much the same message: that thing you think is a flaw has a divine purpose after all. In fairness, I suspect there are a LOT of Christian stories where the twist is, "But then Jesus."
During the Christmas Apron, Jenny said that the parents being like "we haven't a penny for Christmas" is very Evermore-esque. Funny story, Covenant Communications is also a Utah- and Mormon-based company lmao
Also the mom in the christmas apron stars in "beauty and the beast: a latter-day tale" which is equally terrible
As a disabled viewer, thank you for being mindful about the archaic title for the last film.
She was like 8 when she got kidnapped. How did she just "forget" she was a princess?
I assumed the bottle of magic vapor made her forget. They could've explained it better for sure
I kept hoping one of them would be Noel (the happy Christmas ornament). Random forgotten animated special from the early 90's that's so much up Jenny's alley that I honestly can't believe she's never mentioned it. Guess there's always next year
The lamb story is based on a children’s book, and I know this because, incredibly coincidentally, I was jump scared by this book while working at my library job (I did not know it existed until then). In the book he is shorn for his wool to keep baby Jesus warm, so the moral becomes “God has a plan for you, and all your hardship is so you can sacrifice things for your Lord and Savior.” Interesting to see they cut that part out, and not any of the other questionable material. You can still find the book for purchase online since it is still being published, and no: the title has not changed. (Also this is an original story from the late 90’s so it’s also not very old! Yikes!)
The Christmas Apron isn't just an apron, it's also an apron that we wear on Christmas. It's also a metaphor. For aprons.
Happy new year (from NL 🤣
Jenny’s thirst for violence in the first movie is so friendship is witchcraft coded
Is it just me, or did the princess's hair, from behind, look like a wiener? Almost a nod to the Disney hidden wieners?
Why did the villian provide a fake princess when the whole point was to keep the king looking for her?????? would that not foil his own evil plan
I was really scared the disabled lamb was going to be the one that Abraham burned alive as a sacrifice in the place of his son
I was shocked Jesus didnt cure the little lamb, honestly what a rip-off
"Asa, what happened to the baby?" "He was executed by the government for spreading anti-capitalist propaganda, why?"
I worked at a bookstore where we sold The Christmas Apron when it came out. The reason the apron was so generic in the movie was because we had stacks of generic aprons that resembled it which were meant to be sold along with the video.
You too can carry puppies in your very own Christmas Apron^tm
game theory: the reason the family was able to afford a piano in "A Christmas Apron," despite not having a penny to their name, and the fact that Father wears a suit despite working at "the factory," is that this is still set in 1942 but in the world of Philip K. Dick's The Man in the High Castle and the gifts have come from the home of Widow Anderson who has been reported to the occupying government, explaining the bizarre reliance on the importance of "women needing aprons to be domestic partners" and just like the entire vibe
I love how here for violence Jenny is in that first video
They waited way too long to reveal the dad in the Christmas Apron was disabled, I was way too annoyed at him being a draft dodger 😂
love how the sneaky guy has to overhear a father telling his daughter that hed be lost without her in order to scheme. like id just assume most parents would be really upset if anything happened to their kid
It's all fun and games...
Those Christmas Tree mittens are great lol. Thanks for another year of rambles/videos Jenny!
the singing lamb is the voice of Lefou, so technically it is the Gaston of lambs
Highly recommend “Annabelle’s Wish.” It’s about a cow who dreams of becoming a reindeer. No joke, my favorite animated Christmas movie that no one has heard of. :p
I FORGOT ABOUT ANNABELLE'S WISH I watched that so much as a kid!!
You hit the nail on the head, you look just like the princess hahaha
That first special: literally how the Carolingians seized power from the Merovingians
I think all the wacky micro expressions were a product of cheap, primitive computer generated tweening.
You will never know how much this helped me tonight. Just having your parasocial company at the right moment. And I have no idea why this helps so much, it just does.
Ty Jenny for this Christmas bounty of content. I hope your holidays are excellent. I love your ramble outfits. I get way too excited by a different outfit, the first video I ever caught was dear Evan Hanson and I didn't realize for way too long that you were Evan haha I thought that was just you, living your best life. Also I almost died laughing when you were prompting that bird to go for the eyes!
TERRIFYING JOKER LION
Right before the little girl’s sister unwrapped the metronome I was like “a metronome! A metronome! To reminder her how she can’t play the piano!” I laughed so hard I teared up when it was actually a metronome
I was more "ooo, an obelisk. No one has ever given me an obelisk for Christmas" because my friends and family have failed me.
theres no way that apron movie isn’t some kind of bizarre evangelical/tradwife propoganda. “the most important work of all” oh im sure also since they say “30 years ago” in the beginning of the lamb movie it would be both very funny and biblically accurate to respond to “what happened to jesus” with “oh he’s dead”
100% the reason it’s so terrible and shallow is that it’s basically just evangelical clap trap - all little girls should dance beautifully and dream of having an apron of their own!
she looks so cute in this hair and makeup 🫶
I didnt think they could make an even lower budget knockoff of swan princess christmas but here we are
I wonder if they could use the Christmas apron to carry in puppies from the yard?
