Poll: What livestream times work for you? Classic Who Suggestions before the 60th / RTD Era II ?
Hey there! I've been thinking about getting back into live-streaming lately. I'm toying around with various ideas on multiple platforms, but the first thing I want to try is some livestreams here on Patreon! We did a test run yesterday with Patreon's new built in livestream capabilities and I thought it was enjoyable. Thanks for those who were able to tune in to the test stream.
I'm thinking about possibly doing a monthly livestream here on Patreon where we can chat and do a live reaction to content that I just can't fit in my very full schedule. I think being live on Patreon I could actually include the video for the stream-- I would post a video on demand exclusive to all members on Patreon and YouTube, but that version would be converted to a watch along format. I may create a cheaper "casual streamer" tier for anyone who just wants access to those VODs
This poll is to help me get an idea when to schedule the stream next week. Select as many times as you could potentially attend.
For this first one I thought it would be fun to watch a serial from classic who! It's almost all on YouTube now and I've heard whispers that there are some stories that might be beneficial to watch heading into the 60th / the next era of the show. I'm open to suggestions so let me have them!
Excited to see what this is like!
I'm also considering some stuff on twitch (which is new to me). I'm trying mostly to use it as an excuse to finally beat the many games I just never finished, but am thinking of replaying kingdom hearts 2 just to get some experience with the platform. Follow there if you're interested.
I'm also open to any other streaming ideas you may have for the channel.
Thanks so much for your support!

Are you doing 1 from each doctor again? also ones I can think of, there's the celestial toymaker but that isn't complete, 2nd doctor The wargames, 3rd doctor spearhead from space or inferno, 4th doctor-Pyramids of Mars, fifth doctor- castrovalva (If before the end of whittakers run) if not The Awakening or Resurrection of the daleks(You have already seen revelation and rememberance may as well get the first part of the soft trilogy watched!), 6th doctor either attack of the cybermen or Vengeance on varos or The Mark of The Ranni, seventh doctor- Survival (if before end of whittakers run) or Greatest show in the Galaxy or The curse of Fenric.
I've expanded the original idea here and I'm calling it the classic who live tour, (announcing officially tomorrow) but it is not intended to hit one of each doctor. I believe it still hits the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th, and I guess thing 2nd is still there even though it isn't in his era. I do have an "extended tour" mapped out that spans 99 serials throughout classic who and would take about two years doing mostly two episodes a week, most of those episodes are included, but none of them would be watched before I finish the modern show. I don't know for sure if it will happen, but should it win a poll one day then it's mapped out and ready to go.
Top Doctor Who Reactions- I would suggest 3rd Doctor "The Three Doctors" as many mentioned. Then the 4th Doctor " The Deadly Assassin". A great episode and one of the very few without a companion. Love that episode.
I think you've basically got it sorted,as far as Classic reactions go. Celestial Toymaker (with the strong caveat that most of it is an animation); Three Doctors; Time Warrior; Pyramids of Mars; Mark of the Rani;Time and the Rani. Whatever you choose to do, I'm looking forward to it. Also delighted to hear that they'll be getting a YT upload.
Classic Who stories I particularly recommend: The Celestial Toymaker, Pyramids of Mars, Dalek of Invasion of Earth. I'd also recommend watching the episode "An Unearthly Child", but not necessarily the serial that follows. It's not a horrendous story, but it's not a standout. I'd also strongly suggest that you watch Ghost Light or the Curse of Fenric (both if you want to, they're both excellent) and Earthshock before you reach the end of 13s run. I'd do those before you watch Power of the Doctor, then do the others before you get into RTD2. Even if you don't react to them, my experience of watching those stories before those particular points massively benefited my enjoyment of those episodes.
Casual Nerd has already reacted to several of those. They're on YT as part of his Classic Mini-marathon leading up to the 50th.
Also got two more recommendations from Peter Davidson era the resurrection of the daleks and the caves of androzanl oh forgot to mention one more from seventh doctor ghostlight that one is brilliant one definitely recommend that too Chris 💛😁
Classic Doctor Who stories to watch? I'll add my voice to a few favorites that others have mentioned: -- "The Celestial Toymaker" (1st Doctor, season 3, episodes 30-33. Animated. ep 30-32 are missing) --"The Three Doctors" (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Doctors, season 10, episodes 1-4) --"Pyramids of Mars" (4th Doctor, season 13, episodes 9-12) All of these can be streamed on BritBox.
Ps Saturdays and thrusdays in the afternoon work best for me as I hav to factor in my diabetes injections
Music to my ears lam definitely in for this recommend drangonfire and the happiness patrol from seventh doctor they are really fun and enjoyable to watch those and aslo the greatest show on the galaxy one more the 5 doctors as well 😁👌💛
Just for clarification, if we wanted to participate in the livestream would we need to be on a paid tier through Patreon? Or is there a way monthly subscribers through YouTube can participate as well?
This stream will be available to free members as well so anyone can participate and the VOD will be posted the next day to all tiers for YouTube and Patreon paid members adjusted to a watch along format (barring any potential technical issues).
without spoiling why, Pyramids of Mars and The Mark of the Rani would be a good one, maybe Time and the Rani as well, other recommendations would be The Time Warrior
Hi Chris, I'm open to this for sure! Just depends on the date in case I've got other commitments. Which week are you thinking of kicking this off? I can definitely think of three 'classic Who' stories to watch ahead of the 60th anniversary / RTD2 episodes. But, I suppose, suggesting those stories, featuring specific characters as they do, could potentially be classed as a spoiler! If you're happy with that though, I'll send over the titles of the stories I'm thinking of. Depending on when you're planning to do this, daylight saving time might be something to factor in for people taking part in the UK. In the UK the clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, while US daylight saving time ends Sunday 1 November. So there is a one-week period, 25 October–1 November, when the usual UK–US time difference is one hour smaller.
I sort of feel like the opportunity to have context for significant moments or characters is more important plus I doubt I'll know exactly which character is important. So far as time changing if I'm going to watch it before I watch the 60th it needs to be in the early parts of October. I'll be honest. I have seen three stories repeated across multiple comments and similar to stories suggested by some comments previously on YouTube. I may be crazy but I'm considering doing 3 Saturdays in a row in October so I can hit all three and making them all available the next day for members. I'm even toying with the idea of doing 3 double features and doing six serials. I have a sickness.
I would definitely recommend The Three Doctors and Pyramids of Mars.
Pyramid of Mars Recently they animated the first doctor story The Celestial Toymaker. I'm not sure if it's available to stream . The Three Doctors and Arc of Infinity
You can stream all of that on BritBox. The animation for the 1st Doctor story The Celestial Toymaker is very trippy!
As to "Which classic Doctor Who episode should you watch," I always recommend the 3rd Doctor story, "The Time Warrior." It's a great starting point for anyone new to classic Doctor Who, and even for those who haven't watched very much of it.
Saturday at 2 (1 for me) is the only option. Thursdays and Fridays I would be at work during those times. Saturday mornings I am normally not at home.
Can't wait!
Me too iam trying not to start jumping up and down here
