First comment time: I love SG1. Absolutely consider it a top-tier show that stands the test of time. Most sci-fi shows take a little while to really find their footing, but stargate starts at a pretty high level and manages to pretty much maintain that quality through all of its many seasons. You really are in for a treat with this.

To answer your question: Roland Emmerich was not involved with the TV show. He and his co-creator supposedly do not like how the TV went over time. They have indicated they would like to do their own sequel, but now that Amazon owns the IP it is unlikely Amazon would want to ditch the many SG tv shows (there are three) fans.

I love this show. There are a handful of shows that I have watched more then once. Star Trek, dr who, eureka, and the star gate (both sg1 and Atlantis).

its not scifi channel yet, its SHOWTIME. but they got pushback from the pilot so they cut down the nudity

I'm only now realizing I don't think there is a group term for Stargate fans? I guess there might be, but I don't know it.

There are two versions of the premiere, the original version that aired on Showtime channel and the re-broadcast version. The original Showtime channel version had nudity. Which they had to edit out when the show eventually moved to the SciFi channel in later seasons.

Stargate was my first big lockdown binge. Watched all three series. Overall because SG-1 is longest while Atlantis and Universe combined make like 2/3rds. But if Universe wasn’t canceled when it was, I think two of my favorite shows wouldn’t have gotten the right actors for some great characters.

I was actually just thinking of the way this series goes initially. On my own (aborted) rewatch of it I was kind of surprised at how good the pilot was as well!

stargate would be perfect for NVPN adds xD because its not streaming ANYWHERE In europe. so for everyone in europe who wanna watch along and has a working us vpn that isnt detected by mainstream sites: you can watch on amazon.com with a vpn. (when you as example use nvpn amazon will say "vpn detected i will not play this" so dont use the first vpn listed use another one and it normaly works)

I like the "slow start", actually. The audience needs a little time to learn how the returning characters have changed since that mission.