That's just silly
i like the that the animators decided to make a majority of the bird and the walls of the exterior AND interior castle the exact same color
Jenny have you heard about the Disney tv show Evermoor
Just in case Jenny is reading the comments, have you seen Skeleton Crew on Disney plus? I know you don’t watch much tv. Some of the scenes look like they may have been shot in the Star Wars hotel.
Me, a IHE veteran: A Fairytale Christmas? 🚬 I haven't heard that name in years 🚬
I was about to comment this but you beat me to it :D IHE went through the first movie in his video ages ago here : https://youtu.be/IRbjyMnX62A?t=222
As a German, I feel so seen by wanting birds to do violence in a fairy tale.
As a native speaker of English, mad props to you Germans for calling dragonflies "the Devil's sewing needles."
I love how Evermore is so foundational to Jenny's world that it can be peppered into all the content and we nod along when it's referenced.
Man, I hope they washed that apron
"She has metronome trauma" literally made me lol
I did not expect this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special to share some elements with an obscure low budget animated Christmas special from 2000 lol
"And Jed made it just in time to wrap their newborn baby in the apron" The one that's been outside for hours in a blizzard? 😅
I wish that when they had Christmas dinner at the end of the first movie , it turned out they were having venison for dinner and the deer was horrified.
Surprised to hear a horse girl say that four legged animals do fine with only three legs. How many three-legged horses have you met? Hoofed animals are different than cats and dogs. What I'm saying is that if this inn-keeper were a caring owner he would have humanely euthanized the disabled lamb, and then Jesus would have frozen to death because Joseph and Mary were too stupid to wrap the baby up in their own voluminous clothing.
With horses the issue is more that their size makes them notoriously hard patients. They're big and strong and hard to control, hard to convince to rest, used to living their lives standing, and also any level of stress can cause digestive problems that can be fatal. The reasons you don't see a lot of 3-legged horses is: if a leg's been amputated that means there's been a surgery, which horses don't recover easily from. If a horse isn't useful to be ridden from birth or otherwise, most people aren't willing to finance their lives, which usually means euthanasia. Compare to something like a dog, are usually just companion animals and aren't expected to do very physical jobs, lower to the ground and aren't carrying a human so it matters less if they occasionally fall, easier patients because they're small enough to be controlled, usually easier temperament about lying down for a lot of the day tl;dr the reason you don't usually see horses with 3 legs is pretty horse-specific and also related to human culture. A lamb with human intelligence and a leg that's not functional but is intact with no risk of infection could survive fine and even probably jump over puddles with his 3 other legs
In a Christmas book I had as a kid, there’s a story kinda similar to the lamb special called the littlest angel. The littlest angel wants to get to Bethlehem before all the big angels do when Jesus is born. She gets starflowers to give him and then flies away. She stops and helps a baby bird in the nest, and a starflower falls. She cures a sick baby and a starflower falls. She goes to help a lamb with a broken leg and she doesn’t know how and all her starflowers fall out and she can’t get them back cause her wings are really tiny and she can’t fly fast. She walks to the stable and she’s sorry that she doesn’t have anything to give Jesus but Mary says that a creature in need is the best gift of all. Baby Jesus cures the lamb and the littlest angel visits every year on Christmas and brings music to good people. Different cause it’s not really about the lamb and also the lamb isn’t like born with a broken leg, it just happened.
Also the lamb got cured. I know that’s like a dicey topic because I know there are many disabled people who don’t feel they need to be cured because they’re living full, wonderful lives. And I fully respect that, there’s nothing wrong with that. But this little lamb says verbally he wants to be like the others and also is in constant pain. So maybe Jesus could have done him a solid like in the littlest angel.
Am I cruel hearted for being so annoyed by the characters of Christmas Apron that I just wanna let loose a whole army of chickens into their household? Am I monster for wanting to fill every corner of that household with so many chickens that there won’t be enough Christmas Aprons in the world to save them? And when they try to shoo away some of the chickens, I’ll pump in more?
Am I the only one that thought baby Jesus was healing the lamb when he pet him? Like I was like whoa, the baby Jesus made him whole with his healing touch! Oh wait no, he’s still disabled.
I feel like these videos need more apron content.
