I feel like I'm going a little insane. Did you (Chris) watch this for the first time by yourself on the Patreon? I SWEAR I remember you watching it, and I thought "oh cool, he's going through it again with Katie this time"... but... did I just imagine that??? Was it never on the Patreon?
Unfortunately I never reacted to Firefly by myself. I first watched it about 20 years ago.
you guys are horrible with ages xD the actor of river was 21 when firefly aired so 20years when this episode was filmed (The Actor of her Brother was 25) so its only 4-5 years between them, even katies actress is 1 year younger and inara is just 1-2 years older then river xD
Sure, but Summer clearly looked younger than she was, and I think she does fine at pulling off 16 (which is what River is supposed to be).
Adam Baldwin aka jane is awesome in chuck fantastic show, he plays the same kind of guy xD I guess jewel is the biggest scifi star of them
Joss Whedon is probably best known from small indie movies as "the avengers" avengers age of ultron" and "justice league"
Mals comeback about god not being welcomed on this ship kinda goes with the battle at the intro where hes holding the cross around his neck kinda giving a little prayer i guess. So its kinda meant to show he losing the war among other things caused him to lose faith. and as far as him being so grumpy... hes been taking Ls since the big L at the war. i imagine that might change a persons outlook. ironically this is a lighter Mal. if what i am remembering is correct Joss wanted Mal to be a lot more standoffish and for it to take a lot longer for us to warm up to him. which might be more represented here since Fox didnt let them air this pilot originally so we got the trainjob as a mackshift pilot when the show aired. i wish this was a CW show cause we would have gotten 2 seasons minimum. CW doesnt seem so quick on the cancel button even if a show is bombing similar to how people react to the bathroom scene which if you think about it is really good and telling life on a spaceship. water is a valuable resource. honestly surprised he even rinsed his hands the little bit that he did. one thing ive never understood is if we have the technology to terraform other planets and we "used up" earth... could we just terraform the earth? also they dont specify much but they are no longer in our solar system but we dont appear to have any form of FTL travel. and with terraforming technology theres plenty of planets and moons in our own solar system. One thing I think the expanse has over this show is how more focused on our solar system it is. though they also show terraforming as a much longer process while Fireflys terraforming seems to at least be implied to be a bit faster considering how much they have done it. Also... someone else knows of Space Cases?! lol i only saw a few episodes i just remember having a crush on Jewel from that. dont remember much about it and not even sure that would be one we could even find. was also a fan of the 2000 invisible man show that one took forever to finally find higher quality versions of
nathan fillions best show might be Castle
Man, I don't know why I've never been able to get into castle. I've tried a couple different times, I just don't connect to it.
Nathan Fillion actually voiced a character in Halo 3: ODST, one of the games Bungie worked on before Destiny.
Katie, one thing to note, none of these characters are simple (even Jayne).

Hi Katie!! We'll miss you on Supernatural! So, my husband is a huge Firefly fan - I tried to get into it in when it was first airing, but it didn't make sense to me and I gave up. Fox really didn't know what to do with it, moving it around in the schedule and turns out they aired the first few eps out of order! So I'm going to start over again with my fav nerd reactors :)
I love this show and it has been too long since I watched. Excited to watch again. Alan Tudyk is everything. He has never failed to be my favorite in anything he is in. The whole cast is phenomenal and the characters, they are a perfect team up. Not because they fit in a good way, but their messiness fits. I lost it at Loot Goblin, and then your turn on Jayne. Instant grudge match had me cackling. I honestly could praise this cast for hours. I was familiar with Nathan Fillion from another Joss show and Morena Baccarin from another long running sci-fi show. Of course I knew Mark from... everything. The love Kaylee and Mal have for Serenity reminds me of Dean, and so do some of Mal's traits. Anything that makes me think of Dean is good. The one-liners in this show are non-stop. I kept thinking "Shh! My favorite line is coming!" Joss is a master of creating group dynamics and dialogue. It is a shame he turned out to be horrible, because every show he made is so worth watching and reacting to. Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, and Firefly are all in my top 10 shows. You have to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Nathan is in that too. FOX are readers and I will never forgive them for ruining Firefly's chances. So many episodes were out of order or not even aired until months after it was canceled. Truly unforgivable. Of course it didn't pick up a huge audience with those games. It is a show that makes you think, which means you have to be able to follow it. I looked back at the release order vs the intended one and I had forgotten how chopped it was. I love watching you try to control your face too. I wish Katie could react to both shows, because I will miss her on Supernatural, but this is gonna be fun to watch. Ok... I think I wrote a novel, so... ❤️
I was looking at the release order too, I've NEVER watched it in that order. I can kind of understand some of the early changes, arguably moving some of the better episodes earlier to try to hook viewers, but part of why they work so well is that we know the characters so well when those moments hit. Ultimately it's just such a shame they couldn't leave well enough alone.
I was so confused on syncing because I accidentally hit on YouTube edit. I didn't sleep so my brain could not comprehend. It didn't take long, but too long...🤪
