Because of the new EU regulations, I won't be shipping to many countries in the EU after the 12th of August. Speaking about Etsy. If you are from the EU and want to get something from my shop, do it before that time! My shop will disappear for certain countries.
If you live outside the EU, I think it's still fine. Which pushes us again to sell more digital work :) Sounds familiar?

I just found about about this on Friday night and like you will be ceasing to trade into the EU from Wednesday! We small companies outside the EU are used to this kind of thing, but the fact they are targeting small businesses within the EU too may make this too unpopular. What's the point of having a single market if it only applies to huge companies?
Also what happened to the eeh what was it called, basically the free shipping between the EU countries
Reports say it won't be enforced till 2034. Also only for Commercial seller. Is your shop on Etsy considered a commercial shop?
The problem with relying on non-enforcement is that you need to break the regulations to find out if they're going to or not. The penalties for this are high, so in my opinion it's not worth it - better to stop at least for a while and see what happens, and what the backlash is. The fact that Etsy has added an option in their settings specifically for this purpose suggests they are taking it seriously. It absolutely affects all levels of maker, unlike similar legislation elsewhere - EU white papers have specifically said that they intend to target small businesses with these regulations. The only question is whether they can survive the bad publicity it creates.