"You see, it's a GOOD thing you were born a cripple and in pain your whole life. For other people got to use you one time. And that makes your pain all worth it!"
it's the heads of the guards
I take back everything I said about the voting problems. The whole thing is 100% Patreon’s fault. If they would just allow Jenny to hide the vote count during the voting period it would fix everything. It’s not normal for vote counts to be visible while voting is occurring. It’s not how presidents are elected; it’s not how popes are elected; it’s not how best supporting actresses are elected. Hiding the vote count during voting prevents all sorts of election shenanigans and makes the process of voting equal for everyone no matter when they vote. Yet Patreon won’t add the simple feature of letting account owners hide the vote count if they want to. Patreon, if you can read this, I want you to know I blame you for everything. I hope a cute little bird scratches your eyes out. Even though there are other, less horrifying ways to resolve the matter this is the way I have chosen! Incredibly enough, I’m willing to say so out loud and even repeat it several times to make sure everyone gets the message.
Jenny said she likes that we can see the votes because if we are currently voting for a topic that isn’t in contention, we can come back and add a vote to one of the frontrunners. So I think she said even if Patreon allowed votes to be hidden she probably wouldn’t want to do it.
Why do they have a pig in Bethlehem?
Some guy at the inn is trying to start the tradition of calling pork short mutton so you can sell it to British tourists for breakfast.
King of the first movie: Rejoince my subjects! The excessive taxes will be lifted and reimbursed now! Peasants: Awesome! King: However, my daughter just discovered and proved that animals are all thinking, sentient, talking beings, so we can't really eat them anymore. Sooo good luck with the whole "eating in winter" thing... Sorry...
"With that attitude, you might get a Christmas apron of your own one day," sounds like a threat.
Oh no, my mom got me an apron for xmas and ill never know what it means
LOTR was not an allegory, but Tolkien did call LOTR a “fundamentally religious and Catholic work.”.
Chad Lamb invents the hot water bottle out of spite.
Scratching my eyes out in gratitude for a bonus video.
I SERIOUSLY thought that in the Christmas Apron one, it would be revealed that the parents intentionally staged fake arguments about money to lower their expectations for Christmas and generally keep them in line. When the grand piano was revealed the only conclusion I had was "oh, they were lying."
Thanks - I watched - Mr Stink... cheers
I'm just imagining in the final movie, when the animals asked "So what happened to the baby?" The camel just goes, "Nyehehe, he was CRUCIFIED."
The first movie reminded me of that weird Christian version of The Princess and The Pea that came out a while ago
Oh my god, I was in shock at how ableist the crippled lamb one was (also, I'm disabled, that is a slur, thank you for not saying it, I appreciate it :)
I noticed you said you found the second movie in a video store. They still have those?
The first film, if you gave it Disney level animation, it would do well in theaters. Also, a crippled lamb would be perfect for tender meat as it wouldn't be very active.
Okay just got done watching Nosferatu so let me pick a Christmas special from the wiki. Hmm clicked on random special and got...Nestor, the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey (1977) 👀 welp I'll be back in 24 minutes.
The stop motion animals were great and the songs were good, but the constant bullying Nestor received for his long ears cut me deep 😔 7/10 Christmas special.
Manifesting that Jenny gets a costume design Oscar nomination for the Christmas tree hand
Jenny's glee at the first evil song gives me life.
The light Evermore shade in this video is hilarious
“And she died! A miracle!” The apron can be used to carry puppies in from the yard, wave to people, and strangle whoever gets in the way of a Christmas wish.
Did I expect I would spend Christmas morning watching Jenny react to Christmas tradwife propaganda? No. Am I upset about it? Also no.
So glad someone else thought the phrase “tradwife propaganda” because I came here to type that exact thing. Jenny is like “why would someone make this!” And I’m like “…I think we know why…”
That moment when you realize that mountain lion was voiced by Mark Hamill...
Oh my god! I missed this drop. Merry Christmas to me (us)!
Okay, random Christmas Special I saw as a kid was the one from Mickey's House of Mouse? It was a movie based on the cartoon and they were snowed in and they showed clips of old mickey holiday bits I think. House of Mouse must not have had the reach I always thought it did because no one ever knows what I mean, but the Mickeys House of Villains spinoff movie was a structural building block of my childhood
I remember the house of mouse clip show!! They got snowed in!
Merry Christmas Jenny and to all of us here on Patreon. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. :)
29:57
I was just about to type it, and she said “she looks like me so I should stop”. I had to acknowledge it.
Merry Christmas Jenny, hope you and your family have a lovely holiday. Thank you for a wonderful year of thoughtful and engaging video essays and rambles. I’m sure I’m not the only one who is grateful for the respite!
In the first one that evil guys brother didn't even use the money he was bribed with... he just kept the bags in a box in his cupboard!! (at 19:03)
I got a little choked up when the sister said she used her wish for her. Just one of those little emotional moments that works despite the rest of the nonsense. Glad I’m not alone in this!
I cry at bloody everything. I was very proud of myself for not getting emotional at any of these.
Goal for tomorrow, work the phrase "Christmas is like an apron" into the conversation.
You spoil us!
A surprise, but a welcome one
Happy Holidays Jenny! hope all is well with you
Yep definitely want the sequel to that last one. Set at easter. Where the lamb uh. Is somehow there.
If the framing narrative for the Lamb story was set 30 years after the birth of Jesus, that means while Benjamin the goat is being told the story of his birth, Jesus is actively being crucified... Amazing lore
how you spoil us jenny. i love how bloodthirsty you wanted the cartoon animals to be
I gasped when I saw the thumbnail! I grew up with the lamb movie (a gift from my very religious grandma), and even as a kid felt very much that the “reward” really didn’t match his “sacrifice.” Lol. If anyone wants another great unheard of Christmas movie choice, I recommend Annabelle’s Wish.
Like surely an all powerful and all knowing god could have contrived a different reason for the lamb to be in the barn that one night other than permanently injuring one of his legs right
It’s a Christmas miracle!
Nothing says Christmas like a cartoon bird scratching out everyone’s eyes!
Thank you for the reminder of Rodney the Reindeer plush. Mega nostalgia win for Xmas Eve 🎄
The angry little lamb was lowkey giving jayfeather warrior cats but also I did get teary when he warmed the baby
seeing the second notification on your patreon was a TRUE christmas miracle !
Have you seen Jim Henson's The Christmas Toy? I feel like you'd like the cat toy character. Toy Story is very similar (sometimes suspiciously so, but living toys isn't a new concept so idk 🤷♀️)
Nobody: Jenny: "GO FOR THE EYES"
An enchanted jingle bell is a Christmas special basis just waiting to be produced
Honestly the fact that the first movie crammed in so many songs into 40 minutes is lowkey commendable like I love that there was actual effort put into the soundtrack of a movie that was otherwise a modge podge of Disney ripoffs
I can't stop hearing the lamb's upset, congested little "god has forgotten me..."
thank you for the bonus video jenny i will love and cherish it forever. happy Christmas!!
Is Christmas Apron supposed to be Christian tradwife propaganda cause that's the vibe I'm getting from it a little bit
lamb probly got et up et right up
Nice video but I don't understand the point of the Christmas Apron. Isn't it just to keep clothes clean when cooking? What's so special about that?
You see, its not just an apron. You can wipe tears with it and carry puppies and it also reminds you that your place is in the kitchen...
YAHOOO Christmas miracle
Everyone drop the obscure Christmas specials you're watching that you found from the wiki list below! I'm watching 'A Young Pioneer's Christmas', which so far has been a lot of talk about railroads and land and marriages, but at 38 minutes in, no mention of Christmas
Watched The Fourth King (1977) an animated film where animals select a lion King (original idea do not steal) to visit baby Jesus. He has nothing to offer Jesus except for a song from a bird who accompanies him, despite the lion singing for most of the film. This only aired once due to poor quality.
I like how in the first story, Angela sings about how every girl wants to be a princess, so she guesses she's "just like every other girl." And the point of the story is that SHE'S NOT LIKE OTHER GIRLS!
"We shall name our child....Crippled Lamb, after that crippled lamb over there."
I don’t think they even scouted an old house for The Christmas Apron because that house is cavernous by 1940s standards. I think it’s a modern McMansion decorated to look vintage. Furniture might be real antiques.
That movie is very much a period-piece-by-assertion. At no point was I convinced that it was the 1940s. In my mind, it was always the 2000s, and occasionally I'd just be pulled kicking and screaming back into "OH YEAH, THERE'S SUPPOSED TO BE A WORLD WAR GOING ON!"
You can tell that last special is going to get into biblical territory the moment when the camel patriarch shows up. Camels don't get many good non-Bible roles in animated movies.
This art is very 'early neopets' vibes
So you didn’t stop recording after Mean Girls! You‘re like HBomberguy! You say „This is the end of the video“, and then go on for another hour. Spectacular!!!
RE: The Christmas Apron, given the "Covenant Communications" card at the beginning, I'd put money on it being tradwife propaganda that was intended to be used as a teaching tool for Christmas sermons. It probably felt like the summary of a plot because that's all they needed. It would also explain the full DVD release. I wouldn't be surprised if you could find a discussion booklet like they made for that Kirk Cameron movie Fireproof.
I looked into this and they're an LDS book publisher who also distributes religious and family films not specifically made by them. They also distribute The Christmas Dress, Christmas Oranges and My Broken Horse Christmas along with many others.
Woahhh I’d completely forgotten about the existence of A Fairytale Christmas! It used to be one of my favourite films as a kid (alongside some other obscure terrible-good faves like Toyland and The Christmas Dinosaur).
This video is your villain arc.
As a christmas princess you sometimes have to make an example of your enemies
Thanks for the bonus treat Jenny :) Have a nice christmas x
The three scariest words ever: Jennifer Nicholson, Optometrist
Make that Princess Optometrist! "Good evening, Chancellor Winthrop... the way you stare at my father's throne is troubling to me... so let us discuss how your *vision* can be corrected, just you, and I, and my assistant, Nurse Chirpy!"
Is it possible to make a religious film that isn't terrible? I feel like someone could make a well written and acted film that has a religious message, but I've yet to come across one.
Ben Hur! And Lord of the Rings is largely a religious parable.
I knew the ending of the last video was suspicious, well played cooler Jenny
Lamb got upstaged in his own movie like Jyn Erso
Jenny, you seem very invested the ability of tiny little birds to do meaningful violence.
The bird's character conflict was worrying they were useless but I would argue there was one skill set they weren't taking advantage of
Thank you for making this I really needed an extra boost this year
Can we have a new Buff Rats patreon tier?
Not me and Jenny both saying out loud “this is very Anastasia” at almost the exact same time 😂
More Jenny than we're contractually obligated to?! It's a Christmas miracle!
The horse neigh at 46:42 was used in the 90s computer game Daggerfall, which I played day and night back in the day. Just had to give it a shoutout because it turns out it's a very common stock sound and I'm always excited to notice it in a show.
It's EVERYWHERE. I think it was even in the Wicked movie and I was offended that they had a real horse on set yet they used the most generic stock horse noise!
I would absolutely recommend Anabelle's Wish. It's an animated 90s straight-to-vhs movie about a cow that wants to be a reindeer and a boy stuck in a custody battle. It's narrated by Randy Travis and the voice cast includes Cloris Leachman, Jim Varney, and Jerry Van Dyke. Also the voice actress for Ducky from the Land Before Time plays one of the main characters. I make all my friends watch it lol
I love that the two new videos have different colored background lights to match the themes of the videos
Thank you for the bonus vid! I had a one year and could not afford to re-up, but hopefully my YT premium will still support you making your videos.
Hey Joe, Jenny’s video got me in the Christmas spirit, so I’d love to gift you another year’s membership, but Id need a way to send you the gift code. Would you be comfortable dropping your email so I can send it to you, or is there another way I can message you, it seems Patreon doesn’t allow users to direct message each other.
Christmas Apron felt like a psyop to convince girls of the value of domestic labor
Esp when they told her she might have a christmas apron of her own one day, like there's already one in the family so I feel like the idea of her having "her own" could only have been referring to children
It’s a Christmas miracle!
Thank you for the early Christmas gift, Jenny!
Wow, the Christmas Prince would vibe hard with this king. “Governance doesn’t matter; it’s Christmas!” #ThisFraudulantChristmasPrince ADDENDUM: This lamb rules. I wanna be friends with this lamb.
Sometimes an apron is just an apron.
"Four legged beasts do pretty well without one of their legs" can confirm: we have a tripod cat and while she isn't winning any agility contests she gets around just fine.
We also had one of those when I was a kid… she started out with four legs but then one night she dragged herself home with only 3 functional legs and a giant gaping wound across her shoulder, I didn’t see it but my dad swears there was exposed bone… anyway she made a full recovery, went around dragging the dead leg for a while, went back to the vet to have it amputated and was much happier after that. She lived for many more years and never had another incident like that. All our cats were outdoor cats back then but I know better now lol
Yay!! So excited for this 🎄 Merry Christmas everyone ☃️
everybody: Jenny: SCRATCH THEIR EYES OUT
WHAAAAAAAAT THANKS JENNY
But it’s my first month on Patreon and I’ve had 3 new vids. Am I cheating?
A very unexpected Christmas gift! Thank you, Jenny! Merry Christmas to you🎄
GO FOR THE EYES GO FOR THE EYES Nothing more festive than a little holiday bloodlust
The Christmas colours are green and red, and there were already evergreens...
Both Jenny and Luca Guadagnino have surprised me with releasing things I didn’t expected from them so soon. First Guadagnino follows Challengers with Queer within the same year, which gave me whiplash, now Jenny does a double ramble. Thank you very much for the very hard work and dedication into the awesome videos this year, it’s been really exciting. I don’t regret signing onto the Patreon ever since I did! Keep up the good work, and happy holidays!
Ramble: Jenny's uncompromising condemnation of That Kid's Acting
I think my favorite obscure christmas movies are the life and adventures of Santa claus where it's just a dude in the woods carving toys and there's randomly fairies and then olive the other reindeer lol
Not enough Christmas movies use the “going for the eyes” trope
Surprise Jenny christmas present!!
But they can’t tax EVERYTHING.
Then the evil guy went and invented Goods and Services Tax
The lamb video was obviously influenced by Rudolph but I think there are some Tarantino influences as well. His journey to the manger reminded me a lot of Butch’s odyssey to retrieve the gold watch except this time Zed was a lion and didn’t own a pawn shop.
That first villain song went hard.
bonus jenny content, its a christmas miracle!!
I clapped when Jenny's Christmas tree hand came out of the box :D Also what's the reindeer in her background image? I know I've seen it before but can't remember where.
Oh it's Rodney I should've read the replies. Anyway I heard the cr××pled lamb got turned into the Christmas Apron 😔
I saw the Bible story coming as soon as I saw the hay bale in a barn.
And the lambs wool was used to make a Christmas apron.
I straight up thought the credits after The Christmas Apron would reveal that the whole thing was produced by an apron company as an ad
My favorite Christmas movie no one has ever heard of is Nester the Christmas donkey
yessss I love Nestor. It came in a box set of dvds we had when i was a kid. I loved it because it was such a bummer and I was a maudlin little shit, and also because my siblings hated it. I also loved cricket on the hearth, which came on the same dvd. It was also kind of dark and weird, but less overtly religious. It had an absurd plot and featured a song called "smiles go with tears" that just randomly gets stuck in my head sometimes.
I’m just a dad folding my kids clothes over here on Christmas Eve and hearing about how family work is the work that says I love you almost has me in tears. lol. 🥲
"Gouge his eyes!"
Heyyyyy, merry Christmas, all!
The other animals ask the camel what happened to the baby and he's like "he got crucified! but that's a story for another day! Merry Christmas!"
Jenny reacts with fear at the lion but I'm just delighted to hear Mark Hamil hamming it up as a villain.
I spent the whole time trying to figure out what animal he was. I was certain that he wasn't a lion due to the lack of mane and clearly adult size, but I guess NOT! Also, love the stock tiger roar sound effect, because everyone thinks that's what lions sound like now. /s
Oh gott, now i have homework?? well I suppose if i must. I will report back with my review of whatever strange christmas special I end up with.
Returning. So, when I hit random on the christmas speciasl wiki I ended up with DAVE FOLEY's "The True Meaning Of Christmas Specials" I feel like it might not be quite in the spirit of the challenge because its a christmas special thats also a parody of christmas specials. it was. interesting. the humor was definitely 2002.
I’m so glad this christmas I was able to learn what aprons are for. I’d been confused for so long!
I am watching one called Olive the Other Reindeer. Michael Stipe from R.E.M. is the voice of one of the reindeer. I can’t wait to watch your video!
this video will become MY obscure christmas special. obscure christmasception
How come the king is back in the castle at the end when the whole point was to keep him out somewhere looking for his daughter forever
I completely forgot that we had a Joshua the lamb picture book that was always read to us when we were little! I was one of those kids in a super religious household who got in trouble for asking questions like "why did God make the lamb hurt forever instead of just giving Mary a blanket." Oops
When I started watching this video, I didn't expect to see a lamb saying he was forgotten by God...IN BETHLEHEM
I know this is against the spirit of the movie, but I keep comparing Josie, the uprooted city girl turned pioneer, to anecdotes I've heard about women out on the prairie who suffered breakdowns from the isolation and the hardships and the unending sound of the howling wind. Did the Christmas apron stuff up the holes in her sod house so the screaming wind couldn't reach her?
I love Jenny but you can tell she didn't grow up poor. Many Christmases my presents weren't bought until Xmas eve. Maybe that is payday
I get what you're saying, but I think the really weird thing about the scene was the way that it was framed like they hadn't talked about how they might not have money for Christmas presents before then. Surely they would've planned something earlier? Also, if you're going to find and pick up someone's piano, you probably need longer than like... a day? That kid hung up the piano wish pretty late, right?
Weirdly the part about not shopping or decorating (or talking about how you don't have the money to do that) until Christmas Eve is the most period-accurate part of that movie. At least for my grandparents, it seems like it was typical to buy and decorate the tree on Christmas Eve, though usually you'd be buying/making presents before that. Or go out and chop the tree down yourself the day of, if you lived in a forested rural area.
It’s traditional in Germany to put the tree up on Christmas Eve!
Jenny lowkey obsessed with scratching out eyes.
Now all I can think about is that RLM video when they watched the self-defense guy say “gorge his eyes!”.
The one I always think of when I think of an obscure Christmas special is 1948’s “Santa in Animal Land.” It is extremely terrifying, although I don’t think it’s supposed to be.
Apparently this began airing on TCM a few years ago, although I had originally seen it from a VHS anthology called Hector’s Christmas
YESSSSS thank you for bonus content! Merry Christmas! ⛄️
Jenny, could you take a shot at the Fairy Tale Christmas girl's eye makeup? What's going on with that lower lid?
best christmas gift ever!!!!!!!!!
haha this is such a cute drop right after your very subtle closing of the mean girls video. let us rejoice, for it was not the last drop of the year!
This was the BEST surprise and made me so happy! Now to cleanse my palate with a Muppet Christmas Carol (the best version-apologies to Bill Murray)
we bow
IT:S A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE! Woo hoo!
I like that The Christmas Apron is all-in on aprons, like they came up with an odd Christmas story and they're going to get as much mileage as they can out of the concept
A Christmas surprise!! Yaaay thank you :D
Dude the Crippled Lamb is by this popular Christian children's book author named Max Lucado, a preacher from Texas who's books haunted my childhood with deeply confusing themes. My parents would read me his book "You are Special" a lot, a book in which the MC is sad that he was born disabled and God is like "That's okay, I made you that way." And that's... that's the whole book.
I sort of appreciate the attempt to address it since I feel like so much US Christianity is so ableist (think muscular Christianity), but yeah, that's really not helpful... My brother is disabled now and I don't think he's been able to believe since he became so....
Solution to the voting for ties problem: Set a specific date and time when the poll ends. When the deadline is reached if the margin of victory is ten or more declare a winner. If the margin is less then ten have a runoff in a new poll open to all tiers. There would no longer be any incentive to vote for a tie.
Jenny cooked us Christmas dinner!
This is one of your funniest videos - thank you for a bonus video!
"See, God fucked up your leg for your whole life just so you could make his kid warm! Isn't he great!?"
Right?! "Instead of contriving a way for a warm blanket to be left behind, the Almighty has ruined your body for this one evening. Congrats."
Oh my gosh I just had a flood of resurgent memories from the lamb movie from when I was a kid and my babysitter only allowed religious television and this was the go to Christmas movie. I'd forgotten it existed. Also nick and Pete is the best little known Christmas special movie
Just putting it out there that I think a violently upbeat Jenny is the best version...
I'd assumed the one thing a Christmas special would get right would at least be its moral or message but 2/3 of these fail at that which shocked me and made me cackle
Yay this will get me through my morning working from home! Merry Chrysanthemum 🎄
"I learned a valuable lesson..." Well I didn't, and I'm the Audience!
"This apron... It's the last thing to be seen by those who we love..." "What!?" "...when we wave good-bye from the porch." "Oh..." I had the exact same reaction 🤣. Grandma was talking like the apron was the old-fashioned euthanasia method.
Voting for ties makes patrons feel powerful
Yay for the 🎁
Absolutely lost my mind at "GOD HAS FORGOTTEN ME." Thank you for the christmas gift, Jenny!
Sorry Jenny but they ate the lamb that night and fed his withered leg to the dogs. Remember that these are the inkeepers who made a woman give birth in the animal pen rather than just making some space inside.
Oh my god I remember that first one from an old IHE video LMAO I think the Disney Knockoffs.
This made me go try to find the obscure Christmas specials from my childhood and someone on reddit figured out one of them within like 12 minutes of me posting on r/tipofmytongue. Crazy. It’s called Christmas in cartoontown
Me watching A Fairytale Christmas: "My liege! He means you harm!"
Enjoy a bloodthirsty (eyethirsty?) Jenny
thank you jenny! i was just getting on the road to go up north <3
... Santa?
I'm totally with you on child actors who are too young to have any sense of enunciation and pronunciation that they're just incomprehensible, but people give them a pass for being cute. NO, GRANDMA! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THAT CHILD SAID!
Sneaky Santa!
You spoil us, Jenny!!! Merry Christmas!
prefab shed with thatched roof is my new favorite recurring jennyverse character
OK so I feel like the Christmas Apron movie has like so little to do with the Apron it's hilarious? Like there's an Apron there, and they like it, but it doesn't forward the plot in any way it's just an unrelated thing. Amazing
omg that thumbnail just rocketed me through a nostalgia wormhole, I used to rent that VHS all the time from the church library 😭
oh god skipped to that portion of the video and unforch the lamb story still very much makes me cry omg
If we didn't just get a new kitten, this would be the best xmas miracle I could ask for.
SHOCKED!!! thank you JENNY!🤩😍
One of my new favourite videos. I had to stop drinking my coffee as I was laughing so much. Thanks Jenny. Merry Christmas to you and yours 💛
Thank you for this Christmas gift, Jenny!
Prayers: Answered. If you'll excuse me i have some vows of silence & pilgrimages to follow through on
It’s a Christmas miracle!!!
such a fantastic christmas eve surprise!!! thanks so much and Happy Holidays!!
Yo!!
yayyyy
who could have seen this coming!
yay what a wonderful surprise!! :)
So that last movie is set like 30 years after the story of the lamb? Imagine the possibilities... "And what happened to the baby?" "Well, he was actually painfully executed recently. Sorry."
Jenny, you're the best! We always watch for the holidays, Santa Claus conquers the Martians and Santa and the 3 bears. You know what they should make? A Hallmark DIY Christmas special starring Nicole and Lauren, with special guest star Queen Thea! Merry Christmas Jenny and thanks. :)
Thank you queen Jenny for Christmas joy
I was happy that mean girls won but kinda disappointed this one didn’t make it since it’s so fitting for the season/it was so close. Thank you Jenny!!! Happy holidays !
“And what did Santa bring you for Christmas??” “MOAR JENNY NICHOLSON!!1!”
It can scratch and gouge out their poorly drawn eyes, then rip out their jaws and tear off their external genitalia! Wheeeee!
ok the second one is definitely tradwife propaganda. i was sus when they pulled out the apron but "moving to the country to be closer to god but not knowing how to chop wood" sends it over the edge.
ahhhhh "the most important work we do - family work" i'm dead. deceased. merry xmas!
Omg thank you so much! Does anyone know where the backing image of the round/stuffed looking reindeer is from? I’m obsessed and I must know more
That's Rodney Reindeer
I JUST SCREAMED THANK YOU (and merry christmas jenny!!!!)
You are the best!
You stopped at a video store LAST YEAR? Does your family live in 2005?
There's a chain called Family Video Store in North Texas that was still running last year, I think.
Thank you Jenny. I feel sufficiently distracted from the horrors
omg !!! merry christmas eve from sweden!
omg we don't deserve you Jenny 😢
Thanks Jenny!!
thank you jenny i am sick, all i can do is watch videos and nap and you are feeding me rn <3
What a sneak
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ONE AND ALL 😖💕😍😍
Thank you for the gift Jenny! I became a patron this year after the Star Wars hotel video and I don't regret it one bit. Happy Holidays and New Year to everyone!
Thank you so much for all the rambles and bonus content this year Jenny, it's been a great first year to be a Patreon (I'm a little behind AND *still* catching up on old content)!! Hope you have a wonderful festive season and all the best for 2025!
Wow, I actually recognize the Fairytale Christmas movie. It was sold as "Braver" to capitalize on Pixar's Brave, with a blatantly misleading DVD case.
The whole video I was on edge waiting to see if she’d acknowledge “Braver” 😂
Lmao every time they presented a covered dish and Jenny wanted it to be severed heads
Me when I anger Jenny and I happen to have eyes : 🙈
thank you jenny! happy holidays!
Best Christmas ever!
Thank you Jenny! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 🎁🎄⭐️
This brought back so many repressed memories and I have fully realised I did have the first one on vhs as a child. Thank you Jenny
Omg this instantly reminded me of watching Annabelle's Wish in first grade, which wasn't at all traumatic watching a baby cow who wants to become a reindeer DIE in order to be reborn as a reindeer
🔥🎄🔥
WHAT
Yessss!!! Thank you Jenny.
It’s a Christmas Eve miracle 🎄
Whaaat?! :D
aw hell yeah
WOOOO
Thanks 😊
Who's the best Patreon creator? Jenny is, dammit
A crimbo miracle
I actually got so excited to see this notification omg
it genuinely warms my heart that Jenny did this bonus video for us
Jenny, you're the best!
This dropped right after midnight for christmas day in Australia. About to listen on my drive home. Merry Christmas, Jenny!
Yay! Thanks Jenny!
Wow I thought you were definitely done with videos for the year! No more videos coming for sure! Thank you for this Christmas gift Jenny, I'll watch it right now while I do my Christmas nails :)
this explains why the end of the mean girls vid was so ominous 😭
Oh my gosh thank you so much! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! 🎄✨
I'm a little embarrassed that I didn't suspect anything at the end of the last video hahaha
Who needs Santa when Jenny is putting beautifully wrapped videos under our tree 🌲
THANK U JENNY MERRY XMAS ❤️🎄
Two videos in two days!! It’s a Christmas miracle! 😆
omg it IS a holly jolly christmas after all!
thanks Jenny <3
Okay but for real, Jenny, thank you so much for providing us with wonderful content. Trying not to be parasocial but it means a lot to me that you care so much for your patrons. Hope you have some happy holidays and I can't wait to see everything you have for us in 2025!
Knew there'd be something like this after the end of the last video!!! Happy christmas everyone!!!
this puts the ominous and terrifying end of the mean girls video into a much more cheery holiday context
It's a festivus miracle
Merry Christmas!
Omg yay Jenny!!!! I celebrate with my family tomorrow, today I clean and roll meatballs while tipsy 😂😂 and now this?!?? ❤️❤️
Santa came early!
😱😱😱😱 Thank you so much for a bonus video!!?
merry christmas jenny!!
Jennyyy Ur so awesome ty for feeding us well this Christmas Season❤️
Yay! Happy Holidays!
An hour of Jenny for Christmas Eve???? Let's GOOOOOOOOOOO
JENNY I LOVE YOU
Merry xmas Jenny!
Jenny I was literally just cleaning my house desperately looking for a video to put on so I don’t go Christmas crazy making things look nice and you have truly gifted me exactly what I wished for this day. Have a great holiday
It’s a Christmas miracle
TWO CAKES!!!!
Jenny!!
